Playing in Europe as an EFL club 18:30 - Sep 7 with 3452 views | NorrisGreen | I often muse about qualifying for European competition by winning the cup but how would it even work now they have these league stages of 7 games before February? I looked at our fixture list and although we have 6 clear midweeks during the euro-months, they don't all align. Even if they did, we'd basically be playing Sat-Wed*-Sat right up to the crammed festive period. *I say Wednesday but it's more likely Thursday so there'd be Saturday's switched to Sundays. How that would fit with Sky matches scheduled for 12:30 is anyone's guess. Basically it'd be an untenable logistical disaster if an EFL team got into Europe. Yes, I'm more likely to scoop the lottery and be struck by lightning whilst getting the cheque than see us qualify for Europe but that's not the point... the game's morphing away from us and we're getting shoved to the periphery and marginalised.

Playing in Europe as an EFL club on 08:56 - Sep 8 by Northernr | Birmingham did it since then I think, won the League Cup and got relegated? Remember them taking 6,000 people to Brugge as a Championship club. This was before group stages mind. Presume they wouldn't have to come into the League Cup till round three? |
I stand corrected! Honestly I would crawl over broken glass for a away day in Brugge.
