Smells of poor management. The chairman and Director of Football should be the only ones involved, I've seen secrecy in another business where we later found out the chairman and potential CEO both flew to Paris on different airlines using different airports to meet in rented apartment under the cover of darkness. The price sensitivity of two organisations meant there had to be that way, let alone any reputational risks to those involved or appointed later.
It sounds over the top but the financial and personal impacts can be considerable.
In this case we risk losing AS because we have not managed the confidentiality properly, if I was an owner I'd be fuming. [Post edited 17 Apr 23:26]

Not this time. And those who broke it are intelligent people, in no way was it aimed at them totally either. It’s about those who talk. We reported this with certain blessing from certain quarters. The people doing the blabbing need to look at themselves. What are they actually gaining ? Our sources at the club are hardly used unless it’s things as we reported yesterday that Delcroix is injured, Sheehan confirmed that today. Or maybe a hint on team formations without giving anything away. That’s the skill of good journalism for me. We talk about the intricacies of player dealings and management of transfers to others who can then give us information that we can tie up elsewhere. We don’t rely on one source and nothing we find out is reported unless it’s checked over and over and everyone is protected.
This is the main issue when having good source contact who are totally protected and trust us. Which over time many now do 👍
All I can say publicly is support any account that works hard to get it right most of the time,

Any leaks come from source and within the club.
There has always been leaks and always will be and it's very difficult to control.
If the club are not happy and it tends to be unhappiness if a leak is correct with regards the info, they need to sit down with all individuals who have the info from inside the club and have a good chat about it. |  |

I think it’s deeper than that mate, there’s someone involved in a more basic role at the club who get the information via say booking tickets, general logistics, hotel or plane with loose lips. An admin role. Or who talk to a third party (in fact that’s happened) It isn’t to say utilising information is wrong, it isn’t, but there has to be levels of protection involved plus wording of information is crucial. | |
