Refwatch - Wealdstone v Rochdale

Last Saturday's disaster is well and truly put behind us after back to back wins.

A shame that the York fixture has been postponed as going there as league leaders would have been a good thing imo.

Strongest available XI today please against the part timers of Wealdstone, let's not make the same mistake as Saturday as the aim should be to burst the 100 points barrier as quick as possible this season and see where that leaves us.

Is McNulty the 'worse manager we've ever had'
at 07:23 26 Aug 2025

We just about got over the line yesterday.

11 changes on Saturday and 11 changes yesterday, it's madness!

Just go out and try and win every game!

Mcnultys defence

McNulty isn't going to get us out of this league.

I've literally got no idea what to expect today!

Wednesday was brilliant and then we had Saturday's car crash, what does he do today?? Start the same XI from the Gateshead game? But then that throws Saturday's starting XI under the bus, he really is the worst manager that we ever have had.

Absolutely brilliant tonight!

I've been a McNulty critic but that tonight was first class, we bullied Gateshead right from the off!

Another name thrown into the motm mix Aiden Barlow.

The Ogdens have backed the manager this summer. It really is make or break for him this season now, Carlisle and York should be the two teams to beat on paper now so let's see how it goes🤷.

A fantastic signing and exactly what need up top, if we play to his strengths he'll score goals.

There's a photo doing the rounds on Twitter of him 'Signing On' for us which looks heavily photoshopped, me thinks 'billhall' is WUM.

BBM to Cardiff, lump on them for back to back relegations.

NL playoff final

Well done to Oldham and in particular Micky Mellon, at least we don't have to put up with their bellend fans next season now.

There's a lesson to be learned there about how they approached the playoffs.

I must admit 21'000 is poor for a club of Oldham's size, after all they are 'founder members of The Premier League'.

1-0 to Southend early on.

I work with a lad who knows Linney and Carlisle along with Bromley were both in for him in January but he didn't want to relocate at the time. I'll find out off my colleague next week if we were in for him this time.

Hosannah has good pedigree at this level and has the experience of promotion with Wrexham, so on paper he's the exact sort of signing that we need.

Doolan was the experienced midfielder on the bench?? He came on against Darlo after Perkins was sent off and was an absolute liability and should have been sent off himself?

Perkins being suspended for the final cost us that final.

Remember Chris Basham? Midfielder who we had on loan from Bolton until the end of that league season but Bolton wouldn't extend the loan for the playoffs for some reason that I can't remember, not having Basham for the playoffs cost us too.

Five have if you're down that route, Barnet, York, Forest Green, Oldham and Southend.

Edit Aldershot and the part time manager of Spennymoor went one better than a Semi Final too.

There was no remit given last summer as far as I can remember.

It was said that a playoff budget would be given to the manager, we made the playoffs ✅.

The manager said at the Fans Forum on the eve of the season that we would take the FA Trophy seriously this time because he felt that he had the squad to do so, we reached the Semi-Finals ✅.

If that is the bare minimum that was expected of the manager then fair play.

I feel that we've missed a real trick this season having now seen how the season has panned out.

The FA Trophy, we reached the Semi-Final and lost to a part time team who then were comfortably despatched in the final by a team who we did the league double over.

The League, we finished 4th in a terrible division. Barnet and York were nothing special, I know we had two heavy defeats at home against them both but a lot of what went on in those two games were down to our own undoing. The two away fixtures against both sides I feel that we should have got something from those games. We then come to the numerous terrible performances against part time teams and the teams that were relegated, they have been the games that have cost us.

We've missed an opportunity this season, it's been such a poor league.

I get stick from people for saying that he 'is the worst manager that we have ever had' but there was a collective groan in The Pearl Street last night when that first sub was made because we knew what was coming, it was so predictable.

If we are to progress the way that The Ogdens wants us to do then we need to be back in The EFL asap, I don't watch the manager's pre/post match interviews because of the same robotic crap that he comes out with but if he did actually say that we weren't ready to move back up to The EFL on the eve of a playoff game then that tells you everything about the blokes ambition.

Finally next season will mark the manager's 10th season with us as a player and manager, he'll be due a testimonial.

I remember Simpson and Eyre as well those that you have mentioned!

I get that it was a dead rubber for us yesterday but losing games like that is a common theme under McNulty.

I 100% want him to succeed and shove all my critism of him back down my throat but I just can't see it, do people honestly think that we've got three good performances in us to get us over the line and back in The EFL?
