I think you'll find that the case in Philly was a bit different. He hadn't killed anyone, he was mentally ill, and he could probably have been dealt with by a taser.

There is some truth that having some form of religion has benefits socially, but like anything, when stories written thousands of years ago are taken literally then things don’t tend to end well for anyone.
