 | Forum Thread | Criticising Sports Republic on 'The Saints Network' - Censorship on Fans at 16:08 19 Mar 2025
Simply put: they deserve criticising because they're mostly useless and incompetent. If most of the fans had cocked-up in their jobs, the way SR has cocked-up, they would be sacked with no compensation. On Sunday a mate of mine was criticising SR with just a simple comment, 'SR out' on 'The Saints Network' YouTube channel chat and they were timed out of making any further comments throughout the rest of the show. They'd seen that the rugby loving presenter had tried to defend SR in the previous episode or two of the brand new show. So the timing-out of criticism does seem fishy and one wonders whether the show is not bought and paid for in some or most respects by SR. Why the heck can't fans criticise SR - it's perfectly legitimate because they really are incompetent (it can't be denied; look at our run of poor managers, players bought, loaned and released and league position alone) and they're running down Southampton FC. Sports Republic have to prove to the fans that they are competent. Dragan has made some important changes and this implies that he knew SR were performing poorly. So even he's recognised that the Club couldn't go on as it was but are these changes enough - I don't think so. With the exception of Dragan the rest of the ownership needs replacing now, before next season. It's incredibly embarrassing for true supporters when the pundits on MOTD don't even mention us any more when they analyse a game involving Saints because the team simply are too embarrassing to bother making comment about and have no value in making any positive comment. Aribo said as much during the week. Some of us do still believe in maintaining dignity and pride with and through our football club. [Post edited 19 Mar 16:12]

1. Middle class duckheads who pretend they know everything and that they're right when they've barely played competitive football in their life. 2. Middle class YouTube pundits who go with what they think is the majority view; what they think is middle ground; point out the bleeding obvious and love rugby more than football. 3. Pundits Media wide who daren't offend the club because they believe they're important and might benefit from being nice to the owners, management and players. |

Two at right-back, that's interesting. What's the betting that'll be calamitous on one or more occasions? |

Well, if FIFA can be overtly corrupt, as law suits prove, so can the Premier League or any other authorities. Let's face it the UK is riddled with corruption, as are many other authorities, institutions or organisations you care to mention. At least in sport they should make a concerted effort not to be biased. But they clearly are when a 'big' team plays a 'no hoper' in the PFL. The statistics are even there to prove it and still they pontificate as if nothing's wrong just like our corrupt politicians hammering the populace into the dirt, for their personal gain. Time we all woke up but that won't happen either. [Post edited 8 Mar 18:21]

Second Liverpool penalty. Time for a cup of tea and sandwich. |

Apparently it's a brilliant work ethic when Liverpool foul. I think the ref's forgotten that he can give decisions against Liverpool. Here come the crap substitutions. [Post edited 8 Mar 16:48]

Never looked like a penalty though. Touched his heel, if that. [Post edited 8 Mar 16:21]

Not exactly unknown for us to play half a decent game.I am nonetheless expecting a total collapse in the second half. Probably 2 goals in 2 minutes to destroy all hope. How well is Manning playing in a regular left back position. Not sure any of our wonderful managers actually played him in a regular left back position. Pray to the Big One that Juric doesn't decide to change anything up!! |

What formations that: 4-6-0, 4-5-1, 4'-4-2 ? At least it's nice to see a basic 4 at the back. Smallbone mercies. |

Unfortunately the management, whoever it is actually makes the critical decisions, is fairly useless at doing them effectively or the order of ranking is wrong (this might change with a new 'sporting director' but I'll believe it when they start producing results). Joe Tessem was comparing us to Bournemouth and Brighton and, from his perspective, the lines of decision making were too complicated and thus, inept. Think of all the players that could/should have done well fairly recently if given sensible development and play time: Danso. Meghoma, Tella, Alcarez and, presently, I suspect Amo-Ameyaw, ABK, Gronbaek, Edwards and even Archer. I'm only surprised they haven't dropped Wellington yet. Juric did drop Ugochukwu whatever excuses he gave. Sulemana is the exception but maybe it's only a matter of time. Juric messes around with the positions continuously after having enough time to bed in and suicidally takes off our better players during the matches. They even appear to be mismanaging Tyler Dibbling. To build a decent team we have develop the talent effectively but we just haven't been doing it. The emphasis to sell-off anybody that can kick or pass a ball 5 yards, or shoot on goal, in the right direction has to be a major factor in our all-round failings. Crappy days! Zero in 45 minutes. I know I shouldn't be so cynical but I believe they call it a 'false dawn'. Much like our promotion. |

"That's why McCarthy will always be here." That wins the most doom laden comment of yesterday for me. If I see shite, I like to call shite but actually Macca had a good game yesterday. And boy have Saints fans got short memories, it was only last week Saints had a spirited win away to Ipswich. If we beat Bournemouth Juric will be given the key to the City LOL! It was dis-spiriting yesterday but remember Burnley have one of the best defensive records in the football league and are a decent team. We just didn't quite have the class to finish them off although we easily could have done. The worrying thing for me was Juric's team selection with one centre half, two on the bench, Manning left wing half and Aribo filling in occasionally at centre back. Weird, worrying and wrong. It was clear he was asking for trouble with a team that are no mugs. Sulemana and Wellington were the only ones that showed any promise or gave me any hope. Let's just hope Juric can forget his stupid experiment and return to some common sense against Bournemouth, otherwise we're going to get slaughtered. And that would be very embarassing despite Bournemouth being a miles better team. [Post edited 9 Feb 10:22]

To me Juric played Bednarek centre back with Aribo falling back to cover and Bree and Manning occasionally tucking in to cover from the left. Bree as centre-right and Wellington as left back. But Manning also played left wing back and was the only play two get two shots on target albeit that these were feeble. Confused! I was but I think the players were as well. Hopefully the abysmal defensive strategy and selection will at least give Juric time to wobble his head sufficiently to get it right for Bournemouth next Saturday. Apart from the defence; I just couldn't understand why he didn't have two wingers (Sulemana and Dibling) with Big Paul in the middle. And the subs were put on too late to make any difference. We were unlucky and they were very lucky in some respects. A bad day at the office but we only have ourselves to blame. [Post edited 8 Feb 17:55]
