And mat I add to this his heading ability. Given his height the number of times he out jumps players much taller than him. And every time he gets fouled he gets up with a big smile on his face. Love the lad, best signing of the summer as he brings a natural enthusiasm that you can see affects the rest of the team. |

Bastárd!!!! I’m turning my toes at 95 years 10 months and 15 days. 10th March 2062. Better start arranging the funeral now I suppose! Anyone want the remaining games on my season ticket for the 61/62 season? Leg room is still cramped! |

When raising the state pension age the government by law would have to give a minimum of 10 years notice to those who it would effect. So you’re ok. |

Sold my financial services business last year at the age of 58 and then spent a year accompanying advisers to meet my old clients. Very humbling experience to say the least. Bought a house six months ago on the south coast near the Solent and have spent the summer doing the place up, new bathrooms, new flooring and a whole load of decorating. And not needed to live in it whilst the work has been done. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it, accompanied by the radio and the odd tradesman and today is moving in day. Still some work to do but that’ll see me through the autumn. Pop into London for the R’s, a bit of Shakespeare and a few lunches with friends. Have I missed my career? Not one jot. Looking forward to hopefully a long, happy and healthy retirement. |

One positive one not. During the Coventry match the number of times one of our players in space collecting a high ball just headed it aimlessly without any thought, with Verane being the main culprit. Yesterday it wa as delight to see players literally passing their headers to each other even under pressure from an opposing player. This made such a difference in ball retention. But my. Biggest bug bare remains. Every player back for corners. It just invites further pressure and allows the opposition a further bite of the cherry. Wrexham twice threatened to score from our corners, as Preston actually did and I think Coventry also by leaving players on the half way line. Given that we now have plenty of speed in the team, a quick ball out to the flanks and players like Burrell, Saito and Dembele will revel in the chance of one on ones with opposition defenders. Also less players in the penalty box must surely give the keeper more chance of getting the ball. |

And brains. What an absolute steal of a signing. Caused Hollywood problems all afternoon. |

Tom Bola and the rest of the SS self reported after the war criminal left. Therefore they have admitted their guilt and no doubt this will be taken into mitigation and consequently we will be deducted points, fined another £20million and LR closed for six months. That’ll teach them! In all seriousness any fine should be akin to ours based on the value of the club. I doubt very much they’ll get a points deduction as it doesn’t fit with the PL in terms of ‘the most exciting league in the world’ |

Got to mention Burrell. I like him a lot and his pace and energy caused their defence a lot of problems when he came on. And if he doesn’t get credited for an assist for Kobe’s goal then there is no justice. Just watch him nick the ball past the two Charlton defenders for Kone to run onto. Great touch. Glad for the win but there is a still a lot to do. Far from convinced by Verane’s performances over the last two games, seems at times he hasn’t got a brain. Dembele should look at himself. Lazy, half-hearted unless he has a clear run with the ball and I think it was shameful that when he was substituted he just trudged off, for Christ sake, we are drawing at home against a poor side and getting overrun and he just trudges off! And if anyone doubted the wisdom of signing Saito. That lad turned the game completely. Competed, put his foot in where it hurt, drew fouls, had one great shot saved and scored what in reality was the winner. If all our players had the same attitude as him we would walk this league. |

Might not be the tallest Brian but I cannot recall him being outjumped by any opponent last season and I think it may have been the Derby home match when his salmon like leap led to the third or fourth goal. He’s prepared to put his foot in where it hurts and he has no little skill. A real bastàrd to defend against and can run all day which hopefully will help the ‘press’ which Stephán talks about but which I’ve seen little of so far. To do as well as he did last season, his first in England speaks volumes of the lad. And I think with Kone and Burrell and Poku he will create a fair few chances. Very happy to see him back. |

Joking aside, I cannot understand why Kone hasn’t started either of he games he could have played. Surely he would have had a full pre-season with Wycombe and I assume he played in their first two games of the season? Maybe in the eyes of the fabled Ben Williams he is actually ‘over-cooked’? This concept might be the right strategy in the world of cycling but it certainly isn’t in football. |

I know what I’d say. It isn’t pleasant but to me he hasn’t got a clue about team selection. And then we have Steve Bould our defensive coach who won’t be at weekend matches. If ever a defence needed a coach on the touchline to sort out the defence it is now. Just get a proper English manager who knows this league to take charge. And Nourry can do one as well. |

My son got his results yesterday. 18 months ago he had two ungraded results in maths exams in a row, his other subjects were bottoming out as well and the general consensus was that he was lazy. I was really stunned by this and I more than suspect that he was suffering more than he let on about his parents divorcing which to say the least was very acrimonious. And I admit I had taken my eye off the ball with his schooling. Anyway, his big love is aviation and since being knee high to a grasshopper he has always wanted to be a pilot. So me and Josh reached an agreement which also included I’m out from his teachers which involved them advising me on his attitude and work each month. In return Josh would get a flying lesson each month. His maths was just below a 5. In total in old money he would have had 6 C’s and 2 D’s. In one meeting with his science teacher earlier this year he told me he had never witnessed such a turnaround in a pupils work and attitude and that it was such a pleasure to witness! And the flying? Josh has now accumulated 27 hours of flying, is now ready to go solo and is well on course to get his private pilots licence (PPL) by early next summer once he is 17. Then he will start on his journey to get his Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL), hopefully being picked up by an airline and if not, he will continue this journey through his flying school. Really proud of him. Well done my son! |

I believe that the FFP headroom is being increased as it has remained at £39million losses on a rolling three year period for years and has not taken into account inflation. In addition to this the new TV deal for the EFL and also PL which provides some funding for the EFL has increased revenue. Then you can take into account the getting rid of a load of DS players from last season who must collectively been paid too much for very little and also the release of Colback and Fox. It also seems that the club is taking a leaf from North Battersea book of buying young players, plus those released from PL academies. Develop these players including the likes of Poku and Kone and sell them on for a good profit. Making sure also that they have a decent length of contract which more and more appeal to players as it gives them greater security. Transfer fees on the balance sheet are spread over the term of the contract and the sale of the player appears on the balance sheet instantaneously. So the sale of Kelman is a £3m credit and the purchase of Burrell if the fee was £1.3m with a five year contract would show as a £260k debit. So we would still have a net credit of £2.74m based on those two transactions. |

Easy to explain. Last January Wycombe were very much in the hunt for the second promotion place and keeping Kone was a risk they would have thought worth taking as his goals could very much have helped them to promotion with the added benefits of much higher income from TV and gate receipts. The fact is now he is in the last year of his contract, like Kelman so they need to cash in now to avoid walking away, or receiving a much lower compensation payment as he is under 24 (like Poku who could us a fraction of his worth compared to if he was still contracted to Posh). Kelman obviously made it clear that he wasn’t going to sign a new contract so getting £3million for someone who cost the club £250k was great business for the club especially in these days of FFP, whereby the club can put all that money against FFP and if we sign Kone for a similar amount and assuming it’s a five year contract the annual amortised cost to the club is £600K on a £3million purchase price. And that gives us time to hopefully develop him to a level where we can get a much larger fee in the future. |

Referring to the OP, can beat him with regards to Alan Devonshire. He lived next door to my Nan and Aunt in Perivale, Welland Gardens. Remember me and my brother both getting signed West Ham footballs from him one Xmas. Their 1980 FA Cup winning team. No intention of keeping them for keeps sake. Went straight onto the grass and within months were worn out. We were both third generation Rangers and nothing was to sway us. Alan himself was a Rangers supporter as a kid and like many other very talented players who made it big was rejected by Rangers as a 14 year old, although to be fair to the club at the time we were producing some outstanding homegrown talent. But as for ever having the thought of supporting another club? Nah. Never. And am i envious of supporters of the big clubs, laden with silverware and shiny new grounds and multi billion pound squads? Nope. Given me my R’s any day of the week. Our infrequent successes are that more special, or players whether good or bad are ours, the kit is the best in the league. Only one other team plays in something similar but manage to fûck that up year after year. Loftus Road is beautiful. A proper football ground. And the legends of the club, never to be forgotten. |

I certainly feel we have a better and more balanced squad than last season. Lacarche I don’t think is the disaster waiting to happen at left back and I suspect that Harvey Vale could be a more than reliable back up. In defence Morrison continues to impress and Mbengue will provide back up both in CD and at right back. If JCS could ever get himself fit then we have a very decent defence. Midfield I actually think we have our strongest collection of players for many a season, Field, Varane, Madsen (improving very quickly), Vale, Chair, Poku, Dembele, Smyth, Sutton, Morgan is quite a source of talent. Up front, Burrell, I’m sure we are all waiting to see if he is another Washington or that fabled 20 goal striker, (10 would do me), Frey, I like Frey. Hopefully more fit than injured and Kholli, who I hope can develop further from last season. But with the midfield I feel that the majority of goals this season will come from there and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both Chair and Poku hit double figures. The only question mark for me is the coach. Never heard of Stephán before so I hope that he will get the side playing some great one touch flowing football. If so then it is a top ten finish for me. |

For those of us of a certain age, growing up in the 70’s, the chequerboard and the stick men have a real meaning that QPR were different to any other club. Love that the chequerboard design is coming back to the programmes this season and I hope they retain it infinitum as it is part of our heritage. Love the new shirt, maybe missed a trick with a blue shoulder and hopped sleeves to complete the 76’ look but I might even be tempted for the first time in a decade to buy one. And when you think back to the shît that Nike produced for us it just shows that the smaller kit produces are the best. (Now watch out for diagonal hoops for next season!😂) |
