Sad but true, another blow for the Cowley's.

Details from the Gazette below.

LYLE Taylor has announced that his time at Colchester United is over.

The 35-year-old striker has confirmed he will not be returning to the U’s, following the expiry of his previous contract earlier this summer.

Taylor, who was Colchester’s top scorer last season, had been offered a new deal at the end of last season.

But the former Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic striker, who is still recovering from a calf injury at the end of last season, has said today that he has played his last game for the U’s.

Writing on his Instagram account, Taylor said: “The time has come for me to leave Colchester.

“Due to circumstances beyond mine and the management’s control, the option to stay at the club has been taken away.

“It’s sad to leave a place that took me in and treated me so well, a fanbase who did nothing but support and love me.

“A management staff and team who suffered my s**t jokes and loudness, with the occasional goal and sometimes even some good football from the old boy.

“To Danny Cowley, Nicky Cowley, every single member of back room staff, my teammates, the training ground staff and the stadium staff, thank you.

“I’ll miss you, love you all and wish you nothing but success in the future.

“To the fans, you’re brilliant. Home, away, in the shops, in the community, respectful, caring and simply wanting the best for your football club, thank you.

“And to one man who has left an indelible mark on me, Matt Calmus, you are the man! I appreciate you bud!

“Go well in the future U’s LT33.”

Taylor's announcement comes as a blow to U's coaches Danny and Nicky Cowley, who were eager to keep the experienced striker at the club for this season.

He was a huge hit in his first season for Colchester last year, finishing as their top goalscorer with 13 goals in 40 league and cup appearances.

I think Samson would be happier moving to a London club or at least some club close to it, I don’t see him being very settled living up north and Barnsley is not the nicest of places! No doubt money will talk though, if they offer him a good deal his agent will probably talk him into it.

No the seats in E1 haven’t been replaced, I doubt RC will want to pay for it.

I have been a member of Shrimperzone for many years, I have a relation who is a Southend fan so I take an interest in what goes on there. Goodliffe is getting ripped apart on there, they don’t rate him at all saying he is far too slow to be playing at that level and also that he has a mistake in him every time he touches the ball. I don’t think it is doing Ben any good playing there, he is in and out of the team and is probably getting abuse from the home support. I think he has struggled after his serious injury, in August 2022 he suffered a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament injury, which kept him out for 6 months. The previous season he was a leading player in Suttons promotion season, he was in the National league team of the season 11 wearing the number 5 shirt.

Anderson had a slight injury and passed a fitness test but DC decided to rest him and use other options available to him, I suspect he will be back for the next game.

The Wycombe fans are mainly understanding of his position, and realise why he has left, their very decent Head of recruitment Scott Mitchell fell out with the powers that be there and got kicked out just before Christmas, he was immediately snapped up by Oxford. I think Wycombe may well drop down the table now, as we well know interference from above is rarely a good thing!

Richard Thomas, Lee Harrison and Ben Cirne have all left Wycombe to join Matt at Luton, sounds like there are big problems behind the scenes, the new owner and directors are not popular!

Bloomfield confirmed as new Luton manager, sounds like Matt and the new owner didn’t see eye to eye, both the Luton assistant managers have left suggesting Matt is bringing in his own backroom guys.

EDIT!

Sorry I didn't mean to attach this to the previous post!

Apparently although he has gone back to Pompey at present Scully may come back to us on loan in a couple of weeks if his injury continues to heal.

Shewsbury are doing very badly so I doubt the ambitious and wealthy fairly new owners of Wycombe will want him, I can see them going for a fairly big name by league one standards.

Kabamba is 31 now so probably only has 3-4 years left to play in the EFL!

Yes O’Rourke mentioned that on X yesterday, it would seem several other league 2 and National league clubs are looking at Daniel too. He does seem like a decent prospect but so did Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and Dan Holman!

Sounds like Luton will get their £3 million for Joe Taylor! From Pete O'Rourke on X Huddersfield Town are set to confirm the signing of long-term target Joe Taylor in a permanent deal from Luton Town. The deal is worth in excess of £3m and is a huge statement of intent from Huddersfield in the battle for promotion from League One.

Bim Pepple has just been recalled by Luton from his loan at Southend, I suspect they will loan him out again to someone in league 2, I wonder if we are in for him?

Makes me wonder if a deal is in the offing for Samson, so we are waiting to see how that pans out 1st. We did sell a lot of players in the last few months but no doubt the payments will come through in agreed stages.

Probably! But it’s only a loan and he is a clever experienced striker who may well have a purple patch as he has previously.
