Hard to tell, they seem to have struggled to breakdownv defensive minded teams, but last night showed they can turn it on if opponents set up to attack. Hard to say if their starting 11 is better than last year, Newby a decent addition, Kitching for John? Jury out on that one. Sacked manager early on which doesn’t aide consistency. |

Through-ball from Levi after just 35 seconds was a peach, had Rodney scored it truly would have been a fast start. |

Watching York v Carlisle highlights and was as one sided as scoreline shows. Carlisle played 4 at the back, a high line and high press. Cut apart time and again, 4th goal was a beauty from back to front. They looked to struggle to clear set pieces a few times. Always had York and FG as the two to beat in this division, nothing to change that opinion yet for me. |

Carlisle will be hurting after tonight. Will be a tough game Saturday. York were hurting after Saturday but finally showed their potential tonight. Them v FG on Sat is tasty too. |

Not sure on him as not factored all season, so either injured or third fiddle. Edit: the man from del monte, he says ‘yes’ (he’s injured) [Post edited 23 Sep 23:05]

3rd major difference. 1st team not decimated by injuries. Last season everybody but Beckwith had sizeable time out injured. So far we’re doing ok, with only Pritch and Tuts out. |

Tough game, no Mani involved. Seem to have found a way to play away and get results - York win, Boston win, Carlisle draw (when winning) yet seem to stink at home. Probably down to away tactics, the good old low block/hit on break working for them but more expansive formation or tactics at home not delivering. One of ‘those’ games ahead. Not pretty to watch usually. |

Taken from Cameron Ogden’s summer update Work has commenced on a seasonal renovation of the surface of the pitch. I need to be clear with everyone that this is a surface renovation and not a complete rebuild. A complete rebuild is the only way we will solve the fundamental underlying issues we face. However, a rebuild is likely to cost close to £1.5m, and with the Club’s budget for next season (excluding any pitch works) already requiring additional funds of £2m, this additional expense is not something we can justify at this stage. We are aware, and I am afraid it is unavoidable, that not rebuilding the pitch carries the risk that we will face difficulties again in the winter. Our best chance of mitigating that risk is to avoid water entering the pitch in the first place. Last season, by the time we had purchased full-size rain covers, the pitch had already become waterlogged to the point where the covers made little difference. This season, we intend to have a strict regime in place to fully cover the pitch whenever there is material rainfall and to minimise the times before and after a game (and before and after rugby games) when it is uncovered in the wet. New lightweight rugby posts have been purchased, which will mean we can cover the pitch overnight between a Saturday and a Sunday when Rochdale Hornets are playing. The regime for keeping the pitch covered will require a huge effort from our ground staff, as removing water from the covers is not an easy task. To assist the Club in this endeavour, we will be looking to establish a pool of volunteers from Dale and Hornets fans who are willing to come to the Club at key times, pre- and post-games, to help out. More information on how to volunteer will be published in due course. |

Southend will be the first test from the big 5. Levi for Mani an obvious swap Berkoe for Taryn a possible second based on troubles passim v Scott Morris. This is where BJ’s game management coping with opposition tactics will really be needed, given the way we lost in the playoffs to Southend, i think it’s good we are playing them first up of the big guns. This game won’t define our season but it is a good opportunity to show we are true contenders this season. |

As much as Salt will take the plaudits, Buttler’s innings was sublime. He hit one six over mid off with what seemed like nothing more than a check drive. Shame these two and Wood and Mahmood (and Turner and Green) aren’t there for Lancs tomorrow, England’s gain is Lancs loss. |

Good interview and chat in general. They discussed the Scunny v Wealdstone situation and suggested a rule where say 80 minutes are gone, the result stands in such a situation to deter teams who may refuse to play falsely (not accusing Wealdstone of this at all) Problem with this is could work the other way, with a team 1-0 up doing the same and claiming the result. Mr Pettit came across v well speaking highly of Dale and generally re: football from a players perspective |

One side Some players were traumatised by seeing what had happened to their teammate. From a mental welfare perspective Wealdstone were correct in not sending them back out, they are held responsible for the players welfare, not a referee or league official who are unqualified to assess player mental state. The other side Wealdstone cynically used the injury to get the game abandoned when they were losing 2-1 with little time left on the clock. Their actions were not driven by player welfare. I think it will be very hard to prove ‘The other side’ without being in the Wealdstone dressing room at the time to be honest, no matter how many people suspect this was the case. |

What an innings by Livingstone today, unbelievable. Every time we looked like we were home and hosed, we lost a couple of wickets and pressure back on. Feared the worst when he got hit on head and lenghty delay. His response, first ball back hit for 6. He particulary targeted Parkinson and the 6 he hit over The Point is possibly the largest i’ve seen live. Towards the end when req run rate down to 5 per over he reigned it in slightly but was still devistating. Bowling did well, spin very good in the middle and Aspinwall closing it out beautifully. Good bowler that lad is. Finals day beckons with Lancs actually there. Get in. |
