Chet Baker 17:14 - May 10 with 1289 views | colinallcars | No, not a candidate for our new manager, I spluttered in my beer when I read just now that Gen Z are extolling the virtues of Chet and there is an album coming out next week by latterday performers called Chet Baker Reimagined. There is hope yet…
Chet Baker on 17:27 - May 10 with 1206 views | PeterHucker | I like a bit of Chet Baker. I went to this a few weeks ago over Highbury way. Great stuff. Can't say there were a whole load of youngsters though. I'm 54 and I think I might've been the youngest person at the gig!!

Love him. I think he loved London too and Europe. Beautiful voice and exquisite trumpet.

I think he fell to his death from the balcony of a Paris hotel. Nobody ever knew if it was an accident or something else.

| "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

He died in Amsterdam. He was a terrible junkie which is why he looked so haggard only 30 years after his pretty boy heyday. There's a documentary by Bruce Weber called "Let's Get Lost" which follows him around and chronicles his last year. Very depressing but worth a watch if it's still available.
