Can see Hery getting the nod over Done if he's still catching up fitness wise, but the four with Hogan instead of Donnelly would create problems as they're all interchangeable. It won't suit every game, but as a surprise on day one it could cause real problems with Hartlepool's defenders wondering why there's nobody to mark at times. |  |

Surely what this thread shows is what an excellent job Hilly has done so far in building a squad with options and variation. I think it is brilliant that everyone has a different starting 11 . In years gone by it would have been fairly obvious who would be starting and in what positions.
So far in this thread it's easy to understand why people have chosen who they think will start but it's difficult to criticise differences in anyone's choice.

It's harsh on Thomson, but I expect Lillis to get the nod after starting against Preston. O'Connell has been impressive, and I prefer Lancashire to Eastham. Vincenti could come in for Donnelly with Hogan playing further forward.

In the main most people are picking

and then 4 out of 5 from
Vincenti, Done, Henderson, Donnelly, Hogan
Whichever one of the 5 misses out will be unlucky but will almost certainly come on as a substitute unless injury forces Hill's hand I think it might be Hogan as the least experienced as I suspect Hill will want to start with the defensive capabilities of Vincenti and will go with Donnelly up front to start.
Heny, Tutte, Bunney, Thomson, Eastham, will also be on the bench I think plus AN Other.
Whichever way you look at i, it is potentially a strong first 17 players. | | | |

I know we haven't seen the best of Vincenti but I struggle to leave him out, I think when the proper games come around he will shine.
Having such variety in so many different positions, and multiple players vying for multiple positions will keep every one of the team on their toes, I cant remember having such a diverse squad, and so early into pre season. |  |
