Defending too low (and how to start 2nd halves better) 10:28 - Sep 14 with 1049 views | stainrods_elbow | Amid my cautious ebullience yesterday, I noticed in the post-match interview JS again alluding to our defending 'too low on the pitch' (I presume he means 'deep') at the start of the second half - something he also remarked vis-a-vis the Charlton game. The obvious question from the club interviewer was, now that he's noting a pattern, how the coaching team and players plan to deal with it, so that's what I'm wondering. JS also points out that it's virtually impossible to control a game for 90 minutes, especially away, and I'm sure that's right, but how can we address our too passive 20 minutes or so in the same period of both those games (during which, against better teams, we could easily have coneded a couple of goals)? Defending too low (and how to start 2nd halves better) on 10:45 - Sep 14 with 956 views | qprd | It’s not coaching, it’s personnel You defend too deep bc you can’t sustain possession and the other team attacks you wave after wave, which is what happened in most of second half Our solution was the out ball to Burrell who bizarrely was ineffective in second half (other than the goal) after a brilliant first half. He was supposed to be the guy who pushed us up the pitch ordinarily we might’ve had a player like chair on the pitch who can drop into midfield for the ball, keep it and link up possession. Second half would’ve looked a lot different had he played

So, basically, until Ilias is drafted back in, we're doomed to be under the cosh for at least half the game, come what may?
