Should the UK adopt the Greek policy on immigrants?
at 21:19 31 Jul 2025

The Greeks are trying to deal with the issue at source by looking at Libya and Egypt where many of the people are coming from. It’s a world wide problem that as populations grow and wars displace masses of people is likely to get worse. The Greek minister talked sensibly about protecting Greece but also about having compassion for desperate people. Farage and his ilk are spewing bile which is feeding the worst in people. My own take is you have to deal with the source of the problem. Wars in Sudan, Iraq and Afghanistan and Libya have caused massive population displacement.

One other note. Channel crossings are minuscule. Legal immigration to the UK in two years 2023 and 2024 1.5 million people.

Good man - poor leader vs bad man - allegedly good leader

No one knows what Starmer actually stands for. Including Starmer himself. He has shown himself to be a vindictive conniving liar who has betrayed Labours values. The party is now dominated by Starmer and his cronies. Any dissent is dealt with as lifelong supporters have been thrown out of the party. I know people who have spent their lives working for the party who are no longer welcome.

In the early 2000s people protesting against the Iraq war were charged under terrorism laws for breaking into military bases. The defence argued it was an act of conscience and the charges were infringing on their human rights. The lawyer defending them was Human rights lawyer Kier Starmer. Now he is at the forefront of ensuring over 200 people being arrested for waving flags or holding placards.

Starmer will destroy the Labour Party. He is a conniving back stabbing liar who along with Cooper and Streeting and the rest will lead the party to disaster at the next election.

England women winning was great. I enjoyed watching a couple of games. Does it really merit 2 days of blanket media coverage though. God help us if the men win something. It will go on for weeks.

Criticising Zionism and Anti Semitism are different things. We are witnessing an attempt by a state to ethnically cleanse a people.

Starmer and Yvette Cooper seem more concerned about what bands say at musical festivals and arresting people for holding placards than acting to stop a genocide unfolding before our very eyes.

The images of children being deliberately starved to death are truly shocking. The fact that our Govt does nothing to stop it and actively supports the perpetrators shames us all.

England's Semi Final

England women keep fighting and never give up (Shame you can’t say the same about Saints last season). The penalties have been terrible and the Henry or Cantona like pose after scoring off a lucky rebound was ill judged. From what I’ve seen Spain are a totally different proposition. I’ve enjoyed it but have no interest in the club game but anything that gets kids away from phones and computers and kicking a ball about gets my support.

The screaming commentary needs to stop though. Vicky Sparks is like listening to someone scrape their nails on a blackboard.

It was terrible. Criticise it for being terrible absolutely but people seem to have a problem with women’s football in general and find any excuse to put it down. Also comparing it to the men’s game. It’s completely different as is non league football compared to the Premier league. My main point is the women’s game is refreshing in the absence of the constant cheating we see in the Premier League. It has a degree of honesty that the overpaid whining shite houses in the men’s game should learn from.

For all its faults it was far more entertaining that watching Saints in the last 18 months. I actually saw a few forward passes and a few crosses into the box.

I seem to recall England men’s team losing penalty shoot outs all the time. Beckham Waddle Southgate and loads of others bottled it. At least the women have actually won something.

You said England never look like scoring. They have scored 2.

The game is a bit frantic at times but it’s a lot more exciting than watching Saints last season. At least they get the ball forward and into the box. The other positive is the absence of shithousery. No pulling hair (note Jack) or feigning injuries to waste time. I haven’t watched much of this tournament but have enjoyed the game tonight. It’s a honest game of football without the over paid cheating divas in the Premier League. Looking like going to penalties.

The pundit at half time is terrible. Like Vicky Pollard on speed.

Shows what you know. Second half has been end to end stuff. Nothing like rusty ball.

2-2 now.

Would you support a wealth tax?

Stop spending vasts amounts of money on armed forces. We are no longer a super power with an ability to police or fund wars around the world. We need to get the UK working again and invest here to provide proper jobs and get the welfare bill down.

It’s not hugely costly but reduce the number of MPs get rid of the Lords and cut the civil list right down. And tax absent landlords. And anyone doing business here needs to pay tax.

No problem. We can replace him with a promising 18 year old from another teams academy. Although it says he has been linked so may not be true.

How do you get productivity improvements in the NHS ? It cares for sick people. The UK has an aging population and there have been massive advances in medicine and treatment options available. Its future looks increasingly challenging as people live longer . You are just spouting nonsense management talk. Sick people are not products. The basic premise is if you want free healthcare then the Govt will have to fund it through tax increases. Unless you support Farage who has made it quite clear what he thinks of the NHS.

Yes thought Ezra Collective were great. Enjoying Neil Young but I’m a fan from way back.

Labour through the idiot Culture Secretary have complained about Bob Vylan and Kneecap and now the police are investigating comments made on the stage. It beggars belief. At least they can relax tomorrow we have Rod Stewart who’s a Farage fan.
