One of the worrying things about DC's recent musings is the way that he keeps mentioning the loss of Ben Perry, and how crucial he is to the team. I find that comment bizarre, given the fact that Perry has started precisely three league games and, although tidy enough, didn't exactly set the world alight. Odd.

The best management team in league Two. Really? It's true that we had a couple of excellent runs last season, including five consecutive wins in the first half of March. But after that it was just two wins from nine and ultimately we didn't look like contenders for a play off spot. This season we have one win from ten, and two extremely tricky games coming up. I hope it doesn't happen, but it could quite easily become one win from twelve games. At what point do you think most fans will say this just isn't working? One win from 14, one from 16? To me, the current situation seems at least as bleak as the early part of last season. And it's not just the lack of wins, but the style of play, which has become conservative and boring.

My previous post crossed with this one. I can't see the Cowleys having had that sort of robust conversation with the owner. And if they did, then he clearly didn't make more money available for players. So the only additional financial commitment made was to the Cowleys! Good for them, but not for the Club.

I know what you mean, but it's also the case that, since day one of their appointments, the Cowleys have been 100% aligned with the owner. I can't recall one occasion where they have even slightly questioned the strategy of the owner. Maybe there was the faintest hint of unhappiness about the Lyle Taylor situation, but other than that, the Cowleys have been only too happy to support the owners financial strategy. So they are also part of the problem. I sincerely hope that in a few weeks we will be on a run, and I will be served a large helping of humble pie, but it's looking unlikely.

At the time of the Cowleys contract extensions, we had won just one out of five league games. Bizarre. There has got to be a lot more to that story, which of course we will never know about.

No, of course it won't, what with their extended contracts, which was always odd, as they hadn't done enough to deserve it. One win in 10 is sackable by most standards, but we're stuck with them, so it seems. They came out for the second half with no apparent belief in their ability to win. Some might say that's down to the players, but I increasingly think it's more about the Cowleys inability to get the best out of what we've got.

If I am honest, it always worries me when my team plays well and doesn’t win. In successful teams, it is a given that when you play well you will win. Everyone knows that it’s not possible to play well every week at these levels. The successful teams win when they play well, find a way to accumulate points when they are mediocre and refuse to lose when they play badly.

DC in today's programme. Must be a very worried man tonight...

Searching for crumbs of comfort, but I think Araujo is going to do well. Some excellent long balls today. I predict he's going to be the Col U van Dijk...

Really annoying if you're recording a match for when you get home and someone randomly mentions the score!! ☹️

You are being incredibly generous. From where I was sat in the East Stand, he looked very ordinary. One or two decent passes but was nowhere to be seen when the ball was in the box. Never looked like scoring. Lisbie continues to pose a huge threat. I would give Mbick a start. Araujo looks excellent. Powell only started to pass the ball forward in the second half. Iandolo is badly missed.

Deserved victory for Super U's we
at 21:18 2 Sep 2025

Yes. They chased everything, and Williams thoroughly deserved his first goal. In midfield, a good performance from Harvey, and a very solid debut from Araujo. The best we've seen so far this season.

Up the U's!

And perhaps use what we've already got more effectively. Start with Lisbie, not Tovide, whose antics get more embarrassing by the week. We are conceding a lot of goals down our left flank - I'm worried that Powell isn't up to the mark defensively. I think we'll see Araujo starting soon if he's fit.

Frustrating. Why do we keep sitting back after going ahead? We looked excellent during the first 10-15 minutes, then started to lose the ball in midfield and getting deeper and deeper...

Araujo looks an interesting signing, as we need more cover at the back. The article mentions an injury last season, so hope we haven't signed another player who's crocked.

CUFC v CUFC at the JCS tonight

I don't think he's helped by DC describing him after an earlier game as "incredible" when objectively his performance was ordinary and forgettable. I think the regular injuries have also hampered his progress, as they do with many promising players.

I had that thought today, but his injury and age is a problem, although that hasn't stopped us signing other older, injured players! Our defence is a problem at the moment, and we can't finish. Is it me, or does Edwards look short of pace compared to last season? The bright spot is the midfield, which looks good, especially Read, who has found some excellent form.

Completely agree re Anderson. I had a ticket issue on Tuesday evening and Michael sorted it out straight away, so good to mention him. I'll take a scrappy 2-1 win today.

Up the U's!
