Seny and Sam off next? 09:30 - Jun 29 with 14209 viewsQPunkR

FLW reckoning Hull and Boro are in for Seny :( This would make me particularly sad as it's not exactly a massive step up for him.

Also talk elsewhere of Field being eyed up :( :(

Shit but local

I wouldn't have a problem if we got Begovic as a replacement for Dieng. Yes, he's a bit older - 36 - but has a pretty decent record. He's opening a new soccer school at the end of July in Chiswick so he's connected to West London and apparently committed to being around until he retires.

3 years out of him for no fee wouldn't be bad business.

That's interesting - I didn't know about that.
With them not renewing Martin, there's definitely need for another wise old head of some kind.

I think Seny is getting a bit of a bad rap for last season…pretty much everyone was bad last season and the defense especially. His value is definitely more in distribution than pure shot stopping, but I think he is a more than good Championship goalie. But with GA seeming to not want to do as much playing out from the back, his strengths will not be maximized and he should go.

As for Begovic, he hasn’t played much the last few seasons and I can’t imagine what his wage expectations are…

I think Seny deserves all the heat he is getting after last year because he did not bail us out often enough IMO. I agree the team were bad for long stretches but the keeper has a job to do and he let way too many goals on the soft side for us I think.
As for his value in distrubition more than pure shot stopping then its ass backwards because shot stopping if the No1 atribute for every keeper .
If we get 3 mil for him pack the bags right now

With Seny he always commanded his area continually snapping up crosses and snuffing out potential danger however last season after October that element of his game almost dissapeared.
Guess it went with the overall confidence of the team.
Really like Seny but if we can get good money for him the sobeit, if not he's still a top keeper

captains fantastic

Personally if we get 3 million upwards for Seny, it's bite your hands off time for me.

Last season I thought he was severely disappointing throughout and there was often at least one goal a game where the attempted save made could be described as flimsy at best. And on most one on one's he was painfully poor last season. For the year and a half before he was superb.

Willock got a heck of a lot of probably deserved criticism with his form falling off a cliff but the same could be said of Diengs performance.

I think we could get reasonable goalkeeper for much less than the money we could get in for Seny.

So cant see any reason why he will be part of our first team squad come the start of the season.

Agree with that - another one who really did the opposite of 'covering himself in glory' (denuded himself of glory?) for me. Frankly, Dieng was mostly dung after a month or two last time out. Seemed to be playing beneath himself as though he just didn't want to be there and looked miserable as sin the whole campaign. I felt early on - though one or two others commented, I think - that 'something's gone on'.

3m would be a fair price all things considered now he's effectively f*cked us by devaluing himself, and hopefully GA will be on the same page if a bid comes in - just agree the fee, chivvy him out the door, and bring in the best quality we can as his replacement.

Need to keep Field at all costs.

Field is decent but hardly irreplaceable, and, as we're constantly told, everyone has their price. If he were to get a move to Burnley and the Prem for say £3m, the club shouldn't stand in his way unless he really wants to stay.

I guess another problem with our develop and sell at profit is nobody is doing that anymore - I am amazed nobody's made a half decent offer for Willock, even say £4m or something.

Many now simply seeing out the contract and pocketing more afterwards I guess.

I disagree. Field is irreplaceable. Even if he's merely 'decent' by Championship standards, we can't afford to recruit a 'decent' replacement. That said, I'm sure the club would sell if a relatively good offer came in; it simply has to now.
