So who cares about the environment? on 17:03 - May 9 with 784 views | ReslovenSwan1 | There should be a litter surcharge placed on all the inner city takeaway shops of say 50p. An average McDonalds might see 500 transactions a day or more. This wold generate £175 a week or £9000 per store. £4500 for a mere 25p levee. Often McDonlads and KFC are close neighbours. This would cover a new job funded by the consumer who is also the person responsible. The new job would be full time for someone on benefits one mile radius.

We need something like that, 250 Tonnes of waste a year at Barry! Council tax payers are footing the bill.

So who cares about the environment? on 18:13 - May 9 with 751 views | AnotherJohn | I was driving through Swansea recently with somebody from a SE Asian country who commented on how dirty the streets were. She said that people from her country want to come to the UK because they believe it is an advanced Western nation, but wondered what they would think if they saw the Swansea streets. It made me think of something a Times Radio host said a week or two ago about Britain looking more and more like a third world country. In some urban localities it probably does.

Our way of life is being eroded on a daily basis and consecutive governments have and aren't doing f'all about it, because they don't care.

I don't think they are capable if they did care. Every time Starmer opens his mouth it's a load of platitudes and hyperbole, it's like he's been taught a new language, it's all very Orwellian Newspeak. We now of course have non crime hate speech which Orwell called Crime think. [Post edited 9 May 18:42]

Blaming the government is too easy. It is now the 4g telephone culture. People look at the world through their phone and not watch what is at their feet. They are detached from responsibility for where they live.

Six police officers went to arrest two people who posted their displeasure on a private WhatsApp group about a school or teachers at a school, you won't get the police out for car crime or a burglary, absolute jopke and those two people were stuck in a cell for over 20hrs, you couldn't make it up, you really couldn't. Absolutely f'ing pathetic.

Someone who buys a burger for £1.49 doesn't care what they do with the wrapper. To produce that burger sustainably would cost double that on its own. We eat too much and there are too many take aways. I'm an angler myself.

Take a drive or stroll up Townhill Road, the dumping of rubbish on street corners is off the scale. People use it as their own personal waste tip, in fairness the council come along and clear it, next day it's back again

Best not get into factory fishing then, the damage they do bybchainndredging the sea bed. I'm almosy glad I'm getting old, I'll be dead before they completely ruin the world. 75% decline in insect life, the seas being fished til they're empty, more and more houses being built on green land and farmers being put out of business or having to turn arable land over to planting trees...we do eat to much food, too much UHP rubbish but in another 100 years the soil may be ruined, the seas may be dead and humanity will have done itself in and all for money. Humans, the stupidest species on the planet.

Are we fast appraching a time when the bullies rule the streets because the police just don't turn up. Will there be anarchy with people taking the law into their own hands because the police respond to whatsapp comments but not 999?

I am a litter picker. I feel I was well rewarded by my employers and HM Government is better than most. I am happy to c keep the street clean where I live for free. About 3 hours a week.

Too many people just dump stuff, you're right. Take where I live, it's generally not too bad but a few weeks back the local rugby club played away and had a bus, we saw them leave. When they came back they were dropped off just around the corner and we heard them coming back, clearly some had a few beers. I took the dogs out as they were still walking past and some had thrown their empty beer cans onto our gardens. Pointless complaining too, they listen to you but do nothing apart from maybe laugh when you're gone.
