I work with a lad who knows Linney and Carlisle along with Bromley were both in for him in January but he didn't want to relocate at the time. I'll find out off my colleague next week if we were in for him this time.
Hosannah has good pedigree at this level and has the experience of promotion with Wrexham, so on paper he's the exact sort of signing that we need.
Doolan was the experienced midfielder on the bench?? He came on against Darlo after Perkins was sent off and was an absolute liability and should have been sent off himself?
Perkins being suspended for the final cost us that final.
Remember Chris Basham? Midfielder who we had on loan from Bolton until the end of that league season but Bolton wouldn't extend the loan for the playoffs for some reason that I can't remember, not having Basham for the playoffs cost us too.
There was no remit given last summer as far as I can remember.
It was said that a playoff budget would be given to the manager, we made the playoffs β .
The manager said at the Fans Forum on the eve of the season that we would take the FA Trophy seriously this time because he felt that he had the squad to do so, we reached the Semi-Finals β .
If that is the bare minimum that was expected of the manager then fair play.
I feel that we've missed a real trick this season having now seen how the season has panned out.
The FA Trophy, we reached the Semi-Final and lost to a part time team who then were comfortably despatched in the final by a team who we did the league double over.
The League, we finished 4th in a terrible division. Barnet and York were nothing special, I know we had two heavy defeats at home against them both but a lot of what went on in those two games were down to our own undoing. The two away fixtures against both sides I feel that we should have got something from those games. We then come to the numerous terrible performances against part time teams and the teams that were relegated, they have been the games that have cost us.
We've missed an opportunity this season, it's been such a poor league.
I get stick from people for saying that he 'is the worst manager that we have ever had' but there was a collective groan in The Pearl Street last night when that first sub was made because we knew what was coming, it was so predictable.
If we are to progress the way that The Ogdens wants us to do then we need to be back in The EFL asap, I don't watch the manager's pre/post match interviews because of the same robotic crap that he comes out with but if he did actually say that we weren't ready to move back up to The EFL on the eve of a playoff game then that tells you everything about the blokes ambition.
Finally next season will mark the manager's 10th season with us as a player and manager, he'll be due a testimonial.
I remember Simpson and Eyre as well those that you have mentioned!
I get that it was a dead rubber for us yesterday but losing games like that is a common theme under McNulty.
I 100% want him to succeed and shove all my critism of him back down my throat but I just can't see it, do people honestly think that we've got three good performances in us to get us over the line and back in The EFL?
More of a volley this one, think it was the next home game after the Leeds game. Great work from George Donnelly for Jamie Allen's goal too!
The really sad thing is that Tuesday night's goal could have been his last goal for usπ. He's scored some spectacular and really important goals for us over the years so let's hope that he's still got one or two huge goals left in him for us!
Try and break the bank to sign him if The Odgens would like to go down that route. An absolute bully of a centre forward and would give us a massive chance of getting out of this league next season.............unless he can carry us over the line this season π.
A really entertaining afternoon! Football played how it should be played!
If we go into the playoffs trying to win games like that then we have every chance, football is a simple game and doesn't need to be overcomplicated by know it alls.
We are like a box of frogs - you can't predict what type of performance that we are going to put in and that is what is so frustrating when you consider the calibre of some of the teams that we have dropped pointed against.
It really is going to be a wasted opportunity this season and I'll purley put it down to McNulty.
