I agree that this is clearly a case of him being in the driving seat in securing the extension. His original deal must've stipulated he had a 2-yr contract plus 1 more year IF we were not in L1 and he'd made x amount of starts. Nothing we ot the club could do... he's gonna be here picking up very sizeable wages (by our standards) for another season. I think even fully fit we'd be lucky to get 30 games out of him but that foot injury will mess his balance/gait up and I suspect he'll get various twinges/tweaks associated with that. I'm thinking he'll miss more games than he plays and will have two lengthy absences. Hopefully I'm wrong and he turns back the clock and has a blinding campaign but I worry that him and JCS won't play 46 games in total between them... we could do with pulling two more "Ronnie Edwards" out the hat to be safe.. |

I can remember "Oh" Bobby Zamora getting dog's abuse and roundly boo'ed by Rs fans at Stoke. People in glass houses should remember us fans are fickle. |

Good sensible sum up. We can't afford him. There are plenty of clubs in this division who can offer him a deal worth a £million more to him. He is a model pro but he's not a right back - we need to use our meagre resources to get some defenders across the whole back line, not blow it all on Jimmy. |
 | Forum Reply | We'll always have Leeds – six of the best (and worst) from Cifuentes' reign at 20:42 30 Apr 2025
I feel being p3 l3 against Wednesday is a massive skidmark too. The game at theirs last season (December-ish?) was classic Cifuentes. Awful game, we were strolling around and Wednesday had an air of gloom, fans fed up with owners, and a very poor team. We somehow got ahead and then sat back and played even slower than we started. Wednesday woke up after 80th minute and scored 2 late goals. Every Rs fan saw it coming all half. Sunderland away was another snoreathon with barely a shot on target. Funnily enough his first game in peeing rain at the mighty Rotherham was a turgid 1-1. I knew we had a problem after that when a LOT of posters proclaimed it was so much better than Ainsworth. No, it really wasn't BUT that was the start of the Marti group think and this forum's tendency to be a pro-Marti echo chamber. Obviously Rotherham lost most games thereafter and went down with 25 points. |

Well all those managers went onto to achieve massive success after leaving us didn't they... oh wait, hold on, they did eff all. Dunno why folks can't accept Marti is the latest in a long line of mediocre managers we've had. Yep, doesn't reflect well on the club's hiring strategy but I cannot get on board with the idea I have to blindly get behind the latest chump in the hotseat. I always have and always will call a spade a spade. I will hold my hands up and admit that the dumb blind faith many put in Marti made me go "all in" in terms of xhitbagging him. Apologies if that upset anyone. Ultimately he wasn't all that and he really had to go. |

Excellent, I'm made up he's gone - dreadful rubbish season, he had to carry the can. Baffling why even yesterday some were in denial and trying to put it down to tabloid tittle-tattle. Equally baffling is anyone defending the tripe he served up and touting him as some sort of genius. Common sense has prevailed at least. Bit odd that Calm's still here, thought they were an item or a duo... be funny if Calm turns out to be our special one but I won't hold me breath.... |

But it's not exactly "stop the presses! Hold the front page!" Is it? Some gossip about a duff team, wallowing outside the prem that half their viewers/readers couldn't name 3 current players of - why would they waste their ink on us? What's in it for them? Literally the ONLY thing that makes it worth their bother is it IS factually true so chuck it out there. Cifuentes is very canny. We are but a stepping-stone for him and he's calculated he needs to move on pronto before his inexplicably healthy reputation is seriously tarnished. He has manoeuvred and orchestrated the narrative to suggest he's been let down by Nourry. I really don't care. Sooner the twerp clears off the better - he's out of his depth and should return to the rubbish low intensity subpar foreign second tier level he can scrape by in. |
 | Forum Reply | Sky Sports Breaking News at 18:42 28 Apr 2025
He signed a deal in Autumn. Now he's criticising the club - doesn't add up. He is clearly trying to dump us. He should be rolling up his sleeves and saying he's gonna sort this club out but he's running away. He's a coward and a snake. Doesn't matter, leave us a watch your career wither. None of our recent former managers have torn up any trees after saying goodbye to W12. He's all mouth and trousers - we are best shot of him. |
 | Forum Reply | Marti, stick or twist? at 20:57 21 Apr 2025
He's mentioned bettering last season's 56pts. Doubt we will frankly but it's a pretty spurious target anyway. Last season has Ainsworth's appaling contribution. Strip that out and Marti achieved 48pts from 32 games which is 1.5pts per game and extrapolates to 69pts over a full season. So, his points haul this season is pathetic by comparison and he has missed his personal target by a dozen points or more. He has patently gone backwards and you don't really need a calculator to see that. I think he should go. He just doesn't get the EFL. |

Old warhorse CBs are ten-a-penny. Cook's had a good innings with us but he's clearly well into last knocking of his playing career - it would be madness to offer him a new deal. If we do bring in a new CB or two I don't see there's any need for one to be a veteran "old head". If I'm wrong on that point it wouldn't be hard to find one with more miles left in the tank compared to Cook. |

To further emphasise the futility of it all Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in the world have trumped us by posting a loss of £57mil. Just what is the point???? We go up, become successful, get a new ground, establish ourselves in the Prem, play in Europe but all the while making massive losses that grow year on year. Surely at some point the Billionaires that bankroll this madness will realise their vanity projects are an insane waste of money. |

Biggest issue is they don't normally let you come out the way you went in. You expect to exit out back to right but you're kettled down some winding path to the left that emerges way away from where you want to be. My advice is make sure you know the name of road your car is in and assume you will have to find it from a completely different starting point afterwards. |

I think it might be a good idea to actually visit the Forever Rs page on the offish, read Andy Sinton's introductory piece, peruse the list of inductees and then post a comment? That said, I'm not sure the thread would even have started if peeps did that. Anyway, I think FRs is a marvellous endeavour, gets it right with its picks and Sints does a fine job in what some cynics could deem a frivolous role. I'm not one of them though, I believe he's a sort of glue (along with us supporters of course) who is maintaining the club's DNA throughout the unending churn of suits, coaches, managers and players. I like Sints. |
 | Forum Reply | And breathe... - Simon Dorset's annual deep dive into the accounts at 19:05 27 Feb 2025
I can't take the figures seriously. It screams of being done "backwards".... ie the max permissable loss is £13mil so that's the first number slotted into our "accounts". Then, chuck in loads of lines/numbers with fancy accountancy terminology that support the £13mil outcome and Bob's yer uncle. Oh well, I suspect EFL must have a tacit arrangement with clubs that amounts to "don't take the mickey and we'll rubber stamp it" and we play ball with that. Ultimately, if the EFL applied forensic, robust and stringent examinations of clubs' accounts, probably 80% of them would start new season on a points deduction I reckon. |
 | Forum Reply | March Sky Games at 16:37 27 Jan 2025
Gotta be televised. Mark Robins has serious beef with Cifuentes following them both being at a EUFA coaching event in 2017. Apparently it got heated over the pool table and Google Translate suggested that Marti said "you smell of Quavers" to Robins. He's never let it go. I think Sky will go all in on the coverage of this with both managers offered £500K to wear GoPros for the game. |
 | Forum Reply | March Sky Games at 11:25 27 Jan 2025
Is annoying. The inference was we'd get a couple of month's notice of changes when this new deal was announced, and to be fair... we have been. But, this new rolling 4 weeks is a bit rubbish. I suspect our recent form and calibre of opponents in March means they'll pick a lot of our games. Ironically I suspect our promotion charge will have fizzled out by then and the games will not have the heft they thought they would. In another example of Sky shitbaggery Burtons TV game with Blackpool on Thursday week has been dumped with barely 10 days notice. Sky have something else to show instead now. Probably a tour of Warrington pie shops with Luke Littler.... The game has now moved to its original Saturday slot. |
 | Forum Reply | Marti on Leceister in the FA Cup at 19:18 9 Jan 2025
I would've been content for him to have got the boot - we were in a shocking run of form and bottom of the league. It feels like most of the clubs around us have launched their gaffers over past several weeks so I can't see it would have been a bolt from the blue. Neil Harris took over Millwall in total disarray and plummeting down the table in February. We were more or less level with them then but Marti "had his feet under the table" by then and we were on the up. Harris immediately halted their slump and over the 35 games he was in charge until last month he amassed more points than Marti. I point this out purely to illustrate the ordinariness of Marti's record over a reasonable timescale instead of the last 2 weeks. One thing Marti ballsed up massively was our preseason. The club was ill-prepared for the start of the season (clueless and all over the place). You cannot cite "new players" as an excuse - ALL EFL teams hugely overhaul their squads in the summer: it's something the manager has to contend with. Maybe he's learned his lesson? But, spunking the first 15 games up the wall has wrecked this season and there cannot be a repetition next season. Marti is charismatic and personable. He clearly has a LOT of people eating out of his hand. Personally I'd rate his entire 15 months here as 6 out of 10 - okay but I guess I'm way short of the 11 out of 10 many feel he warrants. |
 | Forum Reply | MC has got to go at 19:59 6 Nov 2024
There are hundreds of managers available out there - any of them, they are 10-a-penny and expendable. It really shouldn't be hard to get a manager who knows the EFL and can actually win the odd game. But, nevermind that. Instead of deflecting from Marti's incompetence, why don't YOU tell us 5 things Marti Cifuentes is excelling at in terms of managing/coaching/prepping the team eh? Obviously you won't manage to list 5 credible things but I'll come back later with one suggested replacement manager for each of your reasons. |
 | Forum Reply | MC has got to go at 17:56 6 Nov 2024
He must be sacked. He's exploiting demented fans who cling onto the idea he's some sort of genius despite fact his CV is dripping in shite. Bottom of league playing spineless walking football??? Get the fraud out of the club whilst there's still a chance to stay up. |
 | Forum Reply | Are we capable of going up next season. at 20:55 30 Apr 2024
Can't see it. Too many poor results and performances. Whatever way you choose to extrapolate Marti's tenure into a 46-game tally it's upper midtable at best. We need fullbacks, a dynamic forward minded midfielder, wingers and attackers to go up to next level. I'd be happy with maintaining a positive goal-difference through the season. That'd keep us well clear of relegation worries and solid in top half of table with the possibility of dreaming of a 4-game spurt to have us sniffing about top 6. |
