We've got two Dev players in that position who look decent though. 🤞

Reading said that's what he does, he loves a yellow.

The counter is that he's a character and fans get behind that. As do the players. We need leaders.

Big, bold, enthusiastic, strong

Clumsy, impulsive

Premier league? No chance

Championship? 👊

CONTRARY to FIRM BELIEF

Do you know what Madsen needs?

No posts on him for a few weeks.

We're all analysing him in detail (me included) and all looking to score points against those who disagree with us.

Let's give him ten games and then re-evaluate

For clarity....

I'm not saying he's quick
I'm not saying he's fast

I'm saying he's got decent pace, unlike some of the sloths we've had over the past few years.

Well, back to a mates house who came with us.

Delighted we won that, desperately needed a win.

Kone, we've got ourselves a proper striker. Puts himself about, takes his chances and has a decent amount of pace.

Defence looks a lot better today. Mbengue looks a quality signing. Love him already.

Midfield
Vale pressed well but lacks a bit of pace.
Madsden did ok today on the second half
Varane didn't really do much, not sure what the bust up with Morrison on the first half was all about by Walsh had to get in between them

Dembele frustrates. Needs to learn from the little 🇯🇵⭐

Burrell caused then problems with his pace.

Walsh, please please please can we give him then next few games off. Confidence is shot and fans turning on him how. Totally at fault for the goal, distribution poor and dropped a couple too

Now.... Where do I start.....

Saito, everything you want from a player.
Energy, commitment, flair. Brilliant display and lifted the crowd and the team.

Charlton were poor though. We got a bit lucky in places and need to move the ball with pace...but happy with them win

Bit old school but we would rip them apart with two up top.

This praising Madsden, are you here or watching it on TV? I just wonder if it looks different at home rather than looking at the entire game and positioning. That's not me being smart either 👍

Dembele trying but not much coming off for him. Frustrating to watch.

Needs to get his head down and run at players.

Varane playing the anchor role. But we are bypassing him.

I've been watching Madsden and Vale closely.

Vale hasn't got much pace but is closing down well.

Madsden doesn't seem to want the ball. He's not creating much. I'm not actually sure what his role is.

Observations

We move the ball so slowly
Walsh is nervous and his distribution is poor
Mbengue is a class act
Vale looks slow
Madsen anonymous
Kone looks good

Overall very bland

Standard of the tackling was woeful. Made him look like Adel in places!!

Anyone else think Chair may be off?

Why did I get a thumbs down???

Nardi or Walsh for Charlton Game
at 07:12 28 Aug 2025

I disagree with Brian (we both have keeper pedigree so mutual respect for him)

For a bottom half team, Nardi is more than good enough. Great shot stopper, decent with his feet and distribution is average.

Does he win us points, yes.

Fantastic keepers own their boxes and none of our lads do this. But Nardi is the best we have and good enough.

Cooper looks like a good shot stopper but from what I've seen he'd quite small and doesn't claim much in the air.

Walsh, said this a million times, needed to be the one on loan this season. Scandalous that he's been thrown in at the deep end after a couple of meaningless games when he did play.

He's 2/3 years off challenging for the first team imo. Dieng didn't really get going until he was 25. Played a lot of football before he got his chance.

Out of curiosity, how would you rank the last 10 keepers we had?

2024-2025: Paul Nardi (based on current season data)
2023-2024: Asmir Begović
2022-2023: Seny Dieng
2021-2022: Seny Dieng
2020-2021: Seny Dieng
2019-2020: Joe Lumley and Liam Kelly (shared the role)
2018-2019: Joe Lumley
2017-2018: Alex Smithies
2016-2017: Alex Smithies
2015-2016: Rob Green and Alex Smithies (shared the role)
2014-2015: Rob Green
2013-2014: Rob Green
2012-2013: Júlio César and Rob Green (shared the role)
2011-2012: Paddy Kenny
2010-2011: Paddy Kenny
2009-2010: Radek Černý
2008-2009: Radek Černý
2007-2008: Lee Camp and Radek Černý (shared the role)
2006-2007: Lee Camp
2005-2006: Paul Jones and Simon Royce (shared the role)
