Last night sums it up really, some parts were like a dog chasing a balloon, others where it seems they were obliged to give the ball to the opponents under some weird unwritten rule. The penalty shootout was classic England though, even if hugely unprofessional. It is a bit like watching Dr Pimple Popper, you can’t not can you. Still out! |

Only a friendly, and fairly short 'highlights' (low lights more like) but we looked fairly useless against, seemingly, an even poorer team, and, worryingly, played ye olde Martin's catastrophic tippy-tappy at the back. I do hope we give up that notion when it comes to the serious competition. Stroll on! [Post edited 18 Jul 22:36]

Don't get excited - I'm talking about my migration. There is a big difference between my personal migration and 'immigration' in general. I think. Discuss. Up The Saints!! |

What a bunch of gullible punts some of the British public are. Can't wait for the Farage prime ministership. Desperately seeking migration now. |
 | Forum Reply | Saints Award Jack Stephens A 3 Year Contract. at 13:21 10 Jul 2025
When Jack plays centre-half, he usually has a pretty good game and yes prone to the odd error which centre half isn't? But anywhere else he's clearly out of his depth. Martin played him out of his depth - what a manager! Jack's been a good captain and representative (with a couple of stupid errors). In the Championship Jack's still a good captain and centre-half back up but three years is SR stupidity yet again. Jack as a footballer , for an 'ambitious team' seriously committed to forming a squad capable of holding its own in the Prem, really doesn't fit the bill. We have enough capable centre halves. Overall, I agree with Pat and say two years tops is reasonable. But there again I guess he'll be doing a Lallana for that third year. [Post edited 10 Jul 13:31]

 | Forum Reply | Damion Downs agreed !!!! at 19:56 6 Jul 2025
Yikes! I saw his YouTube reel of 'Skills and Goals' and had to stop before it finished because the 5 yards passes and tap ins were getting so monotonous and disappointing, to say the least. I don't think I've seen such a poor YouTube reel supposedly promoting a player! I hate to think what he's actually like on the pitch for a full 90. I could be totally deceived of course. Something to do with AI or simply general bullcrap. As an upside (down) we'll know whether Spors is useless or not if Downs actually plays for us without being carted away to Goztepe. Flynn Downs as well - Let's hope we're not building a team of downers! LOL [Post edited 6 Jul 20:06]

 | Forum Thread | FIFA to Replace Football With Football-Diving Next Year at 16:04 8 Jun 2025
They might as well after watching The French diving athletes defeat the chronic tippy-tappy German divers. Even Saints would have given that Germany team a decent battle although we would have had 5 penalties awarded against us. |

I really don't think our central defenders are that terrible. They've had a ton of nonsense to deal with and that simply hasn't been possible to deal with in the Prem because they've so easily been torn and picked apart. We're been let down by poor tactics, poor formations, a poor midfield that couldn't hold a banana and fundamentally rotten recruitment. Once our left and right backs can defend (preferably new left and right backs) and we get the aforementioned failings correct then we'll start challenging all-comers. I'm hoping Still will be ruthless and sweep out all the dead wood and rebuilt his team which will probably take more than one season. And that will suit me fine. If we can build a team capable of challenging in the Premier in two years - that's what we should be aiming for. If Still manages in a season that'll be a near miracle. Talk of has been like McCathry, Bazunu, Forster and Ings is so unambitious and retrograde. We can do much better. Watching highlights from 1980 - 1982 seasons, we're clearly light years from that excellence. It would be fantastic to return to that that of football. One can but dream. [Post edited 1 Jun 12:21]

 | Forum Thread | Clear Penalty Ignored by Ref and Pundits Shows Clear Bias and Cheating Yet Again at 11:42 26 May 2025
Less unbelievable and more accepted normality now. The 'lesser' team, Saints, didn't matter just brush off a clear penalty to Saints. 'None of us saw it, or thought for one instance, it was a penalty'; pundits ignore it and there's no question of using VAR. Good riddance to the Cheating Premier con and its sycophants. Good to get back to some proper, more honest football ( he hopes!). [Post edited 26 May 11:44]

I'm hoping he'll be moved on this summer, hopefully to Leicester, but since we're a mediocre team, Will fits that description perfectly and hence he'll be retained no doubt. |

Perhaps Sulemana can learn how to finish and the team can learn how to support him. |
 | Forum Reply | Congratulations to Sunderland at 11:18 25 May 2025
Yes, good luck to Sunderland! Can't see any of the promoted teams getting more than 15 points next season. Spurs finished 17th and are 13 points, at least, ahead of the next team, Leicester. Next season will be worse for the promoted clubs. Eventually, surely they'll have to be changes because the established Premier League teams are getting too far ahead. The uncompetitive aspect will become untenable - although that hasn't changed in the Scottish Prem where the situation is just accepted probably because a Premiership couldn't work in any other way. Money talks and fairness, genuine opportunity and competition, and creativity, have all been neatly swept under the carpet. Much like society today. |
 | Forum Reply | Thoughts on a summer of change? at 11:04 25 May 2025
Agree. If we retain this lot, and probably add mediocrity, we won't be challenging for anything next season. Pick out the 'better' players from that lot ( and even then there are doubts): Wellington, Edwards, Charles, Downes, Stewart and possibly one from Goztepe. They're good enough at Championship level but not very experienced. If they're retained, players like Aribo, Stephens, Edozie, Armstrong and Bree are capable at that level but nothing outstanding. The good news is the hopefully we'd have enough to stay up but I can't see that's guaranteed with an average defence, midfield and strike force. Second bit of good news : I think Will Still can steer them away from relegation; he's got a good defensive record and seems adaptable. |

Well , I went for a walk , saw some local cricket, watched Hants thrash Warwicks, had a pint and helped a disabled guy on the street button up his shirt for church. That's better! I will not be watching Saints v Arsenal - hopefully the damn trains will be running. |
 | Forum Reply | Everton Game Matchday Thread at 13:10 18 May 2025
I was going for a walk today but predictably the trains weren't running so decided to watch the shiteball. Watching without sound really does put a real perspective on the game. Martin really left a terrible legacy for Saints team: sidewards and backwards until we're tackled, the oppo break and score plus we've got as much bite as a dead goldfish up front. Everton really aren't much better. Appalling watching. I'll have to go for a long walk after this perpetual disaster just to get some real perspective. |
 | Forum Thread | Saints set the blue print for Palace victory but with better forwards at 19:06 17 May 2025
Defend for your life and break when you get the chance. And they did but Saints didn't have players like Munoz and Eze to nick the odd chance unfortunately. City tried to rectify the previous performance with two wingers but Palace, and Henderson in particular, held firm. Palace are also a blueprint for Saints, however, the levels of quality are quite a distance apart. They do have a great coach. Congratulations Palace. [Post edited 17 May 19:08]
