What's your favorite passive aggressive move?
at 08:52 24 Sep 2025

There is a management technique called "the 5 whys?". Basically if you come up against a problem you asked why, when you get the answer you asked why ect. So if someone says you can't do this because....ask why. That will say something like it's against policy, so again ask why.

Do this five times and you will either get the the core of the problem, or end up someone saying I don't know. Either way it's a brilliant way to wind the other fcuker up.

Sheffield wednesday next home game.
at 08:43 18 Sep 2025

I'm planning to go to this game. First away.for a while as my daughter now lives in Sheffield having gone to Uni there and decided to stay.

Any suggestions for pre match pub around the ground rather then the city centre as she lives near Hillsborough?

I get that, that's why I want to work part time for a few years. However I have really had enough of the city rat race and dealing with red braces tossers all day

Part Time Jobs
at 11:34 16 Sep 2025

Hi all,

I am planning to stop full time work in the next couple of months and I'm looking for some ideas of what part time work may be available in and around central / north London.

I have had a long and varied career in FMCG and Financial services supply chain up to director level.

However I am not looking to continue that type of work and I'm looking for a complete gear shift. An example being working as a tour guide which is something I'm already looking in to. I am sure there are some interesting things out there that I'm just not aware of.

Love to hear any suggestions that I can look into or even better if you know of any specific opportunities do let me know either below or DM.

GCSE results day
at 09:29 22 Aug 2025

Back at the start of COVID (Feb 2020) my then 10 year old son was stuck at home with very little input from his primary school. We asked him if he would like to do some extra subjects just to keep him occupied. He loves Manga books and cartoons so asked if he could learn Japanese.

We found an online tutor and he has been doing an hour a week since. His first tutor was a grad student who he was with for four years. She is now living full time in Japan so we had to find another.

Second tutor suggested he was good enough to sit a GCSE which was a surprise to me! Anyway turns out second tutor was a bit rubbish and didn't really understand the GCSE syllabus so we got a third tutor a couple of months ago who was more up to speed. We soon realised that the exam was going to be much harder than we expected and there were huge bits of the course he had never covered.

Anyway after a couple of weeks of hard swatting he went ahead with the exam (mainly because we had paid for it). He was the only western heritage child sitting the exam. The exam was four different papers including spoken q&a.

He didn't think he did that well and was hopeful he may scrape a 3. Yesterday he got his result. He got a 6!!

I promised him that if he got better than a 5 I would take him out for the "best burger in London"..so we're out Saturday

Eze watch - Cup Final
at 17:01 17 May 2025

Guy in the pub (Tottenham fan) has backed palace to win the cup at the quarter final stage, £60 at 10/1, this morning he has backed Eze £50 at 10/1 for the first goal scorer and also backed Eze to score 2 or more £10 at 30/1. So he's £500 up so far.

My son has just taken part in an "experiment" to see how he gets on with no smart phone for a month. It's being published in the weeks Sunday Times and is cover story in the colour supplement. For him and us, the biggest issue was no access to what's app. As Clive mentions all various arrangements are through it so if he's not connected then he misses stuff. Also most school work is now issued via Google classroom so he needed special dispensation to have homework emailed to us. Anyway he's not much of social media user so that was not a big issue. So players going on tiktoc, X, Facebook and Instagram with a public account do open themselves up to hideous trolls but you can keep those platforms private or not use them. No huge loss really.

Marathon Walk
at 07:18 19 May 2024

Well we did it. Total time was 12 hrs 30 minutes. That was truly hard. However the comradeship of everyone saw us through.

My feet hurt and my knees are killing me but it was all worth it to raise over £20k both in memory of Joyce and to continue the fight against Pancreatic Cancer.

Thank you to those who came down to support us. With out your continued backing, cheering and beers it would have been a whole lot harder.

And a final thank you to my wife Lucy who stood by me (literally) over the last 10km when my knees were absolute agony. I wouldn't have got over the line without you.

Here's to Joyce.

P.s. you can still sponsor us on the link above.

I would also like to thank RangersW12 and Kensal Ranger for your donations. The weather looks a bit dodgy so I may have to invest in some flippers.
