Bit of a nightmare for the lad last night. Came on as an early sub for Scotland and attracting criticism for all three goals scored by Iceland at Hampden.
From what I can gather neither Oldham nor Southend have received their tickets yet. Apparently there is no tube service covering Wembley a week tomorrow so the authorities want to restrict each club to 17500 tickets due to anticipated travel difficulties although they may be allowed additional tickets if they can prove that the extra fans are travelling by coach and so won’t be using public transport. Sounds a right mess created by the NL, Wembley and Transport for London between them. Southend are claiming that they could have sold 30000 tickets.
Great pace bowler who was an integral component of the great Lancashire team of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Deserved his test call up. One of the longest run ups to the wicket that I’ve ever seen though! Nice bloke away from the cricket as well. He was a neighbour of ours in Shawclough for a few years and used to enjoy a pint in the Healey Hotel.
Does anyone know if, should the teams be level after 90 minutes, the tie goes straight to penalties or would the teams play 30 minutes extra time? Just trying to assess travel options.
Given that there is a choice of sitting down the side of the pitch or standing behind the goal on Wednesday night where are people planning to watch the game from?
Altrincham and Hartlepool both winning at the moment so Dale are down to ninth as it stands. A minimum of three games in hand on other teams though and Hartlepool will have played five more. Halifax also in action - drawing at Southend.
Half a dozen NL games just kicked off. If Yeovil win at Ebbsfleet they’ll leapfrog Dale into the last playoff place? Interesting game at FGR who entertain Barnet.
