That's a fair comment. I've just seen DC's post-match interview where he said Taylor has also been unwell, but presumably well enough to be on the bench or what's the point? I think it'll take a miracle to make the play offs now. Too many players injured or less than 100% fit. Using players out of position is also necessary but far from ideal, like Iandolo and Tucker in midfield. Given Edward's hamstring injury a few months ago I wonder if it's tightened up? He walked off OK so as you say it might be precautionary but will be pleasantly surprised if he plays on Saturday. Payne is an interesting case, as DC has been managing the minutes of the older players but Payne has been ever present, and our player of the season in my opinion. He had a great start to the season, then struggled a bit in mid season but has been terrific again recently. Looked like a nasty calf injury and wonder how many games he'll miss. He's irreplaceable but I'm sure others will give it a go. Read looks a shadow of the player of last season. |

Coming after the bizarrely late substitutions on Friday night, our head coach is beginning to look like Danny Cowardly. |

What a pile of crap of a first half. We are terrible but, despite a huge amount of possession, they are dreadful. We lack depth in our squad. Heaven knows what will happen in the last few games if Edwards and Payne are crocked. |

According to the BBC website, Tucker plays alongside Read. Is that right? I would think he'd be in the back four and Egbo would be in midfield? |

If there's a bug going round, then there has to be a way of managing that. DC mentioned it more than once in his pre-match interview. I don't like that - it looks like making excuses in advance. |

I think you're right. Seeing it from where I was sitting last night it looked like a very clumsy first touch, but on the lowlights package it was a truly horrible bobble just as the ball reached Flanagan. The square pass from Kelleher probably wasn't the best option but that's how they tend to play. Given the state of the pitch maybe they need to eliminate that type of pass and just get it forward quickly. |

Not sure I agree with that - it's obvious that care needs to be taken on our pitch, and Flanagan basically screwed up and gave the goal away. He has been prone to the odd catastrophic error throughout the season, though to be fair this was the first for quite a while. |

I thought DC left it too late with some of the substitutions, as Thorn and Scully looked lively but had little time to make the difference. |

That's what it looked like - a bit of a partial demolition job. |

The turnstile looked in a sorry state at the last home game, Anyone know what happened? |

Apart from the first 10 minutes, we looked a bit overwhelmed by the enormity of the occasion. Defensively we were extremely poor, probably the worst this season. Could have conceded quite a few more. Still, on Friday we are back home for a mouthwatering game against a play off rival, McDonnell will be back and no doubt fired up, Iandolo can get back to where he is most effective and resume normal service to Edwards down the left. Up the U's! |

Yes, experienced it in my family. And from a professional point of view have come across many cases of early onset dementia, none of which had anything to do with sport as far as I know. So pinpointing sport as the cause in individual cases is very difficult, as overall case numbers in sport are relatively low. It's just a personal opinion, but I think the case for a contributory effect is stronger in rugby than football. But whatever the causes, it's still a devastating condition for those affected and their families and friends, especially given the lack of really effective treatments. |

1995/96 season was the high water mark for English Premier League managers at 86%. As you say, now down to 10%. Is the failure due to a historic lack of an elite coaching pathway at the FA? That might also explain why the FA keeps dipping into foreign appointments for the England manager. Not that the previous ones exactly set the world alight. |

It's true that Liverpool didn't perform anywhere near their usual level, but I thought Newcastle were excellent. And I was really pleased for Dan Burn - a fantastic header for the opener and a really good defensive performance. I think he'll do well for England. And also pleased for Eddie Howe. The first English manager to win a domestic trophy in a long time and a person who should have been offered the England job, but not sure if he wanted it. |
