Remember quite a few people applauding Rotherham's goal when we beat them 5-1 under Holloway - cracking strike, odd reaction to a goal that brought it back to 1-1 but they were so awful otherwise felt like the overriding feeling for everyone was we'd go onto win regardless
The knock on effect of one agent muscling out another - Nuno represented by Jorge Mendes, has had Edu (represented by our old friend Kia Joorabchin) parachuted above him.
Subs swung the game back in our favour but we're not going to win many games if the players aren't fit enough to compete for longer than 30 minutes. That last 15 minutes of the first half the entire team were visibly blowing - slower to the ball every time, giving away silly freekicks from tired tackles, trying to buy cheap free kicks the ref wasn't having to get a breather.
Walsh took some real over the top stick second half - chants of "we want our goalie back" & Nardi's name being sung - especially when he failed to release the ball quickly, ignoring the fact no one was in a state to get forward until Burrell came on.
Nevertheless plenty of postitives - Kone looks a proper number 9, JS was proactive with his subs, Morrison after a slightly shaky start to his season looked back to normal. Mbengue good game too & seems a great character getting the whole team involved in the post match celebrations
Just listened to latest QPR pod - Finney, Ian Randall & Dottie Rees dad chatting frankly about their experiences with cancer along with Andy Sinton. A really powerful listen - thanks to all three for sharing their stories
This is one of the most confusing things for me - Hoos when he got here basically hung his hat on "Ask me & I'll give you an answer - it might not be an answer you like or agree with but it's an answer", increased fan engagement all round, hot on the details/no problem too small to raise, etc
How has he gone from that - to advocating for this?
Before you even get into the past week so far this season at Nourry's Q&A there was talk of a supporters consultation committee &, separately, inviting 100 random season ticket holders to discuss any issues directly with Nourry - have those been happening? Look down the school end - second season in a row away fans have suddenly begun appearing in the lower tier again, last season was a ticketing fck up apparently, same again this time?
Did anyone else notice midway through the second half Saturday Dunne handed over the captain's armband to Chair - bizarre as he'd been on the pitch for about 20 mins at this point & Jimmy wasn't then subbed
Wasn't that more to do with it being during covid and it technically counted as breaching whatever the rules were at the time - don't think they were too fussed about him coming to see us more that he hadn't followed correct protocols at the time to do so
Do ref's still watch teams previous few games prior to referreeing them? I believe guidance changed a couple of years ago so that was encouraged.
Feels like that might have come into play here - last couple of games Saito been on end of some thrown elbows & roughing up tactics, ref sees something happen here and makes a judgement both on this & what's come before.
Earlier in the window I found WLS tone on articles about Dunne a little off - "Rangers were able to keep him last summer by taking up an option to extend his contract by a year."
Doesn't make it sound like there was much desire his side to renew then, at least on the terms we'd have valued him at after the latter half of last season.
Was really noticeable how little we engaged with the ref yesterday - all through our good run the senior players (Field, Frey, Dunne especially) have been noticeably more vocal and forceful when we felt a decision hadn't gone our way, not letting the other team take the piss, etc. For whatever reason yesterday was the first time in a good while that wasn't happening - and we suffered as a result.
On the FK/GK moment - I think he mistakenly thought that Chair had taken our free kick rather than Paal - so when it bounced off the post and straight to Chair he then awarded a free kick as taker can't touch it twice, and carried on with that till someone pointed it out. Bizarre sequence all round really.
"The outlet understands that Vignal has been seen at Loftus Road – during QPR’s goalless home draw against Sunderland – exchanging with members of the board."
Clearly Vignal's not done his research if he thinks he'll meet any of our board members at a game
