Glad you are happy Rob Shaker. I remember when FC UNited were created as a breakaway club for disenfranchised Man Utd supporters. They were getting gates like yours initially. Now they average about 1200. Not bad for a Northern Premier side - but still hard to be sustainable. Will be interesting to see where your gates go if you have a few seasons without a promotion push.

Yes we need to do better and have always struggled to get to c5,000 fans. The Board know that history is against them, but they also know that the fans we have are very loyal, very supportive and very engaged. Nobody will be pulling wool over our eyes. It will be good for North West Football for you to climb a few leagues. But don't take anything for granted, especially the support. Bragging about support is more akin to the way Bradford city behave - although at least they do have the supporters to back their claims up.

Rochdale AFC - never been in adminstration and have always paid its creditors and suppliers in full for over 100 years.

Trust AGM?

You make some very valid points there. But I don't think it has had its day. It just needs to reflect on why it exists, and how it can reconnect to the fanbase and it's members. A successful football club with happy fans generally has an active supporters club. Its not about just saving the club when things go wrong, its about ensuring that we feel like we have a stake in the club and that opinions are heard and ideas shared.

The Trust has been wrestling within itself since it took on the fight to save the club. I am sure it was exhausting and bruising for the volunteers and those that helped them. I don't think the Trust Board has recovered, and now we are in a period of calm, it is time to reflect on their role and how they can reconnect. Because one day, a healthy and thriving Trust will need to represent the fans again, when things are going off course. There is no guarantee that the Ogdens will always have our back (there is no implied suggestion in that comment). The new forums you allude too are all very laudable, but they have been set up by the club management and the club will always drive their agenda. The Trust should always be independent.

I suspect the reason for not communicating the member numbers is the poor level of renewals. In effect, the Trust is embarrassed and needs to come clean and seek fans support. I too have not renewed this year. I had every intention of doing so, but I thought the behaviour of the Trust towards those fans on here wanting an EGM was disgraceful. The way the 'Trust on the Board' role was communicated and designed was also disgraceful. The lack of communication to members after George's resignation was shocking. It has lost its way, but it can recover it. I really hope it does. Disbanding it now would be a sign of failure and signal a lack of unity amongst the fans. Apathy is a terrible state to be in - whether as a fan or a Trust. Elect a Board that the fans can resepct and get behind, be really clear about your purpose and your objectives, now and into the future, and engage, engage, and engage.

Hogan not put a foot wrong. We have been in control and could have more than 3. Fergusons cheating on 3 minutes has taken him from being loved to abused by the fans. The third goal could have been stopped by him but I think it went under him. Karma. Mani needs to score his hatrick and come off to avoid a second yellow

Does anybody know who the Trust Chair is? I still don't recall seeing anything since Judd stepped down.

FA Cup 4th Q- York City (H) 11th Oct -Match Thread

I agree with that. We have 29 players....not many sides at this level have the playing squad depth we have. We have to want to win cup games too - if nothing else because it will bring fans through the gate. Playing most of our first 11 suggests we did intend to win it. There were a lot of new fans at the game on Saturday and they will have gone home disappointed. I was chatting to one of them - and he won't be coming back. He was expecting an exciting game given our league position.

On a seperate note - did anybody think there were a lot of police at the game on Saturday. Including some that appeared to be from Cheshire Police. Maybe it was a training game. But I wasn't expecting any problems with York fans. Although do think it is about time the authorities started fining clubs for offensive chanting. We don't tolerate anything racist, sexist, homophobic and quite rightly so, but fans thinking that singing about paedo's at a football match is okay need to be called out. It has to be punished or it will continue. It's not funny.

To be fair we have been doing that all season...Jim will argue that Man City do that too so there is nothing wrong with it.

Why did we defend set pieces so deeply and leave Newby and others free to take a shot from a weak header out....twice. Anyway it's over. Not a great watch apart from about 15 minutes in the second half. York very organised but completely boring to watch.

I tend to agree. But listening to the Interview with East and Gilmore, they talk about the FA Cup giving chances to players that aren't playing. That may not mean wholesale changes - obviously with two players on International duty there has to be some. But I suspect we will see 4 or 5 changes. I wonder whether the Ogdens have been clear on the need for a cup run to pay towards the pitch rebuild or not. Afterall we can't expect an open cheque book.

Just hoping for a decent game

I am more glass half full. It is down to McNulty that we have won 9 out of 11 games this season and have more points per game than any other club in this division. He has attracted some great players to strengthen his squad. He has sought support from the Board to strengthen the coaching team. We were all crying out for Jim to have experience around him to help him with key decisions. After all the dross we have witnessed over the past 5 seasons, I am surprisngly upbeat and the manager has really surprised me. So well done McNulty.

As I made my long journey home at 1am after a defeat I would normally be quite miserable. More so given the M62 closure. But instead I had thoroughly enjoyed the game and the pressing in the second half against a very well organised and resolute side. It was a great advert for football at this level. We are a quarter a way through the season, second in the table with games in hand. No criticism of the manager from me. More of the same please Jim.

Of course it would have been great to send everyone home after a win. But nobody would have gone home disappointed with the quality of the football on offer. It was a very entertaining game and hope they want more of it.

But there were c2950 on a Tuesday night last October for Dale v Halifax, of which Halifax brought 700. And our form has improved since then. The bus strike may have an impact - but surely we could be on for 3000.

To be fair, they are not the only club to offer standing room only for away fans - wasn't Truro the same? If they don't think the away fans count anymore (hello regulator) then the least they can be is transparent and make it very very clear that this is standing terrace only and is uncovered. Clubs generally aren't clear on this which is unfair on those that can't stand.

Will be interesting to see whether their rich new owners plan to invest in the facilities for the future. I suspect they can't justify when the away gates in National league are often sub 100.
