Brexit delayed by Coronavirus? 15:45 - Mar 16 with 3453 views | FieryJack | I'm surprised that there has been no mention, officially or otherwise, of the possibility of extending the Transition period of Brexit talks. We were due to leave on Jan 1st 2021 after spending this year sorting out trading arrangements etc. with many people as it is saying this was too short a time period to satisfactorily achieve that. Surely, with all these border shut-downs, and, I presume, all the various advisors/diplomats sat around at home kicking their heels, a decision to extend the deadline should be made? Or am I missing something? If nothing else, it will at least have the effect of pi**ing off Pikey and his pals 😂

Brexit delayed by Coronavirus? on 15:51 - Mar 16 with 3431 views | Batterseajack | Even without Corona virus getting in the way, our government will not be using this time productively and just wait until we get nearer deadline day for a bit of brinkmanship nonsense before either asking for an extension or giving into EU demands like we have done at every other deadline up until now.

I know we're leaving the EU. I'm talking about extending the Transition Period. Now get to the back of the class and read the OP properly, you clown.

I’ve read the OP and it says “We were due to leave on Jan 1st 2021” This is simply wrong. We have already left.

And the bit in the OP where you ask “am I missing something?” The answer is obviously yes.

Yes, you're right, in a tedious hair-splitting sort of way. Now, in your mind, change the word "were" to "are" in the sentence you quote, and then we can move on. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That would just change “we were due to leave” to “we are due to leave” which would be just as inaccurate seeing as we’ve already left.

No extension because they’ve ‘given a commitment’. Given they can’t prepare a trade deal for the foreseeable they’d be absolutely bonkers to stick to the transition period; which means they probably will.

Can't believe even this government would be that reckless. We'll see.

Surely brexit has to be on hold until we beat Corona? Unless priotities are skewed anyway.
