Still a very professional performance.
Once again the opposition were outclassed and literally had to throw care to the wind. We handled the pressure when it came. Only criticism for me was the timing of the Alakariah substitution which was far too late. He was clearly struggling to contain his opponent and being targeted. Berkoe should have been on at least 15 minutes before their goal.

I am sure everyone will be looking forward to the game tonight following the general disappointment and frustration of the inevitable postponement on Saturday of what is fast becoming known as the 'Crown Oil Swamp'.
Great weather over the past few days has meant that the pitch should have returned to the standard we expect which hopefully will allow us to perform at our best.
Following a change of manager Moors have become more resilient away from home and are unlikely to be set up to play an open expansive game. If as against York they opt to sit back, soak up the pressure (in their goalkeeper Walker I think they have one of the best shot stoppers in the league) and play on the break, its vital we hit the road running and as importantly make the most of our chances when they arise. Our run of form certainly makes us favourites, although it could be argued we could have put away more of the opportunities we have made when on top in previous games.
It would risky to be profligate today, so come on Dale, even without Mani, lets be ruthless and make it five in a row and prove to the league we are serious contenders. Even bigger challenges await around the corner lets face those in form.

Burgers body language and facial expression spoke volumes after he scored. He is obviously far from happy with his current situation within the squad and was only used today when Mancini was injured. Pettit looked to be trying to gee him up as they walked back to the centre circle after the goal. Always thought it would be tough for Jim to keep everyone happy. With Mancini injured again it might be an opportunity for Burger to re establish himself in the matchday squad ? I hope so.

Why would you think Amantchi wouldn't stay. Walsall clearly don't need him and we do. His chance is likely to come with more playing time this week particularly on Saturday in the absence of Mani.
I doubt very much that when he came he was expecting to be first choice. Hopefully he will prove his worth in the next few days because he really should be a threat at this level.

The mysterious leader of the new consortium is named as a JONNY CATO.
Give me strength !!
No known football connection or business connection as far as can be ascertained, except for an obscure Swedish politician who is highly unlikely to be the same Jonny Cato..
You just have to weep for the Morecambe fans who are in despair.

I think we will only need to note who is missing from the old guard tomorrow to know who may be on the way out.
Jim will not want to be using them if its likely they won't be available for the first match of the season.

With the number of players we have now this competition will at least provide much needed game time for those not playing regularly. Something we could have done without last season.

We did not do too badly with a loan keeper in the past who played 26 times for us eventually was sold for £25million and is now on the verge of playing in the Club World Cup Final for Chelsea.
If only Jim could conjure one up like that . We can only wish !!

Having watched quite a few Hartlepool videos recently its obvious that Mani is also going to be an asset when we are defending corners and free kicks. He seems to be able to get a defensive header in when needed. An added bonus bearing our vulnerability to the cross in the past.

Nick Haughton.

Name drop by a first time poster.
Having said that it would not surprise me to see us go for Haughton. Another lightweight unfortunately but very talented, a prolific goal scorer for a midfielder and an excellent free kick taker. Completely wasted at Fylde for the last two seasons, now 30 he should have moved on to better things when his star was in the ascendancy. We wait and see !!

No brainer for club to give Corey his first pro contract. He has progressed well this year and continied improvement from the 17 year old could see him become a valuable asset.

It will be interesting to see what Jim's team selection will be today. He might see it as an opportunity to save players for the playoffs and get some game time into the fringe players. Then again he might also feel its a chance to give a key player like Bird a chance to get more match time after injury. I hope he plays Kairo who desperately needs a chance to get his confidence back after his dismal performances of late. Whatever the team and even though there is nothing at stake position wise, I hope we get something from the game and continue our end of season roll.

Here we go again. Another game against piss poor opponents where we should be at least two up. Mitchell seems incapable of scoring the simplest of chances. Sit back and wait for the inevitable cock up (which both teams seem capable of) but we are most likely to make.
Until we start taking our chances draws and/or losses are inevitable. Come on dale find your shooting boots !!

What a total anti climax. No fire in the play whatsoever. We should be one down through our own negativity.

We did not start slow we started a 100 mile an hour as did they but we lost the mid field battle and have simply nothing up front to cause York a problem . Changes are needed and its time for Jim to earn his corn and find us some inspiration,

The injury toll is already building up and it would not surprise me if both Hogan and Waller were doubts for Saturday as they both appeared to be limping and carrying injuries at the end last night. The team will need all the support we can give over the next few weeks and we need to acknowledge that Jim will have to 'box and cox' the best he can with the players available. UPTD.
