The Kone Kon-undrum
at 12:49 27 Oct 2025

I would prefer Kone as a number 9 and Burrell a number 10, or on the wings. I don't like seeing our centre forward back defending. Leave him in attack so that he can be an outlet when clearing the ball. He can come back for corners, with players like Burrell, Smyth, Chair and Dembele being left in attack for any breakaway (especially as given their height they are not likely to win many headers defending these set pieces).

Cookie on today's defeat
at 12:41 27 Oct 2025

Mistakes and off days happen in football and Millwall and Derby were 2 of those.
However, think that QPR could benefit from not selecting players to play in positions not really suited to them.

In this case I refer to Vale. He is a good midfielder and is good with his left foot, but he doesn't use his right foot and when he plays on the right wing always cuts back to his left foot and slows the attack down. QPR should select Smyth, Burrell and Poku, when he is fit to play. Maybe even put Chair on the right or Saito, even Bennie, but not Vale. Vale should play central or on the left wing. To some extent the same goes for Chair on the left wing although he does seem to make a better contribution from that side than Vale does on the other.

Both of those could be better in central positions. Chair as a number 10 and Vale as a number 8.

Edit
I have just read the Dembele thread and realised this post was better suited on there.

Is it Hamer time?
at 12:16 27 Oct 2025

Can't argue with the points you make.

He isn't particularly good at dealing with crosses, but he is at shot stopping. The way he was treated in the summer was appalling imo. Neither Hamer or Walsh will be better, so he should stay in the side for now.

The club tried to get Dieng back on loan in August, so perhaps they will try again in January. In the mean time the team will have to work harder at stopping the crosses or deal with them rather than rely on Nardi to come out and catch the ball.

Oh, and I agree with those who point out that Nardi has pulled of some match winning saves this season too.

QPR convert 3.7 million worth of loans into shares

Good on Rueben and his children. Let's hope their loyalty lasts for many year to come. Hopefully the club's on pitch fortunes will continue to improve and QPR is back in the Premiership for a lengthy spell.

Agreed.

just s thought, but wouldn't it be possible for Westport to sponsor the club short and stadium for a reasonable amount of money over a 10 year deal rather than Copybet or some other gambling outfit for a pittance?

As always, it s the fans I feel sympathy for. The owner should have sold up.

And yes, the QPR owners know little about running the club, but at least they care and are funding it. It’s better to have such owners instead.

Celar / Madsen - Sliding Doors
at 12:55 24 Oct 2025

Celar has done nothing on loan at Düsseldorf and is now a bench warmer, so no, he would not be better than Frey.

As for Madsen. he showed last season that he had a talent for passing, but has upped his game and now gets tackles and blocks more frequently in games.

Hopefully he will continue to improve and make it into the Premiership.

What should QPR do with Sam Field moving forward?
at 22:07 23 Oct 2025

I don't know what game you were watching, but he didn't make any great howlers nor was he skinned by any attackers down his flank. It's true he never made the attacking full back runs that RND has been making, but I think he put in a solid defensive left back performance .

The Harvey Vale Conundrum
at 17:03 22 Oct 2025

Agree about the squad depth ,but especially about Field. He could have been brought on for Verane to make the midfield a bit more competitive.

Vale will be playing in a more central position when Poku returns. He may even be benched if Chair gets his place back.

Wegerle's solo is probably my favourite QPR goal. Absolute class.

I was also gutted when Francis sold him. If he had stayed he could have made a similar impact to the one Stan made in the team of the 70s.

Chair will come back into the team and I believe we will see him closer to where he was when alongside better players such as Eze, BOS, Wells, Willock and Austin (loan spell).

I agree that Frey did not play well, but he set up a great early chance for Smyth and was involved in the build up to the latter's second chance. Had those gone in we don't know how his game would have been.

Field offers a goal threat from set pieces, something neither Verane, Hayden or Madsen do.

They have a few things they do well (including not messing around with the clock i.e. BST) and others they don't - just like many others.

He is not the only one . Putin, Erdoğan, and the Belarusian among a long list of African and middle Eastern presidents of ill repute who acted more like tyrants rather than elected heads of state.

Kone - too slow to go?
at 19:36 7 Oct 2025

I think you are right about Chair creating chances in games for players who couldn't score and he will probably be in an expectant mood when he gets on the pitch with those two in the line up. A huge upgrade on Dykes, Bonne & Celar

absolutely spot on.

It's good to have strikers who can run, score and create chances. We now go to watch the games with expectation rather than hope of scoring goals.

how long he or anyone else on form stays is out of our hands, so let's relax and enjoy watching them whilst they are here
