 | News Comment | Ivan Juric Positioning Himself To Continue In Southampton Job at 15:36:16
Since Koeman, that's 10 years ago, the owners have just failed their duties and responsibilities and chosen managers incapable of long term consistency: get rid of the ownership and Juric now! We can't recover as a club until we have owners fully committed behind our club and that makes for a terrible time supporting the club. Even though the fanbase is still solid now if this carries on for a few years the fans will drift away. |
 | News Comment | Kamari Doyle The Southampton Starlet Who Found The Grass Not To Be Greener At Brighton at 11:45:42
Keep saying it, but reduce the number of match day squad and substitutes and re-introduced a reserve league thus helping players reach a step closer to first team football; injured or unfit, or out of favour, players recuperate or readjust. If they can't perform at that level, it's clearer that they're not going to perform at first team level. Excessive money of course means logic, common sense or fairness are ignored and not often applied. Anything to help the smaller clubs is dismissed. A big reason that Saints could compete in the 70's, 80's was having a reserve team to bring the players like Mills, Holmes, Williams, Waldron, Shearer, Dodd, Moran, the Wallace brothers and Le Tissier through. Those were the days! |
 | News Comment | Gavin Bazunu To Go Out On Loan To Regain Match Fitness at 09:46:41
Bazunu was a poor keeper and was pretty much guaranteed to make an error or two in any game where the opposition had concentrated pressure on his goal. He was not good enough, in reality, for either The Championship or The Premier and unless there are miraculous improvements, I can't see that changing. In the previous Championship campaign teams were rarely good enough to be that much of a threat in front of goal. Ramsdale sets the bench mark (even though he hasn't been very good lately) and Bazunu is nowhere near that. He may be a decent young man, and I genuinely wish him all the best, but if blunt honesty and being a stalwart Saints fan excludes niceties; I agree with former commenter, Bazunu is one of the worst keepers I've seen at Saints in 50 years. |
 | News Comment | Sulemana To Stay At Southampton ! Amo-Ameyaw To Go Out On Loan at 10:02:20
Sulemana plays on the left and Sam plays on the right - there's no competition here. Agreed that Sam should have been given/ should have more opportunities. I'd keep him and play him more regularly but a loan until the end of the season would be OK . Juric does seem to play too lopsidedly without a serious threat down the righthand side. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict at 09:50:00
Juric seems to have made a lot of positional and tactical changes in a short amount of time and against Swansea, at least, it seemed to be working. Let's just hope it does against much better Prem teams - starting with Utd on Thursday! |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Crystal Palace The Preview at 13:07:13
Keep getting the crosses in and Archer and Onuachu should deliver a few goals. Big Les Ugochukwu in the middle and Lallana to complement. There we've got a good foundation. Might as well hope for the best, win a few games and build for next year. |
 | News Comment | Bella-Kotchap Speaks About Southampton Future at 11:44:20
I thought, and was told 'online', that Armel had a heart condition and that's why he was rejected by Hoffenheim (after a medical). If that's the case, maybe that's why he wasn't picked or attracted any transfer attention. Strange that Nick, or anyone else, doesn't mention this. Does he have a health problem or not? |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict at 11:43:57
Moyes would at least make us harder to beat, stop mucking about at the back, select round pegs for round holes, get us a few positive results and bring a bit of cheer back to the club. With the backing of SR and him deciding who comes and goes, would make us a side more capable of getting out of the Championship and getting back with a side capable of competing. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict at 11:31:52
OK Archer as well but without anybody crossing the ball with any frequency any forward, that manages to reach the oppo penalty area, is unlikely to score. We have to rely on rare breaks or defenders scoring from set pieces. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict at 11:25:55
"Many of us shouted loudly for a proven goal scorer during the summer break and we ended up with Stewart!" That was 2 years ago; we got Diaz and Cornett this summer. Is there any wonder we're not scoring goals, along with Martin's genius possession style of play? |
