Has to be relegation at this juncture. Completely new manager I know nothing about and new acquisitions that don't seem to have made any significant or meaningful appearances in the friendlies. Beyond that, a large chunk of the existing players are inexplicably missing or injured or frozen out. It looks like a shambolic hotch-potch of mediocre puzzled players to me.
It does seem normal and acceptable to virtually write off the opening fixtures pending the closure of the transfer window and finally getting all the ducks lined up from September though. I find that a bit annoying, especially as our opening fixtures aren't that daunting and if we were ready and "at it" we could fill our boots, pick up early points and give ourselves a base to build from. |

I'm unclear why club would fanny around with points/times on this? Could've just lashed them up to all and sundry at 11am with a limit of 200 tickets per person.
Maybe it's just about making fans with tons of loyalty feel appreciated? Also, if for some bizarre and unlikely reason they all sold out before a 1000pt fan got their ticket, that fan would be annoyed. But come on, given it's a night game in another time-zone* they aint selling out are they.

Dunno how long it's been since you driove and parked there but aside from parking I assume you know that London traffic is ridiculous nowadays too. When you're SatNav says there's 2 miles to go but that'll take another 70mins it's not broken - it's being optimistic! |

Despite us sorting out the finances and balancing the books in recent years we have been pisspoor at moving players on at a profit. This will always leave us playing catch-up with our rivals.
Eze was sold ages ago and since then we have not generated anything of note via sales. Getting £3+ Mil for a disaffected player who has done nothing for us since signing him for £200K is an outstanding bit of business AND a necessary bit of business.
It really doesn't matter if Kelman goes onto bigger and better things, right now the club have done very well indeed with this deal. |

20% of buggerall isn't worth much though. If I were CAFC I'd point blank refuse having a sell-on clause, especially if they're already stumping up £3million.
I don't get any of it, he looks like a bang average lower league immobile lump to me - I suspect he'll be as effective as Macauley Bonne was for us which will sort of square the circle. One thing you can rely on though: he WILL score against us when he returns! |

He was a special player - a complete one off.
There was more to see in 5 mins of Adel being "on it" than there was to see in 46 games put together last season.
Could go on forever about what's wrong with modern football but nobody being willing to play with joyous outrageous self-belief and "play like nobody is watching" is leaving a big hole in the game. Players don't seem to want to even shoot from outside the box anymore let alone dribble, nutmeg and pirouette their way up the field before chipping the keeper to score. I do miss him! |

Dubois needs to ditch his dad. He had two voices in his ear during his training camp and during the fight. As for jumping up and walking back to his corner on the count of 11 WTF was that all about????? Something badly off with him on the night.
Usyk does old school training camps and preparations. Most of his opponents recently seem to be slack and have too much noise and circus going on around them. Indeed, there are rumours of antics, squabbling and bickering in Team Dubois literally hours before the fight - ridiculous! |

Dunno what stats say but it feels like he's missed quite a few games with a series of knocks, tweaks and strains. I feel this has slightly dampened both his progress and his value. Most top players who command big fees and wages are pretty robust and don't miss many games - Eze needs a season or two injury free if he is ever going to transition into a superstar coveted by the elite teams. When fit, he looks capable of playing at that level though. |

It's first game of season. It's a Saturday 3pm start - I think penny has dropped with a lot of fans that there might be just 10 of those all season. We go into the weekend unbeaten and joint top...
So, if you can't get excited and want to go to this game I'm not sure what the point of you is?

Must be worst series of spot kicks ever - shocking!
Swedish keeper was diving when English players were 2 yards short of ball. Why didn't they just laugh and roll the ball the other side?? Think there were only 3 decent pens out of all what was it 7 each? |

They been around a few years. Them and Saudis have already annexed boxing so don't s'pose it'll be long til they creep into football.
Initially I was quite pleased that Sky's footy stranglehold had been broken but today it seems too fragmented and state-sponsored. A right mess. My flash Smart TV is running out of RAM space cos of too many apps already.
Ultimately there's miles too much footy being broadcast, dunno where it's all leading. Be interesting to see how long it is before the Saudis can turn the heads of The Prem or Ceferin.
Lord knows where plebs like us in the EFL will end up, probably on Sunday mornings on Dave TV... |

Be fair that was a scintillating performance by Chelscum. Who'd have thought playing with pace, energy and directness would be the way to win a game eh!?
But, I fear the general spectacle was an indication of how WC26 will be...
Kicked off late, nearly 10 mins I feel. I suspect this was deliberate as DAZN shoehorned plenty of extra ads into the broadcast.
Half time went on for ages too. Loads more commercials...
Presentation of medals took place at least 30mins after final whistle. Ridiculous delay with players and retinues getting bored and bickering. Loads more commercials..
So an 8pm ko that should've been over at 10ish dragged onto to nearly 11pm - imagine if there were was ET and pens! Would've been over 4hrs of broadcast with probably 60mins of ads inserted.
That smiling smug gonk Infantino must be world's most punchable face - hopefully he'll have a nasty accident before the big one next year and be sidelined. |

So home games with Charlton and Stoke added to PNE home game as 12:30kos.
We've got off lightly I suppose. Kind of wanted Wrexham to get moved to deter "tourists and day-trippers". I'm sensing the small allocation (1500?) will sell out sharpish now.
Bit annoying if regulars miss out as we didnt take more than 1200 on any of the 200mile Northern treks last season and in most cases it was 1000 or less. |

Bit ropey how EUFA are doing the fining on behalf of The Prem. The shysters at The Prem keep committing to aligning domestic "FFP" caps and protocols with EUFA but consistently forget to vote it through at conference.
Still, the main thing is football has been saved from the greedy barstewards who tried to take The Prem and EUFA out of the loop. It is very important that all shenanigans and inequity is fully controlled by The Prem/FA/EUFA in perpetuity.... |

I am always optimistic in July. It's not that hard to sneak into 6th, you can drop nigh on half the available 134pts and still be in the mix. Literally three spurts of 6 or 7 games of good form slays the relegation battle too. I feel just an averagely competent outfit should be easily capable of being in the top third. I have no idea what the new manager will do though - if he over-complicates things it could well be the same old same old for the umpteenth season on the trot. I am hopeful he will get us up and at 'em and we will have our best season for a decade. |

Seems to be an unnecessary reference that they were officially our players up to 30th June.
Maybe we are butting heads with Saints over which club should receive the FA payment for releasing Edwards for the England U21 tournament and we are simply emphasising he was "officially" with us?
Maybe it's just a statement saying the loanees have left the building though. |

The 70s hit sitcom Porridge was set in a Prison. The writers wanted a certain level of hardness and machismo in the dialogue that would be appropriate to how inmates would talk. Obviously they couldn't swear so they invented the phrase "Naff Off". It was quite clever as the venomous way Ronnie Barker's Cockney wideboy Fletcher character spat the words out it kind of felt like he was saying F... Off!
Before Porridge, there was no such expletive of course but for a time in the 70s Naff Off actually crossed over into everyday language. |

I agree that this is clearly a case of him being in the driving seat in securing the extension. His original deal must've stipulated he had a 2-yr contract plus 1 more year IF we were not in L1 and he'd made x amount of starts.
Nothing we ot the club could do... he's gonna be here picking up very sizeable wages (by our standards) for another season.
I think even fully fit we'd be lucky to get 30 games out of him but that foot injury will mess his balance/gait up and I suspect he'll get various twinges/tweaks associated with that. I'm thinking he'll miss more games than he plays and will have two lengthy absences.
Hopefully I'm wrong and he turns back the clock and has a blinding campaign but I worry that him and JCS won't play 46 games in total between them... we could do with pulling two more "Ronnie Edwards" out the hat to be safe.. |
