"We have three strikers proven at Championship level and a fourth in Damian Downs who is adapting to the English game."

Such a meaningless, nonsense statement.

Let's forget DD. We've seen enough to know he's not going to contribute anything.

For the others, the question is how many centre forwards do we have? The answer is only 1, Ross Stewart. It started to look like WS didn't rate him and he wasn't going to play, so it's great that he's in the team now. But the vital question is how many games will our only centre forward be able to play?

If he plays on Saturday that would be 3 championship games in 8 days. Can he do it? After the game last night WS said the fact that he played 75 mins on Saturday and 85 last night was "massive". That's not the kind of thing you say about a player in full fitness, so we'll see.

Thank God that Stewart is finally in the team, but I hope he can keep going through a very demanding season because he's the only centre forward we have.

The international break could be coming at just the right time for Stewart to recharge his batteries

Why is that a "meaningless, nonsense statement." ?

It is actually factual.

Why should we forget about Damian Downs ?

He has found himself in a side playing badly and not providing the strikers with chances

He has only just turned 21 he has played just 4 games in the Championship of which he has started just 1 and has a total playing time of 151 minutes, he hasn't scored but has 1 assist.

How can we judge him in such a short space of time ?

Previous to the game last night Ross Stewart had started 1 game in the League and come on 5 times as a sub for a total playing time of 154 minutes, very similar to Downs stats, yet last night he showed what he can do so why will Downs not do so ?

Too many people write off players without giving them a fair crack of the whip.

Two years ago Adam Armstrong was being written off after a poor season in the Premier League and a start which saw him score from open play just once in his opening games that being a shot that glanced his head as it went in.

All I am saying is give people a fair chance to show what they can do.

Damian Downs might just come up and surprise us this season as Ross Stewart did last night,

Statements can be factually correct while being meaningless nonsense e.g. to say that "we might have won the premier league last year" would be factually correct, but it is meaningless nonsense because it has no bearing on reality.

Equally, to say that we have 4 strikers is factually correct but has no bearing on the reality that we have been desperately short of a centre forward. We are not short of strikers, we are short of centre forwards. Arma, Archer and Downs have all been tried in the role and all failed. If Stewart's fitness doesn't hold up, then this will be a problem all season.

Damian Downs is crap. The ball bounces off him, he couldnt trap a bag of cement. Go and ask Fraser and Manning what they think of his ability.

His age is irrelevant when you look at the fee spent on him. We could pent 2mill on Kieffer Moore who would have made an impact. Or we should of Given Dom Ballard a fair crack from our own academy , he really couldnt of done worse.

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

All im saying is that 151 minutes of Championship football is not enough to judge him, for the last two years we have been slagging off Ross Stewart, last night he proved most of us wrong, the only question is staying fit which he has been for most of this year .

Ross Stewart had some sort of record at this level. I really hope he stays fit and shows us all what a good player he is.

I think Mara is a better comparison with his 25 games last season and 1 goal.
