 | Forum Thread | On loan Takoka scores a brace last night at 15:31 16 Aug 2025
Our on loan forward Rento Takaoka scored a brace to help loan club Valenciennes secure their first win of the 2025/26 season. Takaoka scored twice in five minutes as Sport Republic's Valenciennes beat Le Puy 2-1 on Friday evening. About time we got something of equal positivity back in our direction - such as the half decent player they had a Goztepe last season who was attracting interest from some half decent clubs in Europe. |
 | Forum Thread | Saints allegedly put Smallbone on sale for £8m at 17:47 13 Aug 2025
According to this article (see link below) we are prepared to let WS go for £8m - good luck with getting that when he will be a freebie next summer. I’d say we’d do well getting £5/6m - probably end up a loan again as with Stoke last time but then nothing next summer… If Still is not interested in playing him then get him gone for £5m if needs be and add that as part of the payment for JR from Coventry if they play hardball over his fee. Let’s just hope no Turkish Clubs take an interest 😀 https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/southampton-8m-price-tag-will-still-outcast-wi |
 | Forum Thread | Bazunu’s loan spell ended early at 19:44 25 Apr 2025
Sports Witness are reporting today that Standard Liège have terminated Bazanu’s loan spell early and sent him back to Southampton. The official reason is that he has returned early for treatment on a new knee injury - however, Belgian media outlet Sudinfo reported that Bazunu played just eight games, keeping one clean sheet and conceding 15 goals. Sudinfo say he ‘hasn’t been reassuring at all’ since he arrived in Belgium, meaning the stopper wasn’t convincing say Sports Witness. God help us if SR think he’s the answer to replace Ramsdale, I would think given his proven stats we already know about we’d not have much chance of going back up with him in goal. |
 | Forum Thread | Saints hierarchy split over RM’s future at 22:09 2 Oct 2024
If it is to be believed, the article below has surfaced in the last few hours in the Express and the Mirror online editions. It appears Dragan Solak is ready to pull the trigger but the oaf Ankersen is still supporting RM. Sounds like Solak is almost as fed up with Ankersen as he is with Martin. I honestly don’t think it would be bad for SFC if Solak pulled the plug on Ankersen as I feel he has done far more harm than good to our Club since he walked through the door. The article reads as follows: Russell Martin's position as Southampton manager is increasingly under threat following the club's dismal start to the season. Despite leading the Saints to promotion via the Championship play-offs last season, the 38-year-old now finds his team languishing in the Premier League relegation zone, having failed to secure a win in their first six matches. With just one point ahead of this weekend's clash with title contenders Arsenal, another poor result could push Martin closer to the exit during the upcoming international break. While Martin has some credit for last season's promotion, scrutiny is mounting. Saints owner Dragan Solak is reportedly unimpressed with the results, putting Martin in a precarious situation. As reported by talkSPORT, there is division among the top brass at St Mary's over Martin. While Solak is concerned about the results, sporting director Rasmus Ankerson, who brought Martin in as head coach last summer, still supports him. However, it's suggested that Ankerson himself is also under scrutiny from Solak, who took over the club in January 2022. Southampton are currently the lowest-scoring team in the Premier League, having netted just three goals in six games. In contrast, Arsenal have scored 12 goals in the same number of matches and remain undefeated as they pursue their first title in over two decades. |
