Happy St George's Day 08:21 - Apr 23 with 1667 viewsonehunglow

To all our English fans

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Good morning , and why not , out of all the home nations aren't the English less inclined to celebrate their day or are they now so brow beaten down that to fly their flag is deemed to be so racist it isn't worth the effort.

St George. Who was born in Italy, lived in Palestine and a righteous person in Islam.

Yet the far right wave his banner. It's a funny old world.

The flag of St George was adopted by the Normans after they invaded . It was done so that the Saxons white dragon emblem was eradicated . They didnt want visual signs of
" resistance ". It was done as a means to an end and probably chosen because St George
" slew the dragon."

Englishmen write their own history. Never characterized as a "beaten people" subdued by French castles.

I give my views and do not hide. The British Empire was created by the ruling " Norman elite" that has been in power for close on 1000 years. A fearsome brutal force with huge global footprint.

Some Welsh under the shadow of this phenomenal power are subdued and pliant. Not me. Our history is entwined with the Saxons and the ruling elite are still stealing out resources without apology. 25% of our wind power goes directly to the Norman king. It used to be potatoes and parsnips back in the day.

Mustn't grumble.

Perhaps some clever clogs could tap into the hot air you keep producing , just think what an opportunity that would be for Ed Milliband and his plan to steal all of Wales wind

Big opposition brewing against the associated pylons. The Senedd wants to be green while not getting the benefits. It is a different world where non tangible things like wind and things likee creative rights have a value.

The Welsh people perhaps are too dumb to realise it.

Lived in Palestine? He really was a clever bloke.

It seems to have become the norm for both sides to focus on the negative, whether past or present.

Much better off celebrating things like this:

Happy St Georges Day to those who celebrate.

St George was not English and never visited England. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
If he was alive today he probably would not be allowed to visit.

He should defo have a Bank Holiday though, just like Scotland and the north of Ireland.

Sad that that the English folk of canary island are too scared to display any item which denotes them as being English .Just when did they become so afraid of displaying pride in their country, diversity really

But why do you think this applies to our English friends ?

And not to our Irish and Scottish friends ?

Any idea why this might be the case ? 🤷‍♂️

Its nothing to do with diversity clearly.

St Patrick was Welsh not Irish so what is your point.

Christian countries adopt saints from the Christian world they do not need to have been born in that country.

After all Christ was born in Israel and so was St Andrew.
