Taken from Cameron Ogden’s summer update Work has commenced on a seasonal renovation of the surface of the pitch. I need to be clear with everyone that this is a surface renovation and not a complete rebuild. A complete rebuild is the only way we will solve the fundamental underlying issues we face. However, a rebuild is likely to cost close to £1.5m, and with the Club’s budget for next season (excluding any pitch works) already requiring additional funds of £2m, this additional expense is not something we can justify at this stage. We are aware, and I am afraid it is unavoidable, that not rebuilding the pitch carries the risk that we will face difficulties again in the winter. Our best chance of mitigating that risk is to avoid water entering the pitch in the first place. Last season, by the time we had purchased full-size rain covers, the pitch had already become waterlogged to the point where the covers made little difference. This season, we intend to have a strict regime in place to fully cover the pitch whenever there is material rainfall and to minimise the times before and after a game (and before and after rugby games) when it is uncovered in the wet. New lightweight rugby posts have been purchased, which will mean we can cover the pitch overnight between a Saturday and a Sunday when Rochdale Hornets are playing. The regime for keeping the pitch covered will require a huge effort from our ground staff, as removing water from the covers is not an easy task. To assist the Club in this endeavour, we will be looking to establish a pool of volunteers from Dale and Hornets fans who are willing to come to the Club at key times, pre- and post-games, to help out. More information on how to volunteer will be published in due course. |

Luke Wood gets a wicket with first ballv Windies today, full delivery at batsmans toes. Batsman reviewed out of shock, having watched him bowl short of a length every delivery for the last 2 years for Lancashire. |

Leicestershire fielding was worth 10 runs alone last night, whereas Lancs was worth about -5. Small margins in a tight game but certainly a factor. To be fair, their spin bowlers were awesome and far more threatening-this being the biggest factor. |

Southend got Southended. Congrats Oldham, looked dead on their feet until the second goal went in. |

Great to see middle order get us over the line. Hurst is not convincing at 3 at all and glove-work is so-so. Jones fantastic knock and Bosh great too. Green at the end - his last 2 balls went for 4&6 in the 20th over - so fab for him to get us over the line. Tough place to go so awesome result! Any win away should be rejoiced. |

Pace in first 6 overs is a nightmare at OT in the T20 so far. Thu Worcs were slow on the uptake and we blundered 70-0 Lancs likewise didn’t really cotton on and only bowled one (tight) over by Green in first six (59-1) Yesterday both teams much more switched onto this. Notts bowled 3 overs (14 runs) of spin and 3 pace (45 runs) Lancs had Green and Barnard on early, but in truth Aspinwall made biggest impact with his wickets early on Not sure why Wells decided to ignore all that had come before (including his crucial spell on Thu) and abandon bowling his spin to instead bowl an over of medium pace first up (18 runs) Good two wins, built on two great opening partnerships. Wells slogs to leg-side and Jennings scoop/ramps a-plenty. |

If i was at Man U, i would pine for the release list. Scott Mctominay - 1 year at Napoli, i doubt he would swap that for his whole time at OT Anthony - half a season gone. Same. |

20+ more points needed to be competitive at the top of the table. 5/6 vacancies (excluding loans) to work towards that. Will be interesting to see how many of these start the first game next season. |

Re: throw in threat. Unlike most teams in our division- we mostly use throw ins to return the ball to our CH’s. It was a complete surprise when we got a pen against Southend from a great run/throw in. |

Has anything been said/leaked/mentioned about actions towards the pitch this summer? We all know the underlying issue and all know that without the underlying cause being resolved, a pitch re-lay will not help, and the situation of this season (and previous) will be repeated once again. It may not be possible for £££ reasons as it will no doubt be super expensive . |

Sometimes i hate being right. That Fondu is being a right handful for the minutemen trying to mark him. |

Called it! Said when they beat us 4-0 that, come the playoffs, their over-confidence at the back could bite them on the bum. 1-0 Oldham - keeper rolled it out to defender, he got mugged, 1-0 . |

I think the team that finish second should go up and any nonsense such as playoff games still scheduled should be cancelled as of now. |

Slight aside, but i saw somewhere recently the commentary from Sean Dyche just before Crystal Palace scored the only goal in the FA Cup. Palace had a goal-kick with two CH’s on the corner of the 6 yard box and City pressing. Sound familiar? Sean: Teams need to have a second plan. It’s not fashionable but sometimes you just have to kick it up to the big man up front. Surround him with players looking for the first or second ball. 10 seconds later - back of the net. Long ball to Mateta. Always liked Sean Dyche |

Stay; Numerous reasons, stability, strong if frustrating season, good squad atmosphere, club at heart.Genuinely good chap. Go; Inability to adapt, specifically game management. Opposition high press, opposition low block, opposition long throw and most of all how to play when winning. We had a good core squad this year, wide use of the loan system. To go the next step needs another 30 points or so and without addressing the on the pitch shortcomings this year, that will not happen. |
