Blackburn away
at 18:25 2 Oct 2025

It seems since covid every thing has gone up, but the cost of coaches ( especially by the club who should run them to break even or even at a small loss) have rocketed.

£46 or £48 if you are not a season ticket holder is a lot of money, especially for families.

I know there are a couple of other coach providers and I’ve no issue with them making a bit on each coach ( after all they go out of their way to run them) but the club ones should be cheaper.

Saints aren’t the only club to what would seam to be more money making schemes from the supporters.

My thoughts on last night
at 17:39 1 Oct 2025

Got indoors just after 3 this morning.

The 1st half was nearly as bad as we have been, seemed to be very slow in moving the ball forward not helped at times by our lack of movement.

Not sure McCarthy was at fault for the goal as Nick suggested, I guess it’s one of the goals if you hate the keeper then it’s his fault , if it was another keeper then it wasn’t his fault.

The goal came about by giving the ball away in midfield ( Jander) then the CB ( Quarshie) getting done by the forward .

To our credit we got ourselves a penalty - is that Armstrong 1st miss from the spot for us?

To Stills credit ( or luck) the half time subs made us more attacking and Stewart’s 2 goal were both taken well - a true strikers instinct .

Still subs towards the end seemed to take away our attacking threat and invited Sheffield on to us.

Did really well to hold on in the end and as others have said the ref blew his whistle way before the disallowed goal was scored.

Leicester City points deduction

You just know that with Dragan and his clowns running the show we would be the only side to break the FFP rules and still get relegated. ( before any point deduction)

Northam yesterday
at 10:01 28 Sep 2025

I thought the Northam were quite load yesterday and sung a few different songs , OWTS, Come on you reds, the Tom follows chant that most seemed to join in with, Adam Armstrong one and of course that terrible Alez Alez one.

The main problem is we just haven’t got enough different songs that are easy to song along to.

2 points above relegation spot

2 big games coming up against Sheffield United and Derby . Need to win at least one to pull away from the bottom 3 .

Should have too much to get too involved in a relegation scrap but if we are not carful we could be in one .

Think it’s 3 wins from our last 45 league games.

I’ve a feeling he’ll go with 5 at the back again, who he plays at the back will depend on who gets picked out the hat.

Give Will Still more time
at 15:34 26 Sep 2025

A few fans were saying after the transfer window closed they thought with the squad we had then automatic promotion should be achieved.
A lot of fans said we should be capable of challenging for a play off spot with the squad we have .

Personally I’ve always said we should , on paper be challenging for the playoffs however from the games we’ve played we are no where near a top 6 side , far from it .

In fact we are getting worse not better .

I don’t like Still , didn’t think we should have appointed him but wasn’t surprised given Dragan and co own us .

However I do want Saints to win games and have a good season .

Ultimately the results on the pitch will decide Stills position 2 important games this week and will probably need at least 3 points to keep us out the bottom 3 by the time we play derby next week .

If we are serious about a play off spot push I’d say 6 points is the minimum required from the 3 games . I think someone said after 10 games Martin had 13 points. So we would be there or there abouts .

Long chat with Hull fan

Like you I never wanted Still, he had done nothing to suggest he should manage us.

However like you say wanted him to do well and get us in the play offs.

He has had his excuses ( seems to be every week he comes out with one) but he’s run out of them now. The club have got the players he wanted hes been here since May. Performances on the pitch what count. The fact is we are getting worse not better with him as the weeks go by.

We were discussing on the way back it’s when not if Still gets the sack. Do the loons keep him until our play offs challenge officially ends, do they make a change now with the hope we can turn the season around. But like you said it will be Lallana and probably Trollope or some other no mark.

As I think Southamptonfan pointed out it’s Sport Republic are the issue and they seem to be getting away with any criticism from the fans.

Lowe got a song about him swinging from the Itchen bridge but Dragan a co have arguably been worse .

I read earlier we are fast becoming another Watford and I agree , under Dragan weve had :
Hasenhüttl, Jones, Sellés, Martin, Juric, Rusk and Still that’s 7 manages in the 4 years or so since the loons have owned us. By the end of the season it will be 8. And they lies half the problem.

Is it the team, the manager or both?

I agree from what I’ve seen we will finish mid table under the current circumstances.

So you do not think the squad we have is good enough to challenge for a play offs sport?

You are right big clubs do spend time in the lower leagues, after all only 15 seasons ago we were playing in the 3rd division.

Clubs go down and stay down mainly by having bad transfer windows and badly managed from the top.

I do agree with you here.

Fans keep blaming a manager that left 9 months ago and we are now on our 3rd manager since Martin left. How long will Martin still get the blame?

As for how long it takes for Still or impose his playing style, Martin got the team playing his way in our 1st game at Sheffield Wednesday where we made about 1000 passes or something during our 2-1 win.

Still has had all summer to get the team playing his way and so far we’ve not seen it or if we have his way is shit .

He’s now got the players he supposedly wanted time to show us on the pitch by getting results to challenge for the play offs.

To get 6 th place is normally around the low 70’s points or around 1.6 points per game . We currently are averaging 1.2 points per game.

Getting 10 points in our next 5 will get us back up to averaging 1.6 points per game and challenging for the playoffs.

Over to you a Will.

Portsmouth Game Matchday Thread

I remember getting the train up to London games in the late 80’s early 90’s the Buffett car would be full of Chelsea fans from Weymouth if they were playing at home .

If I remember there Used to be an old girl who used to travel with them ( well she was old to me at the time)

Atmosphere
at 10:18 15 Sep 2025

I sit in the Itchen North and thought the atmosphere was good before the game and at the start.

It went dead at times as once again there was little cheer on the pitch.

It’s a shame as you just knew that if we had scored it would have been electric.

For a team that reckon they are the best supporters in the land I thought Portsmouth were quiet at times towards the end as they Celebrated their well earned 0-0 win they became loud .

Not good enough
at 18:02 14 Sep 2025

Very hard to disagree with this.

In our 5 league games we’ve looked far from a team challenging for the playoffs offs.

We are 15 th and exactly where we deserve to be , and unless there is a vast improvement then that’s about where we will finish.

I don’t like Still, don’t think he should have been appointed but he’s here -he needs to get results he’s got the players he apparently wanted time now to deliver .

Our next game is a week away without any disruptions at Hull let’s see how we get on…

Saints V Pompey Eve Of The Matchday Thread

I’m less nervous now than I was a week ago ., I’ve kind of accepted we aint going to win .

Can see us taking the lead then them scoring near the end to get a 1-1 win which the dwebs will celebrate until January at least .

Can also see a bit of trouble happening in the boxes / corporate if any of the fvckers that have tickets in there celebrate too much .

The fact we are playing them in the league in the 2nd division again reinforces how much Dragan has fvcked us up.

Oh and the 100 or so that may have cooperate tickets will turn into them claiming they had 1000 dotted all over the ground come Monday morning.

You can also bet your bottom dollar the village idiot will be all over this message board by 2pm if the worse happens .

Portsmouth Travel Information

I’d have thought they will deliver them in “ batches” rather than one big batch of about 50 busses or so.

There’s no way they all would go to Winchester then all be delivered together.

I’d have thought one lot from Fratton , one lot from North Harbour and one lot from Winchester or something like that.

Will Still Says He Will Have Full Squad For Pompey Game
at 18:36 12 Sep 2025

Yep, results need to improve if we are to challenge for the play offs.

The club have invested heavily ( around 35 / 40 million if reports are to believed ) with this kind of investment a play off push would be the minimum expectation. The club have got the type of players Still reportedly wanted.

As I said If and it’s a big If we were to lose on Sunday that would be 5 points from 5 games - no where near good enough .

Results need to improve starting Sunday ( whoever we were playing) even then 8 points from 5 would still be only just on target. ( assuming of course a play push is the aim this season) .
