Wouldn’t be the first time, from memory, the last time we started a season in League 1 we did so with a points deduction which is why it took us two seasons to get back up to the Championship. Got a feeling it was for going into administration which led to a points deduction whilst the dodgy Sk8’s down the road were committing far worse in terms of financial improprieties and getting away with it because they were In the PL boys club. All a bit hazy now so I stand to be corrected if ai am wrong.
It's just cost Ekitike two weeks wages after his little display of shirt twirling against us on Tuesday evening at Anfield. I said to a Palace supporting friend of mine the next day that we had done them a right favour for the game earlier today by getting Liverpool's top scorer suspended for the visit to Selhurst Park as indeed proved to be the case. I'd excuse Aguero on the final day v QPR when he scored the goal that won the PL in the 95th minute but on a normal match day like Tuesday or the Brighton and Bournemouth players today, what's the point...
Apparently, according to our CEO Phil Parsons, the fountain of knowledge on all things football related, obviously accumulated whilst working for Dyson, [the ideal place to work to gain the necessary specialist knowledge needed to successfully run a PL club] we cannot compete in the PL even if we got promoted.
It's not as if we have not had the money, the difference is, whilst others invest wisely, we p1ss a fair percentage of it up the wall, Downs being the latest example.
Conclusion: Sport Republic, fc uk off out of our Club, and take the hoover man Parsons with you. ASAP please.
On a positive note, a much improved performance this afternoon
Always remember a quote from ex-Luton & Spurs boss David Pleat He said When the fans chant sack the manager the board sit on their hands but When the fans chant sack the board, they sack the manager.
So, you are watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and a new contestant comes on. The very easy £100 question is up first and there is one right answer and three ridiculous wrong answers. If what is Damion Downs was the £100 question, a professional footballer who plays as a forward would be one of the three ridiculous wrong answers. From what we have seen.
Agreed, Downs makes Mara look like prime Drogba whereas Downs himself is about as much use as a Dog bra.
In answer to the original question, I think it was a proactive substitution, so when the Liverpool player got sent off it meant we were effectively playing 10-a-side for the remainder of the game. Might as well have been for the use the waste of space Downs was for our cause.
Agreed we have terrible owners - if we got all the village idiots from every village in the UK and brought them all to live in Southampton, SR would still be the village idiots…
Whilst Still was the cheaper option to the more expensive Rohl, how much will Still end up costing us when he gets sacked in a few weeks time? (or a few months time knowing the SR drongos). Could easily become a false economy that ends up not just costing us money but also any chance of promotion.
I would think it was more likely to be either a Spors inspired signing or someone unearthed by the Gimberts in the recruitment department responsible for bringing the likes of Orisic, Lyanco, ect , ect, to our door.
Yet again, instead of doing the right thing for today by signing a proven forward who can actually score goals in this division, thanks to the SR muppets we get another ‘promising’ player for the future. In his case, I’d venture to suggest the promising aspect where Downs is concerned is promising to do better the next time he gets minutes on the pitch… Piroe, no longer guaranteed minutes with Leeds in the PL, would have been similar money and delivered 20 goals this season, something Downs will never be capable of doing.
