It's how too many on the left think. It's not our money, so lets spend more of it. |

You'd think. Plus he's cheaper than LoB so that frees up funds for elsewhere. |

He was a fascinating guy. Almost a strict parent to his country. Took them from tropical backwater to economic powerhouse in one generation with a mix of full on Capitalist and some quasi-Socialist policies, but tolerated little dissent and mucking about in the process. |

Apparently the same idiot who made an arse out of himself in Egypt. A local boy apparently. Both a "peaceful person" and a "pacifist"... |

We have to cut. Welfare budgets, asylum costs, borrowing costs, public spending. We have to cut taxes on doing business and employing people. We have to encourage people to remain in the UK and pay tax instead of driving them away. |

The amount of people claiming some sort of sickness based benefit has quadrupled in the last five years or so. The system is clearly being abused, and even a fairly tame attempt to correct that was shouted down by Labour back benchers. We're in a mess. |

We seem to have reached the point where the Chancellor of the Exchequer is crying in the House of Commons. The poor quality of our elected representatives is becoming an existential threat to the Nation. |

Just saw them described as "When you buy Rage Against the Machine from Temu", which was amusing. |

"Swansea City have been unsuccessful with a €1m (£858,000, $1.18m) bid for Molenbeek’s Brazilian centre-back David Sousa. There was a small disagreement between the clubs over the player’s valuation and so the deal is not expected to advance." David Ornstein |

I guess the difference between Potter and Martin is that Potter was good enough at the other parts of coaching so the occasional hare brained lapse could be shaken off, whereas with Russy it appears to have been just another thing to tick off on his "Oooh! aren't I a progressive young manager! Give me a higher profile job!" list. There isn't a single season he's had as a manager where you could say that he's overachieved. Where his teams have done better than expected. It's almost always the opposite. Finishes of 19th and 13th with MK, 15th and 10th with us. Squeaked the playoffs with a Southampton squad and budget that should have been fighting for an auto promotion place. Embarassed himself in the Prem. No doubt he's hoping to have a couple of easy, successful years in Scotland to rehabilitate his reputation, a bit like Rodgers did when he first went to Celtic. His problem is that he's nowhere near as good a coach and will, in all likelihood, destroy what little is left of it. |

And he played well. I tend to think that the primary reason we're looking to move him on is salary and the fact that we could probably sign two players for the same price. Sheehan clearly thinks he can play otherwise he wouldn't have been one of his go-to guys during our strong run in. |

I don't think we should sniff at the 6 goals in 21 Prem games for a weak Sheff Utd side either. Probably equivalent to the season that Danny Graham had for us in 11/12. |

Even I would be surprised if Russy couldn't manage at least second in a two horse race. Taken on a tough job there though. Many of their fans already don't like him because of his time at Ibrox as a player. Won't take much for the rest of them to turn on him. |

The Battle of the Beanfield was nothing to do with Glastonbury. It wasn't even in the same county. |

Indeed. The sheer stupidity of the council in making it harder to get rid of recyclable material means that it has ended up in landfill. |

Be interesting to see if they are actually allowed to hold a festival in the future. As I understand it each iteration of "Glasto" has to be licenced by the local authority. Given the, let's call them "controversies" over the festival this year it's quite possible the Eavis family will be turned down next time. |
