Chaz returns to his roots 14:45 - Jul 31 with 4828 viewssouthernR

Very excited....Austin just signed for my local non-league side AFC Totton.. just missed out on a double promotion last season and found themselves in 4 cup finals (only won one but by then they'd just lost the promotion final game) https://www.afctotton.com/news/charlie-austin-signs-stags

Always comes across as a good lad. We were lucky to have him.

Fair play to him for wanting to keep on playing. A lot of players would have just hung up their boots.

Could be a great move for Totton - he's dropping down three divisions from the level he was playing and scoring at last season, and he'll know what to expect having started in non-league football. Will be interesting to see how he and Totton do this season.

Congrats to AFC Totton. Won promotion to National League South via a second place finish and play-off win. The next Wrexham maybe!?

Not sure how many exactly but Charlie Austin got a few goals.

Austin scored in the 119th minute to win the semifinal match 4-3, getting them into the final

His second (post-loan) spell sadly soured his legacy a bit, as a few of us here remarked at that time -lwhen he looked unfit, uninterested, and barely contributed. Ellerslie Road/Stan Bowles Stand-gate was a lowlight that stuck in the craw. Geat player in his pomp, but that was a bridge too far - took the dosh and didn't/couldn't deliver. Living embodiment of the dictum that you shouldn't go back. That said, thanks for some great memories, Chaz, and good luck, despite one or two hard feelings.
