Part Time Jobs
at 16:05 17 Sep 2025

I've started looking at similar jobs to some of the ones other people have talked about - supermarket delivery, trade plate car driver etc. Have also been looking at some more general shelf-stacking type jobs.

Not quite ready to apply for anything yet.

Part Time Jobs
at 14:00 17 Sep 2025

I was made redundant in June and am old enough to draw my works pension. Paid off mortgage, car etc and currently not working. My wife is still full time though, so my plan is to get a part-time job 2 or 3 days a week to supplement my pension and then my wife can go part time as well.

I've had a relaxing and enjoyable summer watching lots of cricket - haven't missed work at all.

He did have some injury issues which kept him out for almost 2 years 2022-2024 and then got injured again last season.

Managed to watch the game on a stream - impressed with our first half performance and thought we deserved to be 2-0 up at half-time.

Always thought Wrexham would come back into it 2nd half - that 3rd goal was the clincher for us. They did have a couple of other chances but we also had the Dembele chance.

I started my 1st job in 1986 - 1st month was paid by cheque as there wasn't time for the company to set up payment to my bank account. From the 2nd month, my salary went straight into my bank account - never been paid in cash.

Finally saw a win!
at 14:51 2 Sep 2025

I get to maybe 4-8 games a season, mostly away, as I live in Yorkshire.

I went to the 3-1 win at Preston on 7th March 2020 just before covid lockdowns started. I then attended 12 games without seeing a win (8 defeats and 4 draws) before seeing us win 2-1 at Blackburn on 3rd Feb 2024.

Last season, went to 8 games and saw 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses.

The box-to-box 8
at 14:38 2 Sep 2025

Just for fun the ChatGPT answer is this........

In football (soccer), a box-to-box 8 refers to a central midfielder who wears the number 8 shirt and plays a dynamic, all-action role. This player operates between both penalty areas (hence "box-to-box") and contributes significantly to both attacking and defensive phases of play.

🔑 Key Responsibilities of a Box-to-Box 8:
1. Defensive Duties

Track back to help defend, especially during counterattacks.

Make tackles, interceptions, and blocks.

Press opponents to win the ball back high or in midfield.

2. Ball Progression

Carry the ball forward through dribbling or passing.

Link defense and attack smoothly.

Often one of the main engines of the team’s transitions.

3. Attacking Support

Arrive late into the box to create or finish chances.

Make forward runs to overload the opposition midfield or defense.

Assist strikers and wingers with through balls or crosses.

4. Stamina and Work Rate

Cover a lot of ground over 90 minutes.

Move continuously to support both ends of the pitch.

Maintain high intensity even late in games.

🔄 Positioning & Movement:

Typically plays slightly ahead of a holding midfielder (the 6) and behind or beside a more attacking midfielder (the 10).

Moves vertically up and down the pitch.

Helps maintain team shape in both offense and defense.

🧠 Ideal Attributes:

High stamina and fitness

Good passing range

Tactical awareness

Ball-carrying ability

Defensive intelligence

Shooting from range

🔥 Famous Examples:

Steven Gerrard

Frank Lampard

Blaise Matuidi

Jude Bellingham (modern, all-rounded example)

Arturo Vidal (during his prime)

Rating for this Summers Transfer Window

"...of course, the cost of our player purchases will be amortised. "

Simon - can I just check that this means the fees we have paid for players is spread across the length of the players contract? Or have I misunderstood?

I'm in a similar position - supported QPR for about 50 years initially because they were my dad's team. Only lived in London until I was 5, and generally get to between 6-10 games a season, mostly away. For me, a huge part of being a QPR supporter is this website and all of the previews, ref info, interviews and match reports that Clive produces. Not only the volume but the quality of the output is fantastic. So Clive, please realise that for every abusive idiot on social media, there are a huge number of people who greatly appreciate all of the work you do.

Isn't there also something where transfer fees can be spread over the length of the contract, whereas sales are banked straight-away in the accounts for FFP?

Saito and Hayden will be used to some of the other players but not used to the current tactics (if we actually have any at the moment)

Yes, hopefully with better forwards (Kone), Saito's runs and pull backs will result in more goals than last season.

He's had a few injury problems which is why he doesn't seem to have played many games in the last couple of seasons.
