Very interesting indeed. If the action is successful, it would likely bring an end to transfer fees completely (which would possibly cause the collapse of a large number of professional clubs over time when you chuck FFP rules into the mix). Not good.

On the other hand, players could be shooting them selves in the foot.

If contracts no longer need to be honoured, then there’s no point clubs issuing contracts.
As such, you could get rid of the deadwood a lot quicker.

As for transfers, we’d miss out on a Kelman £3m sale. Over the last 4 years we’ve probably paid him £1m in total so a £2m profit, pretty good. But at the same time the Tyler fella and say JCS sitting on their arse has probably cost us a good 2 mill, if not more.

We’d miss out on that once in a 25 year period transfer a la Eze, Les, Marsh. But at the same time, we’d have to plan a budget around the day to day running of the club rather than this buy and sell dreamworld fiasco that seems to override what should be the main concept, that is, putting a better team on the pitch, something that never quite happens.

Swings and roundabouts, but I sort of hope this fella wins his case.

Very good points. Most players could well be far worse off if this happens (which is a good thing)

How do you get rid of deadwood? There are still employment laws in place meaning you can't just get rid of someone willy-nilly.
