Attendances
at 19:32 6 Oct 2025

In reality our attendances this season are actually a bit higher than they were at the start of 2010/11. Indeed, we played Leicester around the same time of the year and there was actually about 2,000 fewer there then than on Saturday.

Our hardcore support seems to have coalesced around the 14,000 mark, which to someone who first started going to The Vetch when a crowd of 4,000 was seen as a good one is still a huge leap for us as a club from those days.

In common with our cousins in the East, and those weirdos up North, we do have a large floating, or to be uncharitable "glory" support. Ours will start reappearing if we begin to challenge at the top end, Wrexham's will start disappearing when they hit a rut. That is unlikely to ever change.

For me the gaps in the family stand are the biggest concern.

Stamenic- is he another Fulton?

Is Stamenic another Fulton? Hopefully. We saw against Hull what having no Fultons does for us and it wasn't good. Having two can only help.

How is Alan Sheehan doing ?

I've not seen anything like enough in Parker so far to suggest that he's an answer to our problems. Needs a good loan spell somewhere to rack up 20-30 games.

It's a cracking article and really does lay bare all the problems that many of us had with him when he was here. It still beggars belief that he was so popular with a not insignificant section of our support even in the darkest days of Feb 2023, and still secretly remains so with some, even if few will admit it these days.

Just an arrogant, thin skinned, utterly incompetent, shirking bullshit artist.

Agree.

They were better in their movement and scored two goals that on another day might have ended up in the stands. I don't think we were "3-1" worse than them on the day and could have got something had we picked the right players.

Ntcham wasn't an AM in the same way that Paterson was. He was a box to box type. We could have accommodated both. Indeed they did play together quite a few times during the run in of the 22/23 season.

Plenty of people pointed out that Eom was one of our best players. You've decided that you hate him based on never having seen him play in the flesh so keep babbling about it like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman.

That's when you're pondering why people don't go to games from your position of never going to games.

It really is difficult at times to understand why you bother. You're clearly not much of a fan of the club, city or country. Why spend your twilight years posting nonsense on a forum of people who mostly think you're an idiot? Haven't you got better things to do on a Sunday afternoon?

People hide behind ambiguity. They like to pretend that they haven't committed to anything whilst hiding behind copouts like "he isn't the man to take us forward".

It's basically cowardice. Say what you think or keep quiet.

Are you seriously suggesting that anyone other than Sheehan is responsible for deciding substitutions?

Competent. Capable. So far not as hopeless as Williams or Martin, but not as good as Rodgers.

Could still go either way. I think he's capable of more but we need to start seeing it soon.

We had more possession and just as many shots on target. I don't think they had more control of the game. They made better use of the ball at times, but we weren't overwhelmed.

One thing that did stand out to me was their movement. When we had the ball we had to look for someone to pass to, which is why we were forced backwards so often. When they had the ball there was usually someone available, often more than one.

That's the question.

I was pleased that he was prepared to change his usual shape today, just disappointed in who he trusted to play in the new AM role. Hopefully he won't allow himself to be swayed by defeat and stick with it, just with more suitable personnel.

He wasn't as good as Vipotnik was today, but few forwards in the division are with the kind of form he's in. Again, it's going to be hard for him to build up any kind of consistency when he's largely restricted to sub appearances.

I don't think we went into the game expecting to lose. Sheehan picked a team he thought could get something and it's hard to legislate against two very good goals like that.

The drama queens will insist that we were outplayed but I don't think we were. Last ten minutes or so our heads went maybe, but otherwise we were right in the game until goal #3.

This is what's so frustrating about us at the moment. Despite, for me, having some real quality in the squad we seem perpetually stuck in second gear with performances good enough to beat some teams, but not enough to beat the best.

Problem we had is that of the three starting midfielders, only one of them had a good game.

Stamenic has his qualities but he's not the type to sit in front of a back four dictating play. He should be there to win the ball and pass it to someone who can. Cullen just isn't good enough and the reaction to him starting from some quarters was bafflingly positive.

Control the midfeld and you control the World. In the absence of Galbraith (and I've got no problem with him being rested) then Yalcouye must play as he's the only other one who can consistently carry the ball forward. Indeed, his ability to take it on the turn could have made a difference.

We were the better side for parts of that game, but ultimately our own lack of ambition and their flashes of quality made the difference.

Could have done without three of our best players in Eom, Franco and Vipotnik being taken off almost as if it had been prearranged rather than a reaction to what was actually going on on the pitch. Liam Cullen also demonstrated why he's drifted off to become a bit part player.

I am still fairly sure they we've got enough quality to be serious contenders at the top end of the table, but patience for the time it's taking us to show that consistently is wearing thin.

Eom's been one of our better players in that half. Frankly bonkers to claim otherwise.

Stamenic is the problem. He's no playmaker yet we're using him as one. Some Leicester players haven't passed the ball into our half as often as he has.

The argument that tickets are hard to get doesn't sit well with me. Certainly they're more easily available than they used to be when you had to go and see Moira. Within minutes I can buy them via an app on my phone.

I do think more could be done to make it easier for a walk up crowd. Automated ticket kiosks are certainly technically possible. Tap your card and get a printed ticket with a QR code that can be scanned at the turnstile.

I don't think the idea that the games aren't well publicised holds much either. Hardly anyone reads the Evening Post anymore and there's certainly no shortage of information about games, kick off times etc available online.

Ultimately our crowds are about the same as they were the last time we were early in a playoff chasing season and perhaps even a little higher. As we get towards the business end of the season if we're still in contention the part timers will start coming out of the woodwork again. It is what it is.
