Although I agree you should play to the whistle the Leeds players slowed it down and looked like they were going to kick it out before playing Klich through.
It's the feigning of kicking the ball out that is distasteful.
The FA should reinforce the point to clubs that it is up to the ref to stop the game. The way they speak and are in complete control of the ref is beyond. Then we start seeing namby pamby supporters speaking of moral compasses!
Unless the FA seek to alter the rules then you carry on until the ref stops the match. Does my head in when players decide. Then the namby pambies clap when they kick it back.

You forgot that when they kick it back, the team kicking it out get the ball back a hell of a distance back from where they had the ball, giving other side an advantage.
Or in Fer's case, claim that's only a British thing and he really didn't know about it whatsoever...

He should be fined by the FA. It's not his decision to make.
El Loco did not like the way his players behaved and made the decision to even things up somewhat. Villa had lost a player as well. It was a class and generous decision by him. How I wish Jenkins and Morgan had not screwed up and he had become our manager.....
You have mission in life to hold out your hand,
To help the other guy out,
Help your fellow man.

To remove the controversy, the ref should be allowed to wave the trainers on while the game is going on. The player gets medical attention, and the game isn’t interrupted. Unless the medical staff indicate to the ref that the injury is serious.
If the injured player is obviously seriously injured, the game should be stopped by the ref.
If a player wants medical attention and can walk (like a hand injury), then he should walk off the pitch to receive it.

On top of the spying debacle , if hadn't had done it, he'd have been slaughtered in the press. Not a sporting or class gesture, but he quickly thought of what would follow.

Don't be silly, the football snobs would never follow what works perfectly in rugby (as you described).
I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.
Aston Villa player injures himself whilst making a quite nasty foul.
Aston Villa players decide the game must stop because cheating player has injured himself.
Leeds carry on and score.
Aston Villa players and staff cut up rough.
I've always thought it ludicrous that sides whose players get injured now demand that the other team must boot the ball out if they are in possession.
What started off some years ago as a sporting goodwill gesture by opposing teams has turned into indignant acts of petulance and self entitlement by professional footballers.
Carry on and let the ref blow the whistle if he feels the need to. Obviously if it is apparent that a player is in immediate serious trouble then those closest will very quickly act to help and call on the medical staff whilst alerting the ref anyway.
Once a player goes down injured for more than 10 seconds he should be taken off for a minimum period of time, hopefully this will stop the theatrics and con artists. Too many feign injury when their opponents look to attack or after making a rash challenge.

That penalises real injuries though?
Just play on while they are treated. if it's Adam or McLean, kick the ball at them while they are being treated and all pile in after it. Job done.

Absolutely spot on. The shamming of injuries in the sport is shocking nowadays. This would change attitudes of players.
The solution is as per rugby. Player injured but play carries on. Physio allowed onto pitch to treat injury whilst play continues. Meanwhile this kicking the ball out nonsense has to stop. No need for it just got on with it. Strong new rules needed urgently.
Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day
Nah, you can't have a physio on pitch whilst play going on, play moves far too fast - obstruction, ball hitting player / physio etc.
It's not like egg chasing where they kick every now and then, get tired, have a cuddle for a few minutes...
Kicking the ball out has become a convention really rather than a rule, good sportsmanship. Well, so it's claimed, every time the ball is returned, it's quite a distance from where the team who kicked it out had it.
