Criticising Sports Republic on 'The Saints Network' - Censorship on Fans 16:08 - Mar 19 with 1218 viewsFlamingbankers

Simply put: they deserve criticising because they're mostly useless and incompetent. If most of the fans had cocked-up in their jobs, the way SR has cocked-up, they would be sacked with no compensation.

On Sunday a mate of mine was criticising SR with just a simple comment, 'SR out' on 'The Saints Network' YouTube channel chat and they were timed out of making any further comments throughout the rest of the show.

They'd seen that the rugby loving presenter had tried to defend SR in the previous episode or two of the brand new show. So the timing-out of criticism does seem fishy and one wonders whether the show is not bought and paid for in some or most respects by SR.

Why the heck can't fans criticise SR - it's perfectly legitimate because they really are incompetent (it can't be denied; look at our run of poor managers, players bought, loaned and released and league position alone) and they're running down Southampton FC.

Sports Republic have to prove to the fans that they are competent. Dragan has made some important changes and this implies that he knew SR were performing poorly. So even he's recognised that the Club couldn't go on as it was but are these changes enough - I don't think so. With the exception of Dragan the rest of the ownership needs replacing now, before next season.

It's incredibly embarrassing for true supporters when the pundits on MOTD don't even mention us any more when they analyse a game involving Saints because the team simply are too embarrassing to bother making comment about and have no value in making any positive comment. Aribo said as much during the week. Some of us do still believe in maintaining dignity and pride with and through our football club.

Spending £100m on 10 players gets you Championship football.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

I am not sure why Dragan gets a free hit?

It's his money and everyone else in the organisation knows that. They'll either be doing what they are told or doing what they think he wants them to do. And we have no idea what sort of person he is in terms of hearing bad news...

...or having egg on his face. He, after all, was the one doing the media not so long ago praising Juric as the man for the long term.

Also, maybe he's the ditherer when it comes to moving on the dead ducks.

Poll: Should we try to replace Selles for the final seven games?

I think that Sport Republic realise that they should have moved quicker in replacing Jason Wilcox, we went into the summer floundering and with no one really overseeing Russell Martin and after finally sacking him, no one really qualified to source a good replacement.

We now have Johannes Spors, is he any good ? I don't know anymore than the next man, but at least he has experience in the job he is here to do.

We cannot change this season, only the last 9 games and then next season.

SR is an aggregator of investors money. Not every penny coming into the business comes from Dragan and his pals. Rather they seek investment on the promise of great returns.

Clearly this is not going well with Saints. Whilst the prize money for finishing last and the parachute payments are valuable, in absolute terms compared to say the cost of a decent striker, it's small beer. The real money is made in finding talent, nurturing it and selling it.

If that is talent found in Turkey or France and then brought to the shop window in the English leagues, so be it.

Clubs in the PL (because there are more clubs in that league with the pockets to buy talent) will always be looking for new players and if SR can get a few sales - Dibling being the obvious one - then they can show their investors that they have "succeeded".

Investors will not care if we are the least talented PL side ever seen or a middling Champ side (which is what we will be for a few seasons) so long as the conveyor belt from the feeder clubs continue.

And unless SR can be seen to "fail" at the investor level, we are stuck with them knowing that see Saints as a platform to sell players and not as a success story that is necessary to further that aim.

And so far, SR has not "failed" in that mission.

Dragan's reputation with investors will buy him more time, perhaps to end of next season . Even then because we are not central to the success of the fund, he may survive longer.

So from a footballing, reputational, fan loyalty perspective we think SR has "failed" and we would like to see owners with ambition to invest in our club and make us a better team able to compete, that is not SR's plan and they can argue that they have not failed.

And make no mistake here, SR care little for fans other than their pockets.

No disrespect to those other leagues but I am pretty sure that having a PL team in your portfolio is pretty 'central to the success of the fund'.

And, while SR presents itself as some sort of Venture Capital outfit, my guess would be that Solak is by far the principal investor and the one with whom the buck stops.

So, again, not sure why he gets a free pass.

He gets a free pay because money is louder than the noise from us, the fans, and until that changes he will continue to get a free pass.

Sure, a free pass from his investors. But that doesn't mean we have to give him one too.

I'm going to stop referring to SR being the problem. Solak is the problem. He's the one with money and the power, and who can get it sorted.

It's all on him from here for me.

Mr Dorset (If I may be so familiar), you are doomed to frustration here.

The only way Solak can walk away is via a fire sale which will cost him millions, his reputation and his ability to convince investors to trust him.

He therefore has to make the plan work and that means becoming a nursery for players that other clubs want. That in turn means a constantly changing playing rota and probably coaching team. If that frustrates us fans - he doesn't care - literally, he doesn't care.

Why should he care?

He’s intestered in making money not friends.

He’s saved me £700.50 this summer.
Cheers Dragster.

No one buys a football club like Southampton to make a lot of money .

The old adage was always "How do you sell a football club for £100 million ? buy it for £200 million"
