Who knows , after all we risked McCarthy last season who had not even been on the bench all season.
A lot will depend on what the manager wants from his keeper -Save goals McCarthy is the best of a bad bunch but would be madness to expect him to play out the back. Play out the back then lumley is better but I’m not convinced on his ability to stop shots. | | | |

I'm not sure that McCarthy and saving goals go together. The last time he played in the Premier League nearly every shot on target was a goal. He's always a split second too late starting his dives. There was a notable difference when Lumley made a good diving save yesterday. He looked much quicker off the mark and more athletic. McCarthy wouldn't have made that save, but he would have made it look like he'd made a good attempt to save it. [Post edited 11 Aug 12:06]
