Best flight/service/food etc on a plane
at 22:37 16 Sep 2025

Been privileged to fly mostly business and first class during my career.
1. Qatar Airways - Qsuite is fantastic and a real experience.
2. First class BA in the mid 90’s was untouchable.
3. Singapore Airlines - first class is just luxury.
4. Pleasant surprise -EVA Airways business.

Worst flight / service / food etc on a plane?
at 17:58 15 Sep 2025

Spent too much of my working life traveling on planes. Two very memorable moments:

1. Heathrow to Boston - Feb 2003. Enormous snowstorm and two very difficult attempts at landing. I couldn’t see outside due to the volume of snow. Bumped into the crew in customs and the BA Captain said it was the most challenging weather he had ever landed in his many years of flying.

2. London - Cork - Jan 2013. Insane winds literally throwing the aircraft from side to side. I honestly thought my time was up. The Aer Lingus crew made it on the second attempt.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report
at 09:09 25 Aug 2025

Clive, it’s important to remember that you are highly respected by a very large portion of the fanbase and that includes me. These arse-holes, on social media sites, sit behind a keyboard and don’t have the balls to call stuff out - unlike you.
Unfortunately, I now believe the club is orchestrating a lot of this and it’s time to fight-back. Yes, take a break and let yourself heal. However, when you’re ready be the brilliant journalist that you are and start to hold the cabal that is currently running the club to account.
Nourry has lit the blue touch paper and the fan-base is literally going to explode - it’s inevitable. Your oversight and reporting has always been accurate and honest. When your ready , sharpen up your “pen” and let Nourry know you’re not going away easily.

A mid 20’s no nothing is running the club - we’re fecked!
at 23:10 23 Aug 2025

Plenty of knowledgeable people saw this coming including Clive. Just think about the implications of a mid 20’s CEO (who didn’t fool Marti) lording it over an established European manager.
The whole scenario is fecking insane and the owners need to call it out. What an embarrassment.

Julien Stephan - BBC London interview
at 10:31 22 Aug 2025

I suspect our great leader is working on the premise that us “old farts” don’t really count anymore. Better to play to a part of the house that’s excited by the spin of doing something which sounds new which us “old farts” know is nothing of the sort.
My guess is he will win this round given the use of social media in playing this up has a far greater impact on the younger fan base rather than message boards frequented by cynical and right-minded “old farts”
Essentially, he doesn’t give a shit about the fan base over 45’’s he’s playing to a different audience and he wants us to know in.
As an aside I see Amanda Staveley, her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben were spotted in Mayfair this week. Now, I wonder what R’s Director has his base in Mayfair? Another project perhaps?

Some great and opposing views on this thread. I'm not sure which side to bat on as both have sensible views/comments. However, as an "old fart" I am really reminded of this wonderful quote from the legendary Bill Shankly which I think is apt for where I see the club today.
"At a football club, there’s a holy trinity: the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques".

What a load of bollocks to suggest that none of those development players will make the first team this season based on one game.
I think Tylon Smith might breakthrough as he develops further.

Let’s give the U23’s some massive credit here. Plymouth have literally thrown the kitchen sink at this and have most of their first team squad around and after 80 mins they have nicked it 3-2. For many of the lads on the pitch this is their first experience of men’s professional football.
Great experience for them.

Clive -how are you going to explain that we’ve managed to sign a player who’s apparently injured and was going to cost €500K?
Now said player is still injured and we’ve got him on a free. Can’t wait to hear what our wonderful fitness team have to say about it.
Prime-time R’s.

If Celar is the answer what's the question 🤔
at 13:55 11 Aug 2025

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck - it’s probably a duck.

Celar is so far off Championship material it’s embarrassing. We don’t have the luxury of carrying him and hoping he hits 10-15 goals this season because it’s not going to happen.

Our esteemed CEO states that if a development players isn’t knocking on the first team door by 18 then he’s never going to make that transition and it’s time to move on.

By that simple measure Celar has to be moved out either on loan or on a reduced transfer fee. He’s not worth a place in the starting 11or squad.

Typical Championship fare. Both sides looked well ordinary but play like that the rest of us will fancy it.
So ordinary but that’s ghe Championship.

Webinars

I’ve been retired 3yrs now and don’t miss work. I did work for an incredibly forward thinking corporate (not a tech giant) who had brilliant governance on these types of meetings.
Essentially, no Teams or Web based interactions could be longer than 45 mins and no more than 10 members of staff could attend.
We were encouraged to call-out poor management of these meetings if the host exceeded the rules. The approach was based on fixing issues quickly and not loitering to discuss mistakes - that could wait until the projects or work was completed.
Generally, the company was stellar at delivering very complex projects, working to budget and having incredibly accurate debriefs.

Marti to Leicester…maybe
at 14:41 9 Jul 2025

Well you can see why they might be interested in Marti. They are facing some tough financial issues even with their parachute payments.
Marti knows the Championship and won’t get them relegated. Will be interesting to see how he performs with that squad and more resources albeit slim - it seems. Good luck to him.
The compensation is business and nothing more - let’s move on.

Well, if you can’t defend in the Scottish league you have no hope in the Championship. Surely, he’s going to be on the bench as a backup to a more seasoned defender in that position?
