The very strange case of Jack for Leo

Unless someone is betting against us somewhere...mmm...

The last time the incompetence was this extreme were those mental no balls by the Pakistani bowlers at Lords a few years back...

To be fair most days there is quite a lot of low b0llocks talked on here.

Regis le Bris is 49 and played nearly 200 games professionally, albeit not at a particularly high level.

There may be similarities in managerial careers, but the age difference will help him have authority with the players.

Too right we can't blame them. I've appointed an agent and am getting my CV ready for when Still goes.

I was pretty good at Subbuteo back in the day.

It speaks volumes when things are so unbelievably bad that we can't believe they are down to incompetence alone.

And, Jelly, you know that I always prefer 'cock up' to conspiracy when tying to understand things, but I confess that I have had the same thought as you! Can a club/its owners really be *this* incompetent ?!

Is Silence From St Mary's A Good Or Bad Sign For Will Still
at 09:55 28 Oct 2025

Of course he's still here.

How many times recently have we waited after another disastrous match for a failing manager to be sacked, only to see him in charge at the next game, and the next, and the next...

Spors doesn't have the power to sack him. He'd have to ask Solak for that and Solak might have a few questions about why he was appointed in the first place and whether Spors has any real clue about getting in a replacement that turn things around.

Do we have options to bring in people despite the window being closed?

When Coventry appointed Frank Lampard at the end of November 2024, Russell Martin had won 1 and lost 10 of the first 12 games.

Had Solak been more decisive, maybe we could have appointed Lampard then but it took 4 more games and 3 more defeats (two conceding 5) before he decided to act.

I guess we would have moaned about a Lampard appointment at that time and maybe he would have done no better than Juric last season.

But since his appointment, Coventry have won 23 games and we've won 3.

!!!!!!!! Will Still Out !!!!!!!!
at 19:06 22 Oct 2025

If Still was replaced now with an experienced manager with some (any) record of managerial success in the EFL, then we could still make the playoffs this year. The talent in our squad is there, it just has to be galvanised in the right way.

Solak will stick with Still until it's too late and then coming to Saints won't be anywhere near as attractive to someone new.

The German 2nd division is nowhere near as good as the Championship

Very interesting.

"The competition, the physical power and the tempo are much higher."

Competitive aggression, physical power and tempo are three of the big things we are missing.

Solak appoints Spors appoints Still. The blind leading the blind leading the blind.

What do you think, Dirk, could McCarthy have done better?

He looked like a rabbit in headlights to me, but I think I'm being unfair and few keepers would have reacted more quickly or effectively.

I wondered that, but the Bristol manager is another Austrian.

Danny Rohl

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Rohl does up there.

it's a big step up for him and we should now find out whether he really was the brains behind the early Ralph period, and whether Solak was as stupid as we think in appointing all those losers instead of trying harder to get Rohl.

Fair enough.

Your optimism is encouraging and I know I am also prejudiced against Still because of his age and because none of the other under-qualified recent managers came good.

I agree that we look solid defensively. But then I would hope so playing 5 at the back and two more sitting in front of them!

Let's see how it goes and what the XG is tomorrow night.

My 'bleedin' obvious' point was only about needing a striker (and, yes, a goalkeeper too).

But if the stats are saying that apart from that Still is doing well, then they there is something wrong with them, because I just don't see that.

For me, the team, as a team, doesn't seem to know what it's meant to be doing. There's just no fluency or consistent style to it.

It's an instinct, I know. An instinct as against statistical data. But you know what they say about statistics and I'll trust myself on this until we start winning and then I will eat my words and will be very happy to.

My point is that we can sit in the stands and see what's going on.

As Peter Taylor did.

And Will Still's team is not impressing so far.

I'm confused. We sold out out allocation but we've only got one hand up so far on here.

Does this mean that there are Saints fans who don't come on here??

Is that why we've been waiting so long to buy a striker, we needed a critical mass of xG data to confirm the bleedin' obvious?

What do the stats say about the managerial appointments made by Solak so far?

Have we got enough data yet for him to conclude that he's not very good at this and sell up?

I'm now wondering how Brain Clough managed to get a get a team promoted, win the league and then two European Cups? That stats that guy must have had.

When he wasn't waffling about XG, Still said this:

“I’m really happy with the performance. I think it was one of the most dominating and complete performances that we’ve put in all season,”

'dominating' ???

'complete' ???

Wtf is he talking about?

We had some good chances but we were largely toothless and at no time were Swansea 'on the ropes' - even in the last 7 minutes of injury time.

And if he thinks that was a 'complete' performance then we are in real trouble.
