A PA system where the speakers are out of sync - Number, Number, Number, 7, 7, 7, Terry, Terry, Terry, Paine, Paine, Paine… Really, really muddy pitches with no grass in the penalty area. Then a member of ground staff repainting the penalty spot at half time. Supporters climbing up the floodlight pylons from a heaving terrace to get a decent view of the game. A player (usually a defender) coming over to the bench to get given a sock tie (which were just thin white strips of material) the real reason was to get some specific tactical info from the bench that needed implementing. The player would then relay the instructions on to the other players on the pitch and drop the sock tie on the floor when the ref wasn’t looking. Chris Nicholl used to be the recipient of the sock tie and tactical instructions from our bench when he played for us. Half time scoreboards that were letters of the alphabet that got the scores manually added as they came through, usually by a man in a white coat. Some of those scoreboards ran horizontally at pitch level along the low wall in front of the stand near the halfway line. You were stuffed if you didn’t have a programme as you didn’t know who games A,B, C & D ect were without one. Golden Goal tickets and the anxious wait for the announcement if you had 20m 37s and the analogue clock above the main stand said twenty past three exactly when we scored the first goal of the game! At home games, the players chipping the pre match practise balls towards a member of the ground staff positioned up near the corner flag and said member of the ground staff catching them in a large sack! Wagon Wheels that were entitled to wear the name with pride! Nowadays they are about the size of the thermostat dial on my central heating! Players who drive ordinary cars - always remember Ted McDougall was considered flash as he had a brand new MGB GT in neon blue. One of the other players had a Triumph TR7 (can’t remember who). Erling Haaland’s new bronze Porsche has a spoiler on the back that’s so big you could sit three or four people in a line behind the car on barstools and serve them a meal off of it… [Post edited 18 Mar 19:39]

Well, they’ve both got home draws in the Q/F’s - Bournemouth host Man City and Brighton host Forest or Ipswich so I’d say Bournemouth have the tougher draw especially as it is City’s only remaining chance of a trophy this season so I am guessing Pep won’t be mixing it up with some of the youngsters as he has in previous rounds. That said, if Forest take Ipswich out that won’t be easy for Brighton either. The nice thing is no Man Ure no Liverpool, no Arsenal, no Chelsea, no Newcastle, just Manchester pigging City but nonetheless a refreshing set of fixtures as it allows supporters of clubs other than the usual suspects to dare to dream for once 🙂 |

I’m getting the new SFC red & white striped abacus, complete with badge, to take with me to Anfield to keep an accurate count of the goals we concede. |

Ivan Juric looks like the tour guide who worked at Dracula’s castle in Transylvania when we went there in 2003 the day before Saints played Steaua Bucharest away in the UEFA Cup. |

Likewise, just had a look - Jesus, it’s a good job Microsoft haven’t invented smelly-vision because the stench of BS coming off of their site would be overpowering! Surely this is a breach of the Trade Descriptions Act? One thing they do have correct though and that is under the Technology heading - through the use of leading-edge technology and digital tools - one thing they do have use of is Rasmus Ankersen and his laptop full of stats and databases - he is the dictionary definition of a digital tool 🤬 |

Well said ST - we’ve got one of those in our local dog walkers park. Likewise, a so-called Liverpool supporter who has never been to Anfield in his 47 years, we know he’s 47 as he buys the new replica shirt every summer with his name & age on the back. Pretty much chants the same super league mantra word for word. Contrast that with one of the park regulars who is a Chelsea ST holder and very much opposed to anything to do with a super league. Was very active in the protests when the ill-fated breakaway League crashed & burned and has said they are far better prepared should Uncle Tom (Boehly) try and lead Chelsea to the promised land again. We have sat on our favourite park bench a few times and discussed this and he’s come up with some interesting thoughts. Obviously when it happens Sky and most of the other major broadcast partners will bin the PL and trot off to the ESL fawning at the feet of the slimeball six. But, will the all the current subscribers follow? He thinks not. For every one of those Liverpool followers we have both referenced - they don’t deserve the title supporters or fans - who will subscribe to the new ESL coverage he reckons there will be at least an equal number of current PL subscribers who won’t. Would you? No. Would I? No. We did a quick survey amongst the regulars who were around at the time and out of 14 current Sky subscribers we got 3 who would and 2 who might depending on cost - which if higher than the current deal would be No. Not saying this is an exhaustive survey but Sky ect will need everyone to buy in as the rights deal will be eye watering. Add to that the disruption from the pissed off fans - he said the tennis ball manufacturers will have to seriously up their game 🤣 - and it could be quite comical to watch from the sidelines as we enjoy our reclaimed League and domestic cup competitions minus the slimeballs. If most of us just shun subscribing to ESL matches how long would the likes of Sky and BT Sport last? Could be interesting to see what happens if the majority of their current subscriber base just turn their backs on it especially if it is more expensive as it will almost certainly need to be. |

Just had a llok on flashscore and the only Forest player down as injured is Hudson-Odoi so it looks like JWP was just left out of the squad. Be good use of our spare PL loan slot for the rest of the season. |
