Getting cut adrift now. Will the trigger get pulled? 21:35 - Dec 18 with 6521 views | E20Jack | Not even a win in the next game takes us out of the relegation zone. In serious danger of getting cut adrift with Liverpool and Spurs matches on the horizon. Anyone think Clement gets the boot prior to New Year? I cant see it. Change needed though, that is clear.

Getting cut adrift now. Will the trigger get pulled? on 08:34 - Dec 19 by SwanLuke | Was it really a good performance though in the first half that people have been suggesting? I just saw a very poor Everton side that were there for the taking. I think we all sat there at half time thinking ok here comes the inevitable collapse. The lack of movement and confidence is frightening and that comes from the manager. |
Absolutely Luke. We tried to play a bit more than we have recently, but Everton weren’t at the races first half. Once their first went in, it was effectively just a matter of time. Their second was inevitably going to come at some point. The third didn’t really matter, we were never going to break down an Allardyce side defending a lead. Worst thing was, both sets of players and managers knew it. Get him out, we’re running out of time.

I don't disagree about Clement - he's had enough games. However I disagree with you and Luke in your assessment of our performance, in that we have faced some truly awful sides this year and drawn or lost. We beat three awful teams (Palace, Huddersfield and WBA), drew against another poor side (Bournemouth) and gained two credible draws against Southampton and Spurs. We lost to Newcastle, Watford, WHU, Brighton, Burnley and Stoke -all games if we had shown the passion we showed in the first half last night we could have won. Against Man City we were crying out for the team to show passion to no avail. Last night I felt at least they showed they cared and tried to win, and they get slated in some quarters for it.

I can see your point but I’ve never questioned the players for not caring. I’m never one to demand the manager to get the sack but our players are not playing to the levels that they can reach. This comes down to the manager for me, we are so obsessed on keeping shape that the players look terrified to show any little bit of individuality. Look at Tom Carroll the boys confidence is shot.

They aren’t getting slated for trying to win. They aren’t even getting slated. It’s a depressing reality that we just can’t break teams down. That game was lost the minute they equalised. There is never, ever any excuse for showing more passion in one half than the other. Not that that necessarily happened last night, it’s a lack of ideas, players willing to take responsibility and negative managerial tactics that’s killing us.

Certainly true about the manager. Our squad last year (with the exception of Gylfi and Llorente) was average. This year we have mostly the same players (with the exception of Bony, who is class and Mesa, who has the potential to be class), however they are being dragged down by Clement. He has to go - Saturday (if we are losing, which I hope we aren't) then the East Stand's message has to be "Clement Out" not "Paul Clement's Barmy Army"

Last year we were in a similar position and it was our signings in January that gave us the boost to stay up.

And two top quality players in Llorente and Sigurdsson. Where are the equivalent to these this season?

Bony is better than Llorente. We need to be trying to find an attacking midfielder in Jan. If we can get Chadli then he would more than do. But we must still be in touch (4pts or less) from climbing out, otherwise it looks next to hopeless.

I like Bony but if he can't stay fit then he's less useful than Llorente. Let's hope we can find a player who will have a similar impact to Sigurdsson in January then. Not holding by breath based on recent signings.

Llorente would have missed a portion of this season too with his arm injury and had zero pre season. But agree, if Bony stays fit then we have a forward lynchpin.

Getting cut adrift now. Will the trigger get pulled? on 23:54 - Dec 18 by Ebo | 12 points from 18 games same as last season at which stage we'd sacked Guidolin and Bradley, so Clement's done enough to be sacked twice already this season. |
Rather pointless getting rid of PC now, it's to late, should have sacked him 6 games ago, but as usual took the cheap option to save money. The nightmare scenario awaits, Scum up and the Swans down.

I don't know... losing twice to the scum next season as they storm to promotion would be a far worse scenario for me.

There was a moment in the last quarter where Mesa decided to try and take the bull by the horns, brought the ball forward from midfield and was flapping his hands to encourage someone to move and take a pass...they all just stood next to their markers and stared at him. He ended up turning back and passing to Mawson - the bloke pretty much gave up after that and to be honest, I couldn't blame him.
