Tickets on sale now for the Colchester United 'End of Season Dinner' on Thursday 1st May at the JCS.

Also, now is the time when you get to have your say in who wins at the end of season Col U awards.
https://www.cu-fc.com/news/2025/april/0 ... -u-awards/

1) Goal of the Season
2) Young Player of the Season
3) Official Player of the Season

Here is a list of my contenders for Official Player of the Season:

1) Macey - 19 clean sheets and counting!
2) Iandolo - Mr Consistent! (most improved from last season?)
3) McDonnell - season changer when he and Donnelly came into the starting XI. Covers every blade of grass!
4) Payne - Goals and Assists!! - runs a marathon every match!
5) Taylor - our leading goal scorer and talisman! Top man on and off the pitch!

Special shout outs to Edwards, Tovide and Bishop who when they play make such a BIG difference to the team.

Oh and I should also mention Oscar Thorn, who has been this years break through player from the Youth Team

Difficult choices this season that's for sure.

Also surprised Tovide's goal against Swindon doesn't make the shortlist.

I haven't voted yet, will give it a few more games, but I'm leaning towards Jamie McDonnell for YPOTS and Jack Payne for POTS to at least share some of the trophies around the squad. Because of his leadership on and off the pitch, Lyle Taylor to get PPOTS.

To be honest though, I can see Jamie bagging all of them, including the CUSA and Hospital Radio POTS - is the latter still a thing?

POTS - Payne, for his creativity, commitment, goals, assists and all round fine example to the squad.

YPOTS - McDonnell. Astonishing energy and commitment to the cause. Maturity beyond his years.

Goal of the Season - Tovide v Port Vale, the sort of goal that only he can conjure up, almost from nothing. An ice cool finish.

PAYNE WINS OFFICIAL POTY AWARD
https://www.cu-fc.com/news/2025/may/02/payne-wins-official-poty-award/

Winners' List:
General Manager's Performer of the Year - Serena Green
Employee of the Year - Tina Williams
Special Recognition Award - Jamie Newstead
CUSA Away POTY - Fiacre Kelleher
CUSA POTY - Jack Payne
Young POTY - Jamie McDonnell
Goal of the Season - Owura Edwards
Players' POTY - Jack Payne
Official POTY - Jack Payne

Can't argue too much with that. However, it is interesting that Kelleher won the CUSA Away POTY when it is voted on the coaches after the away matches and considering he only played for half a season (after Donnelly left in Jan), he must have (and did) make a hell of an impact when he did (and does) play!
