What was mentioned on here was how “sustainable” your new club would be. As was a question for some actual figures of how that was going. It would be a bit silly to declare confidence in future “sustainability” without having “fully” digested available information first. Of note, is there information around matchday revenue and season ticket holder numbers? Can this be compared to the costs of the playing squad? If so, that would indicate that faith is well placed. If this can’t be provided to support an argument around sustainability, is it any different to, say, a random football fan celebrating how well their team is doing whilst not being able to specifically point to how that team is being funded? You know, like some Bury fans couldn’t before their club went to the wall. |

To give weight to an opinion that the future could be “very sustainable”. When you get round to reading them fully of course. |

Yes, AFC are much better than the old club at keeping their fans informed. The other question around income and expenses remains unanswered. |
 | Forum Reply | Morecambe at 10:49 25 Oct 2025
All members of Bury AFC get copies of their club’s finances now don’t they? If so, could you tell us what the most recent figures are for income on a monthly basis against costs? Presumably that will give a good indication of how “very sustainable” current and future finances may be. Without that information to back up an opinion it would be similar to, oh I dunno, saying something like “the finances aren’t that much of a concern as we are winning games and are signing Pope/Clarke/Beckford etc etc”. Not that anyone would care so little about the future of their club to do that of course. |

Tyrese Sinclair won’t be involved when we go to York, he’s just joined Solihull Moors on loan. |

Good appointment you’d think at this level. Well, if you respect his record that is. |

The main issue with Bury was that too many of their supporters had no issues cheering on players on huge wages whilst it was pointed out to them the finances didn’t add up. They were warned it wasn’t sustainable and yet the majority stuck their heads in the sand only taking them out to celebrate promotions on the pitch at Tranmere. If they’d done more earlier, demanded answers instead of accepting everything they were told, they might still have a club now. They didn’t, so they don’t. |

Would expect this is now being planned for with all the various international breaks. We should have brought in a permanent no.2 who would play, but now wouldn’t be surprised to see Smith return from Barnsley. Yes, he made a bad error for the York second, but prior to that he’d done well and fit in well with how we play. By January, it may need reviewing again alongside the rest of the squad (City may recall Whatmuff too) |

Couple of changes for York, one looks enforced as Fagan-Walcott missing at the back. He’s been a big player for them and went off on Saturday. Olley in for Batty in midfield who seemed to impress on Saturday. |

Noticed the Southend game is showing as rearranged on various fixture lists for Tues 18/11. That’ll be 6 games in 19 days so the squad will be tested next month. Actually 8 in 26 including the final NL Cup game. Tuesday fixtures four weeks running. |

The Yeovil manager commented before the game how we’d become a very good team built over time, today was a perfect example of that. The starting XI only contained two players who weren’t here last season, but the increase in quality in those two positions (keeper and centre forward) allied to players getting better within a well established way of playing has seen us become confidently effective. The team have looked comfortable throughout the season, as seen when seeing out wins when leading by a goal - nothing much seems to faze them or distract from how they look to control games. Gilmour has mentioned more than once about how when players arrive to add to what we have, it takes time to understand how we play and how he went through that himself. That time has seen us find ways of becoming far more effective whilst retaining the same basic structure and philosophy. That 16/17 side was as relentlessly efficient for a significant period of time, though it took one injury (Bunney) to disrupt that. Let’s hope we don’t see history repeat itself. Interestingly, NML wasn’t featuring much from the start when we were 4th in the league just after Christmas! This current team has a calmness, one which has similarities to the one in 09/10 which looked like they knew they’d win games before they started. However, I still want to see how they react to a sticky patch of a few games. At present that’s not a problem, because we just start winning again after each loss. |

Another comprehensive victory without, as you say, ever having to step up a gear. If we had to, you get the feeling we would have. Controlled and managed the squad well. The enforced changes may be unwelcome, wait to see what McNulty says on those, but Hogan and especially Allarakhia made their mark. The latter offers so much more going forward in games like today and was a constant outlet which created space in other areas. Hopefully Berkoe is back soon though for the different challenges away from home may cause. |

Bird not in the Salford squad today and they’ve just signed Fabio Borini as another striking option. Edit: he’s out with an Achilles injury “ likely to keep him out for a significant period of time.” [Post edited 18 Oct 12:06]

Has it been confirmed at CAB meetings that those present can release information ahead of the official minutes being published? If so, does this apply to all involved, not just certain individuals/organisations? |

I’d agree with their manager too. Thought they looked a really well coached team who all knew their roles. I didn’t go to Forest Green so can only go off the radio commentary there, but would it be fair to say York did similar to what we did last week with respects to controlling the game? York’s ability to slow the game down to actually stopping with the ball seemed to confuse us (and some fans who called for the keeper to be penalised for standing there with the ball at his feet!). The second half changes then confused them! |

On the subject of wingbacks, we just didn’t offer enough to worry York today. Not sure Berkoe is the answer in home games as when he gets pinned back he becomes a left back (have seen some comments about ‘Rochdale’s back five). TS posted earlier about using him away, especially in the games against top sides, but Allarakhia provides more problems for the opposition to think about. |

The changes clearly weren’t too little too late as it changed the game in our favour. The subsequent change saw them gain advantage again. On any ‘play-acting’, we can’t complain after our two previous away games when the keeper has gone down. Something noticed by both sets of home commentary teams. York did to us today what we did at Carlisle and Forest Green - a professional, deserved win. Right now, on games seen, they’d be our main rivals until the Linney/Conn-clarke show proves to be enough to make up for the obvious deficiencies elsewhere in Carlisl’s side.
