Saddlers fall at the final hutdle 17:01 - May 26 with 535 viewsdurham_exile

Wimbledon deservedly won the Play Off Final.

Sadly we won't be able to sign Alistair Smith now.

I didn't see the game, taking Alfie back to Bristol after a surprise visit yesterday evening. Will Mat Sadler survive this? Plenty (most?) on the Walsall forum want him out now. So we've lost a reasonably local trip to Plough Lane next season, and possibly an outside chance of signing Alastair Smith, but I think Walsall will be a weaker side than AFCW if the result had gone the other way, so not all necessarily bad news.

Decent welcoming bar at Walsall.

Awful unfriendly stewards and catering at Wimbledon

The right outcome for me!

That is good news, I thought the bar was closed?

I had the same thoughts. Wimbledon are the bigger club and have been competitive in this division for the last couple of seasons and I would've expected them to be up there again next season too. Plus we have a pretty terrible record against them as well.

They won their last four matches 1-0 which tells you quite a lot about them.

The original bar owned by the brewery did close. Last season, we couldn’t get a beer anywhere, including from the adjacent hotel.

However, the Walsall FC Community Trust took over and it is now a super facility that welcomes both home and away supporters. Eased the pain of the 4 - 0 thrashing.

Excellent - the early kick-off and a social event the night before put the kybosh on being there for the 4-0 drubbing, but usually a trip to the Bescot is one of the easier trips from here. Looking forward to giving it a go next season, providing the fixture computer plays nice.
