Update - daughter said the 102 year old was 'really cool - she behaved like she was in her 20's!' The cadets had a whale of a time and spent ages chatting with the care home residents and eating cupcakes. Really proud of her. |

I think you've summed it up pretty well. There are plenty of head coaches / managers / whatever out there, ranging from bullshit-merchant chancers like Beale, to steady-Eddie types like Mowbray, right the way out to footballing idealists like Rohl. The buffet is open, fill your plate. But you make an excellent point. The choice of who succeeds Marti is down to a group of people, owners and executives, whose track record for appointments is something akin to grabbing a set of car keys from a bowl in a dimly lit suburban semi, surrounded by grim, sinister-looking couples. Sure, the keyring says 'Porsche' but you end up with...? Who the hell knows. We're not going to be short on options. That's not the problem: choosing the right one? Well, that is something that's going take some thought. |

My dad was a kid in London when the war started. He was evacuated to the country and hated it, so ran away back to London. Twice. The second time, they said 'sod it' and let him stay. So he had the blitz at night and watched various air battles from doorways during the day. He never really spoke about being scared but, to be fair, he was pretty close-lipped about the whole thing. Some things you don't talk about to your kids, I suppose. After the war, he fell for a German lass and they ended up emigrating to Canada. Her brother was a bomber pilot: so, when Dad was in the blitz looking up, he was in the blitz looking down. Go figure. Members of my Dad's family served. One, I remember, was a sergeant in one of the Airborne brigades. He is buried where he fell on Sicily. Neither me nor my family would've been here today if not for that generation. I cannot thank them enough. My daughter is an Army cadet and she is going to visit a 102 yr old former service woman tomorrow, for a ceremonial flag raising. The young haven't forgotten. |

I think it's high time we addressed the serious matter raised by this thread. With all the arguments back and forth, who said what to which AI chatbot, whether Bobby Z scored in 89 or whether we watched the moon landing on beam-back to Old Lofthouse Park Road, we have missed the bigger picture: I am in danger of losing my all-time record for downvotes in a single post. This will not do. If any of you has a shred of common decency, you will not let this injustice stand. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/290235/page:1 |

Seen Richie Wellens linked on London World (clickbait) and he's name-checked on Finney's podcast. I wouldn't be against it by any means but it's not one I can see happening, especially if he gets Orient promoted via the Play-Offs. |

It's hard to piss in the sink when the plughole's blocked with teabags. |

That pretty much sums up where I am with Madsen. I really want him to come good and we can all see the positives in him. It looks, to me at least, like he is making progress towards where we all want him to be. No-one would suggest he's the finished article: there are too many inconsistencies in his game and his overall influence to make that assertion. However, I can see why people rate his technical ability vision and creativity, based on his recent output. It isn't down to me but, if he starts next season the way he ended this one, I think we will keep him on. My question is this: how do we set up, if Madsen is a starter? I'm still unsure which role suits him best. |

Weirdly enough, the season we did have 3 players sharing out over 40 goals between them (Hugill, Wells and Eze) we conceded over 70. If a single stat sums up our luck over the last decade, that's probably it. |

Dom Ball was All-England U19 Connect4 champion. Very humble, never liked to talk about it. Went to the Worlds but was beaten in quarter finals by the Lower Slobovian champion, Pěnus Chafing. |
