I’m hoping Downs will be the real deal I hope Ross Stewart will stay fit and I’d see him as our main striker with Downs being a support act to start with I don’t think anyone should be criticised for being cautious. Our recent form on buying strikers has been appalling |

Whereas I like this signing I hope he’s not being relied on to be our main striker He’s another big gamble. I’d have sooner seen a proven championship striker Let’s wait and see, maybe Stewart will stay fit and Archer will start scoring |

His four fingers and a thumb on each hand will confuse them long enough for you to make your escape 👍 |

There’s a few in the Switzerland team I’d like to smash tbh 😋 It’s early days for women’s football, give it a chance. It will never be on par with the men’s game because of the physicality and the 150 years head start the men’s game has had Unlike a few on this site and elsewhere I’ve absolutely no problem with women’s football |

Can’t see this happening particularly with the skate connection. Apart from that him and McCarthy have a combined age of nearly 75 |

I was hoping someone on this thread had news of incoming transfers Season starts in less than six weeks. Whereas I’m not panicking yet I don’t want SR to leave things til the last minute and then go on the sort of panic buy spree that has seen the likes of Beeston-Diaz, Archer, Onuachu, Grønbæk, Taylor, Orsic, Ćaleta-Carr etc join us |

I suppose he'd be a bit lightweight for the PL but he had pace, coulkd take a player on and cross the ball so two things that Sulemana didn't Only under SR could you sign a 6'-7" and a 6'-3" striker and loan out/drop all your decent crossers |

Can somebody explain the logic of selling an up and coming winger when we have struggled so badly in that position? He's gone to Strasborg for £6m (that's £1m less than we spaffed up the wall on Brereton-Diaz) and we've lost a player who two years ago in the Championship impressed me when Martin actually showed any faith in him. I think in his handfull of sub appearances he put in more dangerous crosses than Sulemana has his entire Saints career |

Spot on. Hope it falls and it seriously affects the greedy teams that participate I’ve absolutely zero interest in watching games where over excited squealing Yanks wet themselves because their team “earned” a throw in on the halfway line and then hear a batch of stats about how many times that player has won throw in on the halfway line Geez, soccer eh 🙄 |
 | Forum Reply | Saints - Goztepe’s feeder club? at 17:48 16 Jun 2025
I'd disagree with you Nick on £3.5m not being a big fee in the Championship. Leeds and Burnley walked promotion. Leeds only bought 3 players over £3.5m. Of Burnley's 22 new arrivals at the club only 3 cost more than £3.5m Sunderland only bought one player over £3.5m as did Sheffield Utd and Coventry |

I take your points Nick but we are now in our third season under SR and investment in the Saints squad has been appalling to date. We are at a point where we have nowhere near the budget we started with. Okay the model of buying a good young player and selling them on in theory is a good one but it only needs to fail for a short period to fail completely. We don't just need to spend on our squad to get promoted but we need to have enough to spend to keep us up if we get there and buying players and loaning them to sister clubs is not working for us. Over the last two seasons we've bought players and loaned them to Goztepe which enabled them to get promoted to the Turkish Premier League and get to within touch of European places. What have we had in return? Absolutely nothing so this is not benefiting our club only Goztepe and Vallenciennes It's less than 5 weeks until the opening day of the new season and to date we bought one player who may be loaned to Goztepe. Obviously a lot can happen between now and then but I'm just hoping that the club back Still and we don't spend money that we can't afford in bolstering Ankersen’s squad at Goztepe |
 | Forum Reply | Tall Paul linked with Genk at 13:24 13 Jun 2025
Okay he’s not the greatest but service to him and any of the forwards was appalling. While Onuachu was on the pitch Saints delivered 39 crosses most of which were nowhere near him. That’s 1.5 crosses per game he was involved in. Apparently he scored every 0.35 times per 90 minutes played or once every 2.8 games. His xg was 4.48. He had a pass completion rate of 62% plus obviously he was our top scorer with a massive 4 goals I agree with Pat the Belgian league is clearly weak but we’d have had a better idea of him had we kept Amo-Ameyaw, Edozie and played Fraser who are the only players we had who were capable of putting in a decent cross Do we keep Tall Paul. Absolutely not, he’s too old and injury prone |
