The real frustration with both penalty incidents is he gave stuff like that as a free kick every single time. Millwall picked up a booking for a “foul” on Kone that looked a very obvious dive to me. Everything single thing is a foul until we cross the line into the box at which point do what you like. |
I totally agree. He clearly saw every incident, just like everyone in attendance in the ground. He didn't hesitate to give free kicks for shirt tugging etc on the halfway line, but refused to blow his whistle for the same foul in the penalty area. That's just unacceptable, the referee's job is to call everything as he sees it, irrespective of where the foul occurs on the pitch.
I know VAR is a curse, but it was born out of frustration like this. |  |
