Didn't see it. Watched Juventus v Dortmund. 0-0 half time which became 4-4 at full time. Don't recall a second half quite like it.

Wrex-iting for all the wrong reasons, its a Deadpool...Wrexham Vs QPR thread

Excellent win and a perfect reaction to the mauling at Coventry. I did feel this was a bigger test than Charlton and how we would react after the previous away horror show.

Typically Cov had 28 shots today and needed a 97th minute goal to save a point. Against us every shot on target found the net...

It is a great tragedy we don't play the Blades now. You can guarantee they will have changed their manager and will be moving up the table by the time we meet.

Still we soon have Wednesday who have been poor too but will we play like the last two games or gift them their first win of the season rediscovering our charitable status?

Eliminator Playoffs

The problem with this is the gulf between the Premiership and our league. If by some fluke a side that finishes 8th does win the play offs they will be annihilated the following season. Look how badly Sheffield Utd and Southampton did and they were around the automatic promotion places when they went up.

You could say the same now that a win over Charlton might stir complacency in the fanbase that all will be well.

Let's see how we fare at Wrexham against a side who has had three years of success and who specialise in getting late goals followed up by an improving Stoke side. After the previous horror show on the road will we lose our nerve in the first away game facing a team that will attack us like Coventry did?

We have done reasonably well away from home in recent seasons so could this campaign be a season of struggle on our travels? Only time will tell but three away defeats out of three, including Plymouth, in August is not a good start.

The Ipswich penalty was awarded in the 104th minute so it was only a 2 minute protest. 14 minutes was a hell of a lot added on. I would have been sick if I was a Derby fan to see a penalty given in the 14th minute of stoppage time.

I notice the Chelsea game had 8 minutes added to each half largely because of VAR. It appears that Fulham had a perfectly good goal disallowed by VAR for accidentally standing on a Chelsea players foot. It was also noteworthy that United got a VAR winning penalty in stoppage time after the ref didn't give the decision.

On the surface it appears VAR is being used to give the decisions to the biggest clubs by those in a VAR room giving their opinion on incidents.

What is it that saw Ipswich score in the 106th minute and Wrexham in the 108th minute today? Has the EFL sneaked in extra time or are they adding on time everytime the ball goes out of play?

My claim in the Grimsby/Man Utd thread that Grimsby would not lose at home to Bristol Rovers today was trashed so what do I know about league 2?

Charlton A Reflection
at 17:47 30 Aug 2025

Relief that we won when we don't normally play well at lunchtime and it was a derby win which have been scarce for a while. No doubt Wrexham will be a tougher challenge as a promoted club compared to Charlton.

Grimsby not lost this season and with Bristol Rovers up next at home they should continue their unbeaten start.

Don't we know it with just one win there in our history. Seem to recall it might have been only 1-0 in the last minute but really can't remember.

Teams called Rangers losing 5-0 by half time
at 21:13 27 Aug 2025

They have two mitigating factors and that is they went down to 10 at 1-0. Allegedly we kept 11 on the pitch. The second factor is Bruges are better than Coventry.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report
at 15:02 25 Aug 2025

Sorry to hear about your issues Northern. I mentioned how this club has damaged my health in one of the Saturday threads. I have gone from watching the game, to keeping tabs on the scores, to now being reduced to just checking the final result so I don't get worked up so much.

It all feels like nothing at the club ever changes and we are perpetually stuck in a rut and every couple of years we get a good hammering. The sheer frustration of following this endless drivel where we make the same mistakes over and over again. When you point out how bad we are people wade in as though everything will be fine. Apart from three promotion seasons, the best part of the last 28 years has been endless crap and little sign of it improving in the forseeable future.

You are younger than me so hopefully you will return to it but at my age I have to distance myself from all this nonsense that our club has been for the best part of three decades.

Is anyone really suprised
at 15:39 24 Aug 2025

I stopped going when my health watching us a few years back went because of the stress of just how bad we had become. It remained just as bad when not attending as the strain of latest scores had me in such a state that people thought I was about to have a heart attack. Medical advice for me now is to not monitor how the game is going but to just get the final result. This has worked well as yesterday's result just brought a shrug of the shoulders. Had I been keeping tabs on how the game was going I probably would have died by half time such would have been the rage. My sympathies to Andy Sinton but watching us in comms would bring on a heart condition to anyone watching this endless crap.

I know this is selfish but if the useless owners left I would be happy to take our chances on whether anyone else bothered to take over. If nobody did and we folded it would be good for my health. I know people worry we could die if Ruben goes but if non league clubs like Wrexham could attract investors then why not us? I honestly cannot see anything changing until the whole damn lot of them running the club clear off.

I have droned on for well over a decade that this club has been torpedoed and is slowly sinking and the stench of decay is all around it. Every season we create new unwanted records in our history as we lurch from record number of home defeats, to record number of home goals conceded, to record number of home games without a win, to record number of games without scoring in the first half at home, to record number of first hurdle defeats in the cup etc etc etc. No good new records ever seem to be achieved.

Each season seems to bring about a good hiding, 6-0 to Fulham, 6-1 to Chelsea, 6-0 to Man City, 6-0 to Newcastle, 6-2 to Leicester, 6-1 to Blackpool, 5-1 to Middlesbrough, 5-0 to Burnley, 7-1 to West Brom, 7-1 to Coventry and no doubt others I have tried to forget. When do we put 5 to 7 goals past anyone? I can understand Chelsea and Man City whacking us as elite clubs in the modern game but the others? It seems now that we can only avoid these terrible results by dropping down to leagues 1 and 2 as while we continue festering around the bottom of the Championship more of these results will come.

With West Brom putting 6 past us in the second half and Coventry getting five in the first half there are challenges for us. Let's see if we can break more unwanted records by shipping 6 in a first half or 7 in the second half. That is far more likely to happen with our clueless owners than any upturn in the clubs fortunes. There has been little sign over recent years for anyone following this club to be optimistic about the future.

I see our manager turned to the tried and tested message that we will be better at home to Charlton. Has he noted we are not very good in London derbies or that we haven't won any of our last seven home games? I wouldn't go round promising anything with our football club which has caused me to lose the will to live. Many years ago Fulham were considered a music hall joke but now it is QPR and that is sad seeing how we have sunk from the 60's to 90's teams we once had.

What went so wrong today?
at 21:00 23 Aug 2025

I did say we needed to park the bus like Hull did but we were wide open and totally disorganised against a buoyant team that scored 5 away the previous game. This was Coventry's biggest win since 1963 so once again Charity Park Rangers do the business.

Plymouth made their worst start to a season for 30 years but we did our bit to help them out throwing away the cup tie. The mental weakness of this club never seems to end as each year brings out new lows as we find more ways to embarrass our fans.

It's only August and Julien is already being sent to Coventry - Match Thread
at 22:45 21 Aug 2025

Maybe Coventry didn't have to work hard for their goals but the crucial point is they took their chances and scored 5 away. In contrast we spurn our chances and rarely score more than two or three on our travels. Derby attacked Coventry and left lots of space so if we do the same and lose the midfield then Coventry will walk it.

Our manager will probably need to park the bus like Hull did on the opening day and escape with a 0-0. I think that is our only hope of getting anything

Anyone see the penalty Leeds got?
at 21:18 19 Aug 2025

The disallowed goal for Eze and Leeds penalty gave Sky something to talk about. Their Super Sunday games were boring with just the one goal scored by Arsenal on the goalline. Monday night football was also naff with just a late penalty bringing up just two goals in three games for Sky.

Six Goals Conceded In Three Games.
at 23:54 16 Aug 2025

I suppose we can all be concerned over anything. I could suggest compared to last season where we beat Preston at home, won at Plymouth away and drew away to Watford, whereas this season our results have been worse against all three. On paper these are some of our easier fixtures and not the toughest tests we are likely to face but the results are worse than last season. Of course teams have changed but we can find fault wherever you wish to look.

It is a test tor our patience looking at other clubs and thinking why we don't react as well. We play kids at Plymouth and lose and bring experience back at Watford and still lose. Middlesbrough suffer a 4-0 disaster at home to Doncaster but then bring their men back at Millwall and win 3-0. Why can't we recover like that? I guess as individuals we have different ways of looking at what happens at our club.

We are still paying peanuts when you compare it to Birmingham and Wrexham. Didn't Wrexham spend £10million this week on a new signing?
